THE GREEK MASKS were static; they represented only one trait of a character. The masks we assume, however, are constantly changing. They must change to reflect the changes in our roles. This constant putting on and taking 4 off of masks is an exercise that is necessary during our high school years. It is only by taking on many different roles that we can become aware of those that are comfortable, those masks that actually reflect and enhance our true • selves. It is after high school that we begin to reject some of our masks and to retain others. It is after our high school years that we begin to assume that mask, that role, that self that is the total sum of what we have been.
