Talking It Over This year's varsity Debate squad consisted of Steve Paulson, Cindy Headrick, Janis Rahn, Marda Pow- ers, Tem Sutton, Donna Dahl, Jean Neprud, Chuck Gullickson, Don Kirkegard, Kim Stimpson, and Deb Johanson. During the year they won four team trophies, two debate trophies and one individual trophy. The MB team did very well, bringing home one sweepstakes trophy and two debate trophies. Mem- bers of this team were Rolaine Ailts, Cindy Rosh- eim, Janelle Johanson, Joann Johnson, Don Kirke- gard, Terri Sutton, Wyatt Stahl, Gregg Fargen, Tim Scofield, Paul Sampson, Barb Reinhart, Kevin Blum, Laura Paulson and Ramona Powell. FHA and FFA members have joined forces on a number of projects. The officers from the senior class have given the type of leadership that advisors dream about. They have set a standard that will be a great goal for classes to come. ft Ml. Achcson and Mrs. Telkjtnp The local chapter of the FHA has had an active year. Their officers were Susan Brooks, Ruth Ann Larson, Rhonda Minor, Denise Minor, Carol Ahlers, Janis Hahn, Miriam Amdahl, Cindy Headrick, Jackie Ailts, and Lori Hammer. The FFA officers were Rick Veldkamp, Graydon Dailey, Barry Whipkey, Tim Amdahl, Richard Ahlers, Cordon Christenson, Don Schroder, and Alan Warner. The two groups sponsored the annual Christmas Dance. The couples danced to the music of Buraam Wood. Mr. and Mrs. Santa Clause were chosen. This year's Santas were Jackie Ailts and Bill Doyle. The FFA had their annual mixer and their Sweet- heart was chosen. This year's candidates were Sharon Haugan, Jackie Ailts, Carol Clay, Jani Wenge, and Sheila Headrick. Jam Wenge was cho- sen. The FFA is advised by Mr. Achesan. The FHA is advised by Mrs. Albert Telkamp.

The Local Deciam contest was held on October 24. The participants receiving firsts were: Laurie Bock, oratory, jean Neprud, dramatic; Janis Rahn, humorous; and Ann Armstrong in poetry. Those receiving seconds: Annette Basart, oratory; Donna Dahl, dramatic; Cindy Headrick, poetry; and both Karen Schrier and Darci Dappcn in hum- orous. Mr. George Zuerlein of Dakota State College was the judge. The local first place winners went on to Baltic to partici- pate in District competition. The group was advised by Mrs. Irene Steffensmeier. Other local participants were: Vicki Duncan, Susan Brook, and Cindy Christenson (dramatic).
