With the high cost of living today, it is practically essential for the average teenager to have a job. There are the basic necessities to think of: food (french fries at Mickey D's), clothing ($100 a month for girls, $50 for guys — at least!) and shelter (the car — to shelter you from Mom's nagging), and of course, saving for college ($5 per month). These all have a way of zapping your paycheck before it's even cashed in. It forces teenagers to learn how to budget their money, a sort of dry-run before they enter the real world of taxes and mortgages. But on the lighter side, jobs are not all work. They also provide endless memories: the new friend on the next register, the food fights when the boss wasn't looking, the college kid who bought a Megabuck from you every week, and finally, who can forget that gorgeous blonde over in produce?!
