We Americans are conscious of the in- fluence of English tradition and originality upon our lives. We recognize that this in- fluence was especially important during the period of colonization when all facets of a new American life were derived from British tradition and were blended with the originality of the pioneer. We feel that it is this same combination of originality and tradition that has made our class unique. For this reason we have chosen the English colonization period as the theme for our yearbook.

Dedication Mr. Russell R. Cook graduated from Fitchburg State College in 1948 and received his Master's Degree from the same school in 1952. He became a member of the Fitchburg High School faculty in 1952. He teaches graphic arts and has been head of the Industrial Arts Department since 1960. Mr. Cook has been a dedicated class adviser as well as a friend to all. He, his wife, and his three children live in the countryside of Greenville, New Hampshire. Theirs is a fun-loving family. Often when his children are playing in a distance field, he calls them home with a walkie-talkie. Mr. Cook is in charge of the annual Washington trip. His enthusiasm and humor are well summed up in his recent slogan, Take the bus with Russ and leave the driv- ing to us! Mr. Cook was appointed as our class adviser, and we, the Class of 1966, feel that we could not have chosen a finer one.
