Com- plete knowledge of our language helps us to communicate effectively with others, to understand their problems, and to respect them as fellow individuals. Through our classroom discussions, theater trips, and reading of great literature, w-e are exposed to many philosophies, ranging from those of Socrates to those of Becket. By accepting ideas we feel are deserving and by discarding those that we feel are not relevant or necessary to our beliefs, we are able to establish our true identities. In this way, we become more capable of bringing forth the more creative facets of our personalities. Our English Department under the expert guidance of Miss Lillian M. Taylor assists us in acquiring a sound knowledge of great literature and correct grammar, so that in the future we shall be better able to express our philosophy, hopefully for the good of all.
