Senior High Chorus Tunes Up for Perfect Harmony Blending their voices during a number at their annual spring concert, the Senior High Chorus under the direction of Mrs. Solvig Aarness harmonizes beautifully. During the year this chorus group and its ensembles have participated in many school and public programs: the District Music Contest, All State Chorus, and were also featured on the high school radio program. Flandreau High Highlights. The twelve chorus students who attended All State Chorus came home to report that not only was singing in such an excellent group an exuberating experience but that they had a real swinging, singing time, also. Pictured are: BACK ROW - Dennis Erickson, Tom Henry, Ron Lee, Dennis Smith, Jay Weigel, and John Hobson. Front row - Janet Weigel, Jackie Hanson, Audrae Scofield, Nyla Harrington, Noreen Luttmann, and Betsy Bonde. ‘ aim at man Three grinning soloists received superiors at the District Music Contest at Madison this year. They were Dennis Erickson, baritone, Dennis Smith, bass, and John Hobson, tenor. Mrs. Aarness, just a little proud of both her Junior and Senior High chorus groups, gives them a cheery smile to remember her by. Music, her specialty from grade school operettas to formal high school concerts, takes all of her time. There always seems to be a little extra though for Little Orpheum, her history class, and a pleasant smile for her students.

Seniors today; Citizens tomorrow Government Days gave the seniors first-hand experience in politics. Under the guidance of Mr. Corlett and Mr. Kippes the class was divided into two parties, the Nationalists headed by Jean Hass and Gene Henry and the Federalists headed by Carol Foreman, Tom Henry and Keith Kroeger. A week of hard campaigning was climaxed by elections and visiting the county offices. Incidently, the Nationalists had a sweeping victory over the Federalists, winning fifteen of the eighteen offices. The Nats campaigning included not only singing a chorus of their party song but also giving away candy kisses . k f A 0 Gary fhrker and C. M. Culhane pause in their discussion for a picture. Boys’ and Girls’ Ensembles Rate Excellent at District Music Contest Back Row: Dennis Erickson, Tom Henry, Ron Lee, Dennis Smith, Jay Weigel. Front Row: Gary Parker, Eugene Henry, John Hobson, Roger Erickson. Back Row: Linda Robertson, Audrae Scofield, Maxine Sorenson, Charlene Bonrud, Jean Pulscher. Front Row: Donna Kuhle, Janet Weigel, Noreen Luttmann, Betsy Bonde. Melodious Freshmen Sing for Their Enjoyment One lone boy braved the year with twenty-two girls in the Freshman Chorus. Our bet is that he enjoyed himself. Success came to this group not only from the pleasure their singing gave to others, but from the satisfaction and enjoyment they received from singing under Mrs. Aarness: director. Back Row: Glenda Christenson, Rosemary Hanson, Betty Hurley, Jolene Headrick, Eloise Allen, Marie Allen. Middle Row: Kathy Anderson, Pam Randall, LeAnn Nass, Jeannette Haugen, Judy Gul- lickson, June Kucera. First Row: Anita Cherney, Donna Erickson, Mary Baarstad, Julie Landis, Kathy Hass, Shirley Gageby, Sandra Hammer. Seated: Helen Allen, Carolyn Millman, Neil Teer, Madonna Schramm.
