Of this, there is an inexhaustible resource on the second floor of F.H.S. Behind our library doors stand shelves of books in which learned men have left worthwhile contributions to society. Throughout the day, the library stands open for students who wish to come and search the pages of its volumes or read the latest issue of a periodical. And though countless people draw upon its re- sources, the supply will not deplete. mm? j William J. Doo Librarian Mathematics Department Nicholas G. Ruberti Department Head Industrial Arts Department Doing your own thing may be an overworked cliche in today's world, but it is an appropriate one for our industrial arts department. Here the student becomes involved in projects of his own choosing, and, guided by the instructor, works on them at a pace best suited for him. It is in such a highly personalized at- mosphere that both Industrial Arts instructors and students excel. John S. Lucas Russell R. Cook Department Head Peter Hertel and William Michaels Peter A. Hertel Erkki Koutonen 36 Physical Education Department Because automation in today's society has become so widespread, a program of physical education is vital. The youth of today with all the luxuries their environment has to offer, finds very little need for physical exertion. Even walk- ing, the most common exercise, is less noticeable because of the use of escalators, automobiles, and el- evators. There is a slow moan among us as we arrive at our gym lockers and proceed to change into our gym clothes, but once we are par- ticipating wholly in a vigorous game of volleyball, basketball, or soccer, we find we are actually enjoying ourselves. J. Robert Paul Miss Elsie Studley Mrs. Lina Korpi Marco T. Landon 37 Boulder Staff Our yearbook began in the late spring of last year with a search for a theme. By the time autumn brought us to the shores of Gloucester and Rockport, the search had ended. For we saw some- thing of our class in the power and diversity of the sea. Perhaps it was here that we discovered the beauty of our class — the beauty of a unity attained through the unique contributions of each of its members. Yet, as one search ended, another began — and it continues. For the attempt to express that beauty should not end with this book. Red and Gray Each year the Red and Gray becomes progressively better due to the ef- forts of the qualified editorial staff, and faculty advisers. It never ceases to provide the students with well written essays and poems, student person- als, jokes, and interviews with alumni. Student Council President, Janet Hachey. Giaquinto's got the cutest curls. Student Council During the past year our student council, under the competent leadership of Janet Hachey, has effected many meaningful and beneficial changes. Items such as the dress code, music in the caf- eteria, and open campus have been on the agenda at meetings. The members of this council have effectively represented their peers. L A i Hi i r ■ L % Glass of 1972 It wasn't so long ago that we were in your place, looking forward to our S enior year with that same com- bination of anticipation and anxiety. Then we had all the dreams and hopes that perhaps you have. But it would be unrealistic to say that we've accomplished all that we had planned to, individually and as a class. — It has been said that a man's reach should exceed his grasp. At least we have been sincere in our efforts. We only hope that you will be able to reflect on yours with as much satisfaction.
