The Homecoming Queen and her court. (L-R) Laurie Carlson. Queen. Seniors Heather Himes and Darci Peterson. Freshman Kristin Sorila. Junior Brenda West and Sophomore Stella Filice. z The day that will live in infamv . Things started going wrong from the very beginning — and they got worse before they got better. From the start, hopes of building a float were dim. Lack of time, money, and support all contributed to making a Homecoming float an unreachable goal. Nevertheless, a noble effort was made to save homecoming by hav ing a dance to commemorate the event, which was originally scheduled for October 5th s game against Wachusett Regional. Alas! Those plans fell through as well. But all was not lost. We did preserve one tradition — the election of the Queen and her court. That went off without a hitch — almost. Six girls were named, with only five escorts (details, details!). Those elected were Laurie Carlson (queen). Sr. Court members Heather Himes and Darci Peterson. Jr. Brenda West. Soph. 16 Student Life Stella Filice. and Fr. Kristin Sorilla. and the escorts were Denis Porter (King). Jeff Gelinas. John Dimartino. Eric Benoit. and Tim Stansel. Saturday morning. October 5th came, and the members of the Homecoming court arrived in proper attire, but even Mother Nature was against us that day. Homecoming was postponed because of the torrential downpour, but thankfully, the game was not. The football team slipped and slid into a 14-0 victory against Wachusett. With the postponement, hope was born anew to make something of Homecoming II. Once again, a dance was proposed, but once again, the administration nixed it. We decided to settle for hav ing just a Homecoming Procession in convertibles and to decorate the cars and the field with posters, balloons and streamers. But. of course. Stand in King Jeff Gelinas and Queen Laurie Carlson represent their class with great pride, as shown with the smile.

They've got the look. Ten Cook and Robin West. October 23rd will be a night to remember for five F.H.S. individuals. Todd Deacon. Denis Poirier. Robin West and Ten Cook all met Mr. LeBlanc on the 1st floor of the high school. No one really knew what to expect and what the rest of the evening would be like. After a short trip to Ashbumham. to photographer Bob Delisle s house, and all introductions were made everyone was ready to go to work. This was the first time anyone had ever tried modeling, and each was a little nervous. After a brief talk by Mr. Delisle on positioning and posture. Todd Deacon broke the ice and stepped up in front of the camera. After a few pictures were snapped the rest of the crew began to loosen up a bit and the photo session was on. Two hours later and three changes of clothes the last picture was snapped. Asked if they would ever do this again senior Robin West replied. Most definitely! , it will be a night that thev will never forget. Top Todd. Robin and Denis, dressed to kill. Bottom Ten and Denis ham it up. Student Life 15

One of the escorts said he would be unable to attend, due to a previous commitment. Another senior court member, as well as three senior football players, were found outside during school Wednesday. Each one received a three-day suspension and they were kept out of all Homecoming activities. By the end of the day. everyone was aware of what had happened, and reactions were mixed. Saturday arrived, bringing with it a perfect and clear autumn day-ideal football weather. But the weather was the only thing that went right. The convertibles — two of them — arrived too late to be decorated, and the third never arrived. The Homecoming procession, led by Klooie the Raider and the FHS Band arrived at Crocker Field and was introduced by the voice of FHS. Fred Sullivan. The game began. Despite the incredible circumstances surrounding Homecoming 85 — the suspensions, injuries, arrests, fouled-up plans, as well as St. Bernard s incredible thirst for vengeance — we won 24-7. And that's what matters, right? Student Life 17
