For many this will be the end of formal education; others, approximately 35 per cent, will enroll at institutions of higher learning — cir- cumstances permitting. For all, June 21, 1951 represents a growing up, a maturing, a commencement of adult life and responsibilities. the militaristic tinge which colors politics and govern- ment, and the materialistic philosophy which seems to imbue the economic life of our nation, you should face the future with courage and faith. A courage to face reality, making no compromise with the truth, coupled with a steadfast faith in our way of life, and a trust in the wisdom and mercy of God, can only lead to a brighter and happier future for everyone. His present ambition is to join the U. S. Naval .Mr Force. Tennis 3, 4; Band 4. RICHARD WILLIAM HOLROYD Not quiet, not loud, but noticeable in a crowd. We will all remember Dick as a happy-go-lucky, always humorous, oung man who wears his blond hair in a short crew-cut. His person- alit ' won him many friends and he was seldom seen alone, either in school or out. Rather than complete his senior year, Dick enlisted in the U. S. .Air Force. Looking for someone who knows all the answers? Dick is the boy you want — his store of information is inexhaustible and amazing. It isn't hard to guess from his casually-won honor grades that he and col- lege are going to get along fine. It has also been observed that his nice grin and blue eyes get him places in other than scholastic fields. JACQUELINE LUCILLE HOULE In vain on study, time away ii e throw. We unanimously elect Jackie Miss Good-Nature of 1951. A person with such a dis- position is an invaluable asset to her classmates. She will make a tine nurse in the future. Debating Club 4. STANLEY PHILIP HOWE, Jr. Worry never did a man good. It can be truthfully said that Stan is an all-around good fellow. He is the possessor of a jovial manner, and an everlasting wit, brought out by a hearty laugh. We understand that one of his summer pastimes is racing speedboats on Shirley Reservoir. Stan is a friend to all, which will be a great advantage to him when he becomes a florist in the future. THOMAS HENRY HOWSON Life's but a series of tricks. Tommy, a black curly haired boy, was more often seen than heard in the corridors. He belongs to the type which prefers to make its noise outside of school. In preference to rapid travel with his car, Tom gave up his hobby of roller skating, to some extent when he obtained his driver's license. As is true with many of us, he has no definite plans for the future. ARTHUR HUHTALA A little nonsense now and then Is relished by the best of men. Good humor and wit are Art's constant companions, which help make any stranger feel at ease. THEODORE ANTHONY JANUSKIEWICZ Strength and good nature go well together. If a poll were taken for the title of Worst Gi rl-Teaser of '51, Teddy would win in a walk. His height, clipped blond hair, and swag- gering walk make him the typical senior. He has his own chariot and has driven it to and from his home in Shirley every (or nearly every) day. Whatever else his future may hold, we know it will bring him many good laughs. Baseball 2, , ; Home Room Representative 4. PAUL FRANCIS JOACHIM Pleasure before work. For her future plans, Mary- anna would like to become a stenographer. We know she will make a very fine one. ELMA MIRIAM KANG. S There is an indispensable charm about her. Patty's most notable asset is her wonderfully fair complexion in combination with those fascinating blue-brown eyes. She enjoys herself immensely in school days but has a serious streak, when it comes to the matter of studies. She plans to enter the field of nursing after gradu a- tion and our best wishes go with her. Basketball 2; Volleyball 3; Dramatic Club 2, 3, 4; Home Room Representative 2; Junior Prom Committee; Boulder. JOAN PATRICIA KELLY Good nature is a special charm that wins a host of friends. Joan may appear very quiet to those who don't know her, but to her many friends she is a source of humor and entertainment. That ever-present smile is extended to all, and we think that she has serious moments only while on the basketball court. Joan is always very clothes- conscious, and neat appearing. Debating Club 2, 3, 4; Dramatic Club 2; Junior-Senior Reception; Prize Speaking Contest 2, 3. DANIEL CARNE KIELTY One ear heard it, and at the other, out it went. A nonchalant manner, grand sense of humor, and devilish blue eyes have made Dan a favorite with his classmates. Junior-Senior Relay 3, 4; Track 4. STANLEY HOWARD KINSMAN, Jr. He was the mildest mannered man. In Stanley, one finds a quiet and good-natured character, which gains for him many friends. After graduation Leo plans to continue being one of his father's best truck drivers. 40 Zhe Moulder - 1951 NORMA LOUISE MONETTE She's as busy as the proverbial bee. CYNTHIA JANET MONTONEN Fair to look on, nice to know. Cyn is noted for her big smile and cute little laugh which make her one of the most popular girls in the class of '51. Intelligence like this should be frightening, but it's impossible to stand in awe of anyone with such a ready laugh. His special apti- tude in science makes him a candidate for Worcester Tech. One of Bob's favorite pastimes is riding horseback which he taught last summer in Ogunquit, Maine (he spends much of his free time there.) After graduation Bob plans to be a veterinarian. DENISE ELIZABETH PHANEUF In ev'ry sorrowing soul I pour'd delight. Pert and petite are the words to describe Denise. ROBERT JAMES PHANEUF As long liveth the merry man they say, As doth the sorry man, and longer by a day. Here's a happy-go-lucky lad who never appears to be in a rush. Nothing ever disturbs the good-natured grin which has made him many friends in the past four years. His forte is mathematics and we hope he will do something along this line in the future, Junior-Senior Relay 3. BRUCE ALAN PHILLIPS Work, work, work, my labor never lags. Among the usual noisy crowd in high school, it is a relief to find someone who carries an air of calmness and quiet about her. Edith is such a person. Although more serious about her school work than some, her sense of humor doesn't seem to have been impaired by hard study- ing. Her pastimes include crocheting and knitting. Edith plans to continue her education after graduation. HAZEL ELIZABETH REMICK Music is my love. He has participated in the Recreational League. His future is undecided, but he hopes to enter college. ROBERT SAMUEL SAARI Wise men say nothing in dangerous times. He is known for his good sportsmanship. Although his future plans are indefinite we wish him the best of luck. Junior-Senior Relay 3, 4; Track 4. JOSEPH HENRY SCHROTH am weary of days and hours, Desires and dreams of powers, And everything but sleep.
