Science Department By stimulating the search for knowledge of basic concepts and bv providing an opportunity for their application, the Science Department helps students to adjust to the complexities of the modern world. There is a diversified program of study, including Earth Science. General Science, Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, and Physics, and a newly formed Chemistry Club provides an added opportunity for in- dividual research. The Science Department prepares the students of Fitchburg High School for the highly technical world of tomorrow. Social Science Department The Social Science Department recognizes the importance of well- informed citizens and, therefore, assists the student in developing his sense of responsibility as a citizen. By studying both past and present events, the student becomes acquainted with the development of our nation, and with this knowledge of the past, the student is more aware of economic and social affairs. To fully understand a nation's diplomacy, the student studies the customs, ideas, and actions of a foreign land. The study of our government is essential to us, the students, who will choose the future leaders of our country and determine our na- tion's political actions.
