Homecoming! A time for excitement, joy, and anticipation. The candidates for Homecoming King and Queen were: Susan Ekem, Denis Parsley, Debbie Whipkey, Mike Halter, Joan Fargen, Bob Keck, Lani Julson, Steve Millman, Margo Headrick, and DeVere Heakrick. The student body selected Joan Fargen and DeVere Headrick to reign over the Festivities. To raise the spirits for the football game the tradition- al bonfire was held with a march uptown afterwards. 5

Following the excitment and wonder of the coronation ceremony, shown by the faces of the candidates, Joan Fargen and DeVere Headrick were crowned as our King and Queen. The Seniors followed tradition and painted the rock in the South- east parking lot. This year the rock and base were painted light purple and the year 1972 and the word Seniors in dark purple, which was also outlined in gold. The seniors motto, WeVe Only Just Begun was also done in dark purple along the base. The rock design was created by Karen Jones. The Seniors also painted rocks and formed a huge 72 on the side of the West hill, which can be seen from the highway. These rocks were gathered by the Seniors and carried one by one up to the top of the hill. The Homecoming dance was also a great success after the foot- ball game, with the Nickle Bag of Soul providing the music. The memories of Homecoming this year will always be remem- bered by everyone, especially the Seniors. 6
