Soon after, the atmosphere became more intense as dozens of eggs were given out to smirking pairs of seniors and faculty members who were eager to delicately fling eggs through the air without egging their partners. Roars of laughter could be heard as less fortunate ones wiped dripping egg from their hands and arms and people could be seen, egg in hand, chasing their giggling partners. This chaos of eggs, however, was suddenly combined with screams of delight as boxes of water balloons were confiscated and their colorful contents were smashed on each other. Within minutes, the ammunition was 'Every rule of etiquette must have been broken as pulp and seeds dripped from everybody's chins — but it was worth it! diminished, and our growling stomachs led us to the cafeteria where volunteering juniors were ready to serve us a hot chicken dinner, fresh from the Colonel. Most agreed that the food was satisfying but some apparently didn't since a roll or two could be occasionally seen sailing through the air. Fortunately however, this was stopped before an all-out food fight was declared. (Above) Kelly Rice gets set to hit the ball as the rest of the team looks on. The Senior Reception to the faculty is sure to be a memorable event long remembered by the Class of '86. The time was September 11, 1985, the place was Crocker Elementary School, and the atmosphere was fun! Filled with games and laughter, the Senior Reception to the faculty was a chance for Seniors to become closer and 'solidify' as one. The festivities began around 4:30 as groups of seniors arrived and eagerly joined in a competitive game of volleyball. Soon after what seemed to be the fifth tie-breaker, the rowdy crowds began to gather around heaps of watermelon and teams were made for the quick moving, mouth-watering , watermelon eating contest. What a sight it was to watch as we mature seniors raced against each other trying to stuff as much watermelon into our mouths as we could while the less daring members of our class cheered us on from the sidelines. Every rule of etiquette must have been broken as pulp and seeds dripped from everybody's chins — But it was worth it! The three-legged race was less messy but required more athletic skills and long legs. Seniors and faculty members dashed, and in some cases crawled, to the finish line, trying desperately to avoid bumping into each other and twisting their legs with each other. This event, which, by the way, produced quite a few grass stains and torn jeans, was followed by the intense contest of brute 'solid' strength: the tug-of-war. Involving almost every senior, this event was a time for each of us to show off our muscles and 10 Student Life

As dinner was being finished, some of the seniors tested our skill on the gym's monkey bars and rings, creating impossible positions, while others played a short game of B-ball. After this, teams were again formed and life-savers, which were not unknowingly eaten for dessert, and oranges were passed very intimately from senior to senior by the way of tooth or chins respectively. Wheel-barrel races and finally one last rematch of volleyball concluded the ceremony as the sun set on ths perfect autumn day. All in all, the Senior Reception was quite a success: laughter was shared, friends were made, and cherished memories were formed. Shelley Robertson and Michelle Miner are ready to chow down but Ted Douchette isn't sure. Steve Valiton prepares to hit the ball, as Bob Bergeron looks on. 12 Student Life
