W 'ia-il ROW 1: Fern Uphoff, Cheryl Molln. ROW 2: Ernest Rients, Paul Uphoff, Dee Carls, Ron Obert, Mary Gorman, Ruth Roeschley. ROW 3: Lynn Orendorff, Rudy Weichman, Mary Norman, Terry May, Scott Engle, Sally Smith, Paul Ulrich, Lois Buettemeier. ROW 44 Janet Thiel, Cheryl Raber, Larry Hansen, Betty Harris, Wally Greiser, BAND The band was directed by Mr. Oscar Roth. During the year instrumental groups performed at several civic, church, and school affairs. The band marched at half-time for all of our home football games, and presented a different show at every game, with a special one for homecoming. Also, the band played for most of the football and basketball pep assemblies . A pep band played at a few home basketball games . Contestants in solos and ensembles performed at a concert on Sunday afternoon, February 21, at the high school. The band presented a concert on Simday afternoon, March 24. District 37 music contest for solos and ensembles of the band was held at Paxton on February 27 . The band had fourteen entries, five of which received superior ratings . Seven entries received excellent ratings and two received good ratings . District contest for the band was held in Paxton on April 2. The organization received a superior rating. State music contest was held in Macomb at Western State Teachers' College on Friday, April 22. Two ensembles received firsts, and three ensembles received seconds . The band received an excellent rating. It was a successful year for the band, and Mr. Roth and the instrumentalists feel that much progress was made.
