The 1972 Homecoming Festivities began Wednesday, September 20, with the traditional Little Orpheum. This year each class, cheerleaders, and pep club members put on skits forecasting the outcome of Friday night's game with the Brandon Valley Linx. Before and between the skits, the dance band furn- ished music. After the skits came what everyone was waiting for; the crowning of the King and Queen. This year's candidates were Les Heinemann, Susan Brook, Cordon Christenson, Renee Ramsdell, Kim Duncan, Jane Schmidt, Craydon Daily, Laurie Bock, Steve Mach, and Janice Wenge. Last year’s royalty crowned Susan Brook and Cordon Christen- son to reign over the festivities. g. TMMWi ACAJV 5 Thursday night the students gathered at the old football field for a bonfire and pep rally. When the fire died down, torches were lighted and the students marched to main street on foot and in pick-up trucks. Members of the senior class and football players took turns giving pep speeches on top of the pick-up trucks. When speeches were finished, King Cordon and Queen Susan led the group in a snake dance through the streets. Friday, during school the band marched through the halls playing and singing the school song. School was dismissed early after a pep rally. This year, some ambitious students made a float for the royalty to ride on in the parade. The seniors painted the rock on Monday night. The rock painted in the class colors, blue and silver, had their year painted in Arabic and Roman numerals on the back. All the joyous activities ended Friday night. The Fliers lost the game to Brandon Valley, 33-14. After the game the students danced to the music of Little Henry. 6 Illusions Of Spirit In the lower right hand corner are pictured the Pep Club officers: Brenda Wilts, Margaret Landis, Calla Hogue, and Shirley Pray. The Methodist ladies prepared the dinner, and it was served by waiters and waitresses chosen from the Sophomore class. The servers were dressed as moon people, complete with antennas. The grace was given by the Rev. David Sahr. The program consisted of a welcome by junior class president Brad Sanderson and a response by senior class president Gor- don Christenson. A group of junior girls sung. Rhonda Minor and Dale Tjarks were crowned Prom Queen and King. 21 The Prom dance was once again held at the Spafford gym. The walls and ceiling were decorated with blue, pink, silver, and blue star streamers. The picture area was a huge moon with a carpet of pink coming down from the moon. The punch bowl was decorated as a USA rocket. The punch bowl servers from the sopho- more class were Marcie Liebel and Carol Ahlers. The table area was separated from the dance floor by zodiac signs mounted on stands. The tables had pink table cloths and color dripped candles. The Ride provided the music. Sunday morning the junior parents hosted a breakfast at the K.C. Hall. To raise money this year, the juniors worked the concession stands at the foot- ball, wrestling, and basketball games.
