'57 Flyer is Dedicated to ELDON SAMP, Flondreou High School Bond Director awk' ,. D r. . v 'Y a iris T Q, . ' Eldon Samp was chosen Outstanding Band Director of South Dakota for 1956 by the Kappa Kappa Psi, honorary band fraternity from the University of South Dakota. This only restated common knowledge of the Flandreau people, as they know him as a man who does a superb job of guiding some two hundredyoimgstersintothe appreciationof music each year. He isamember ofthe American School Board Directors Association andis secretary and treasurer for South Dakota's Band Master's group. The Flandreau Future Farmer boys made him an honorary chapter fanner in 1956. Under Samps direction the A band brought home the A school American Legion marching trophy from the Legion Convention. They won the giant Pow Wow day trophy from Huron College last fall. The B band received recognition at Edgerton's Dutch Festival. Judean Snuggerud,Muriel Duncan, and Nancy Critser who brought home the twirling honors display the trophy that the band received at Luverne last fall. This fancy vehicle for transportation has given many a student added pleasures as they worked moving band equip- ment. Even Mr. Samp enjoys bombing around in the limousine. The Annual Staff wishes to dedicate the '57 Flyer to Eldno Samp, director of the band and friend to all at Fland- reau Hi h. . With gxis dedication in mind a musical theme will be used throughout the book.
