Dr. Mer- riam looks forward to many improvements in the college ' s program DEAN OF EVENING STUDIES Philip McMur- ray, Dean of Men for nine years, has assumed the new position of Dean of Evening Studies. He is well trained for his post, having graduated from Manhat- tan College, received his Ed.M. from Fitchburg State College and done extensive work at BosT h Uni- versity. DEAN OF GRADUATE STUDY Dr. Roger Holmes, a graduate of Wesleyan University, received his Ed.M. from Boston University, and his Ed.D. from Teachers College at Columbia University. Dr. Holmes fulfills two important roles at Fitchburg; he is Dean of Graduate Study and head of the Social Studies Department. of business and has done graduate work at various colleges and is a former manager of a chamber of commerce. DEAN OF ADMISSIONS Joseph F. Durant re- ceived his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Boston College. Well known for her articles in science journals, Mrs. Russell has served as state chairman for the National Association of Bio- logy Teachers. When not solving the academic prob- lems of the college community. Dean Russell enjoys cooking, writing, and the out-of-doors. DEAN OF MEN Mr. William H. Fitzgibbon re- ceived his B.S. and M.S. in Education from Fitch- burg State College and an M.S. from Worcester Poly- technological Institute. He has also done graduate work at Boston University, the University of Connecti- cut and Eastern Michigan. Mr. Fitzgibbon is respon- sible for finding loans, scholarships, employment and housing for the men students of the college. DEAN OF FITCHBURG STATE COLLEGE Dr. George C. Merriam did graduate and under- graduate work at Clark University, received his DEAN OF WOMEN Miss Josephine Bolger re- ceived her B.S. in Education from Boston University and an M.A. from McGill University in Montreal, Canada. Her academic career has also extended to Columbia University and Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland. Miss Bolger has served over Fitchburg Stale College for thirty-seven years; twenty years as Physi- cal Education Instructor and seventeen years in her pi ' - ' -nl capacity as Dean. ASSISTANT TO THE PRESIDENT John J. Boursy received his under- graduate degree from Holy Cross College in the field
