Glee Club 2, 3, 4, Relay 3, Dramatic Cub 3, 4. Bob is one of our popular seniors. His smile and greet- ing for everyone identify him anywhere. Bob has been our president for two years and he has performed his duties well. He is also active in the Dramatic Club. Bob's favorite sport is horseback riding, but he also has a car in which he spends many hours. As yet Bob has made no definite plans for the future. Betty Arlene Aho She who has the bright face and bright hair. Basketball 2, 4, Glee Club, Dramatic Club 2, 3, 4, Majorette 3, 4. Betty is a striking taill blond. She holds her own in any sport especially basketball. She is active in Reipas and the Tri-Hi-Y Club. She is our senior class secretary and one of our snappy majorettes. Betty is talented in art. She would like to take up art at the Vesper George School of Art. Eini Katherine Niemi Laughing and gay and full of fun, She is ever ready when frolic's begun. Councillor 1, Hockey 2, Basketball 2, 3, Glee Club, Dramatic Club 2, 3, 4, Majorette 3. 4. Eini always has a charming smile and is without a doubt one of the best known and most popular girls in the senior class. She has been vice-president of our class for two years. Eini is active at Reipas, Co-ed Club, and the Tri-Hi-Y. You will also remember her jauntily twirl- ing her baton at the head of the band. Eini's future plans are to take a secretarial course. Jorma Esaias Ojala Actions speak louder than words. Councillor, Basketball 3, Relay 3, 4, Dramatic Glub 4. Jorma, the popular treasurer of our class, has done a fine job in fulfilling his .duties. Besides being up in his studies, he is also very much interested in all sports, especially basketball and track. He plans to ent er the field of diesel engineering. PAGE 10 CLASS OF '46 SENIORS PAGE n THE BOULDER Raymond Charles Adams A modest man am I. A handsome lad with curly blond hair. A member of the West Fitchburg clan, he works in a grocery store there. His main hobby is raising a mustache (which is coming along nicely). Ray is going to join the Merchant Marine after graduation. Philip Domenic Aiesi Enjoy life while you may. Band, Orchestra 3, 4. Phil is a rather short senior with wavy brown hair, and a winning smile. His hobby is playing his sax and we hear that he is really going places. Phil loves dancing and attends most of the school affairs. He plans to be- come a bandleader in the future. Raymond Joseph Andrews A noble mind with, a noble heart. Councillor 2, Dramatic Club 4. Ray is a big husky fellow with black hair, brown eyes, and a ready smile. His distinguishing characteristics are his popularity, and his deep voice. He likes hunting and used to make a good profit selling pells. He also likes dancina. Charles Leroy Atwood As merry as the day is long. Councillor 2, Junior-Senior Reception, Junior Dance Committee 3. Charlie belongs to the small minority who take things as they come with a smile, and never worry about what is going to happen next. Charlie added smiles to Mr. Dooling's classes with his actions last year. He is tops as a piano player and hopes to follow it up as a career. Ciro Barone Laugh and the world laughs with you. Dramatic Club 2, 3, 4, Glee Club. A big wide grin, a hearty handshake, and a chuckle. His hobby is having a good time. He works in his father's drug store. Ciro wants to graduate before he makes any pJans, but it has been said that he will go to a school of pharmacy. Spiros Biliouris Our youth we can have but today. Glee Club 3, 4, Basketball 4. Spike is said to be about the best soda jerk in town. Besides being an active basketball player he finds time to support all school and social functions. After high school he plans to open a chain of restaurants. Chester Arthur Blanchette To be strong is to be happy. Relay 4. Chet has brown curly hair and brown eyes. He takes part in all sports, excelling in boxing. Besides his outdoor activities, Chet enjoys all other social life, especially dancing. His outside work has prevented him from enter- ing many school sports. As yet he has not decided on his future work. Donald Alfred Bouvier Deeds not words. Dramatic Club 3, 4. Don is a typical high school boy. He is smart, has lots of friends, and likes to have fun in school or out. He works in a grocery store after school. His biggest ambi- tion is to be manager of a big store. PAGE 12 Herbert Joseph Bouvier Many a true word is spoken in jest. Dramatic Club 4. Herbert is probably not known as well around school as he is at the Fitchburg Theater where he is employed as an usher. He attends all sports and school functions. Roger Maurice Breton Quiet persons are welcome everywhere. Junior-Senior Reception 3, Debating Club 3, 4. Roger is popular and always willing to help. His standing in his studies is good for he takes a great deal of interest in his work. Roger is a quiet boy. He can generally be found playing ping-pong at the Y. He likes both basketball and softball. Robert Alfred Brodeur He is always laughing, for he has an infinite deal of wit. Dramatic Club 1, 2, 3, 4, Football 3, 4, Write-up Com- mittee 4, Senior Class Play. Bob is full of fun, and can appreciate a joke on him- self as well as anyone else. A very good student, he is well liked by all his teachers. Throughout our high school years we have all enjoyed the acquaintance of this care-free, happy-go-lucky young man. Gordon Thomas Brown An all-round athlete, straight and tall. Football 2, 3, 4, Junior-Senior Reception 3, Basket- ball, Baseball, Relay Team 3, 4, Dramatic Club 4. Gooma, who hails from the South side, is one of our foremost athletes. He played on the football, baske ba 1, and baseball teams and he was out-standing in all these sports. He is known for his easy-going manner and cheery smile. John Raymond Brown A little mischief now and then Is relished by the best of men. Councillor 4. Ray is a dark-haired good looking fellow who always has a cheery word for everyone. His main recreation is dancing, but when you can drag him away from the dance hall, he is an enthusiastic basketball and ping-pong player. He plans to enter engineering. Robert Edward Brown A better fellow nowhere could you find- Football 3, 4. Brownie is interested in all forms of athletics, particu- larly football. He has been out for this sport three years and is this year coming into the limelight as first string center. You might have seen his smiling face on the be'l boys' bench at the Hotel Raymond. He was one of the active members of Jive Junction. Louis Gene Buratti Ay, the ball is flying, the lads play heart and soul. Basketball 2, 3, 4, Relay 3, 4, Baseball 4. Louis is one of our merry lads, always cheerful, always glad. He is really showing his ability in school this year. He is a member of the basketball team and played well this year at guard for the team. Stuart Clifford Butterfield Speech is good but silence is golden. Band 2, 3, 4. Stuart is Westminster's star trumpet player as well as gas station attendant. His cute smile and wavy hair are his greatest assets. All his friends will tell you that he is loads of fun. Dancing, bowling, and hunting are his favorite pastimes. Stuart has no definite future plans. PAGE 13 THE BOULDER Ernest Carbone Quiet persons are welcome everywhere. Dramatic Club, Class Color Committee 3. In school, Ernie is known by his nice smile and studious nature. However, his books are not the only thing for mischief is ever present in his eyes. He likes to draw, dance, swim, and play basketball, which he does after working at Foster Grant Co., Inc. He hopes to be a chemist. Eugene Shannan Casassa Always ready, always there, Always willing to do his share. Dramatic Club 2, 3, 4, Football 3, 4, Senior Class Play. Gene is an easy-going fellow who has been very active in school affairs. His dramatic ability has been demon- strated to us on many occasions. In football, he was an out-standing linesman, and made the first team of the A'l- Worcester County eleven. Herman Siegfried Cofman A man not of words but actions. Football, Baseball 3, 4. Chuck is one of those sports enthusiasts. If he is not playing baseball he is playing foolball or ping-pong. Oh, yes, he also enjoys dancinq quite a bit. His hope after high school is to enter the Marines. Edward Morton Cohen Not too serious, not too gay, A good fellow in every way. Football 2, 3, 4, Dramatic Club 3, Relay 3, 4. A handsome fellow who is a member of the football team, likes dancing and most sports. He worked during the summer as a councillor at a boys' camp. Eddie plans to go to a business school after graduation. He is get- ting some practice now as business manager of the Boulder. Richard Bishop Collins Jolly, well-liked, a good student, too. Football, Chairman Junior-Senior Reception Commit- tee, Junior-Senior Reception Play 3, Football Manager 4. Dick, who always has a smile and a pleasant word for everyone, has made a great many friends during his three years here. He was assistant footba'l manager and place-kick artist in his junior year. This year he was rewarded by being made manager. Winthrop Rowley Collins A good laugh is like sunshine. Junior-Senior Reception 3, Relay 3, 4. Bim is a quiet, well mannered senior who came to us fiom Pennsylvania in his junior year. Among his in- terests are horses and football and he is kept very bus playing basketball for the church league. Bim plans to return to Pennsylvania and after his eighteenth birthday he will enlist in the Army. Donald James Cosgrove Good nature is a special charm. Junior Prom Committee 3, Relay Team 3, 4, Football 4. Don was the fellow that caught the touchdown pass in that hard fought, brilliantly played Worcester Trade game. As you can see, Don is a sportsman. He was the captain of our '45 relay team; he also likes to hunt. The girls say he is a good dancer. Leonard George Cotnoir An industrious lad in every way. Dramatic Club 2, 3, 4, Junior-Senior Reception, Coun- cillor 3. Len is a popular fellow who is famous around school for his loud ties. He likes dancing and sports. He is business manager of the Boulder and works as a drafts- man after school. Len plans to go to college. PAGE 14 CLASS OF '46 Harry Roger Crawford Obey and be attentive. Dramatic Club 2, 3, 4. Harry is a tall blond senior, who always hats a smik. He didn't take part in any school sports but he always attended the games. Harry especially likes to ski at which he is very adept. Austin Gene Crossman A gentleman of honest deeds. Dramatic Club 2, 3, 4, Junior-Senior Reception 3, Re- lay 3, 4. A lover of all sports, his hobby is photography. Me- chanically minded, he likes to drive his father's car. Upon graduation he plans to become an engineer. John DiTommaso, Jr. I could sit on, untroubled day by day. Dramatic Club. johnny is an avid aviation fan. Besides being a mem- ber of the Air Scouts, and of the C. A. P. he works at the Fitchburg airport. When you can drag him away from his flying, you will find that he is also a good foot- ball and baseball player. Richard Wallace Doughty Shall I go on or have I said enough? Band, Orchestra 2, 3, 4, Debating, Junior-Senior Re- ception Committee 3, Dramatic Club 4. Dick, a good-looking blond, presents a well-groomed appearance. He is an active member of both the band and the debating club. Bowling, basketball, and ping- pcng are his favorite 6ports. Dick plans to go to Amherst College where he will major in the sciences. Winfred Charles Durling He is always light of heart. Bud is a tall dark lad who comes from the South Side. He is cheerful, friendly, and not too fond of study. He is a smooth dancer and very much interested in sports, such as football, basketball, baseball, and hunting. Arthur Nicholas Eleftherio Honest endeavor is sure reward. Dramatic Club, Junior-Senior Reception, Class Color Committee 3. Dickie with his blond hair likes to study, but dcesn't let homework interfere with da ncing and basketball. He plans to attend the Massachusetts Institute of Optometry. Robert John Fallon A companion that is cheerful is worth gold. Baseball, Dramatic Club, Junior-Senior Reception 3. Bob came to F. H. S. in the junior year from the big town of Lunenburg. He likes baseball and basketball. Bob is the assistant to one of the local veterinaries in town. Who knows but what he might be a veterinary himself some day. John Frederick Fielding Old friends are the best. Dramatic Club 2, 4. Jackie is a curly-haired boy who has had such a run of hard luck that th e crutch seems almost to be his constant companion. Much of his time is spent with airplanes. Tackie's one plan after graduation is to en- list in the Navy. PACK 15 Gerard Paul Fluet A merry heart goes all the day. Relay 3, 4, Football. Gerry is a friendly fellow with a gift of gab. His brown hair and blue eyes make a good combination. Like most boys he likes ice cream, spcrts, and girls. He plans to attend Wentworth Institute. Benjamin Earl Foniaine, Jr. A generous action is its own reward. Relay 3, Glee Club 3, 4, Dramatic Club 4. Ben is a quiet unobtrusive senior who embodies a calm disposition coupled with a reserved dignity which makes him stand out on all occasions. He knows what he wants and will bend all his efforts until he attains his goal. Robert Arthur George Always light-hearted and content. Football 3, 4. Bob is a good-natured fellow, interested in most sports, especially football. He has been a member of the foot- ball team for three years. Skiing is another sport that Bob likes. He is also an excellent dancer. William John Godin Brevity is the soul of wit. Relay 3, Dramatic Club 4. Bill's hobbies are stamp collecting and building gas model planes. As is obvious he is very interested in aviation. Bill works afternoon at W. E. Aubuchon's warehouse and plans to join the Navy. William Frank Goguen Education makes the man. Councillor 2, 3, Red and Gray Business Manager 2, 3, 4, Relay, Junior Prom Committee 3. Bill is very much interested in a'rplan;s. Although he hasn't yet acquired his flying license, he hopes to in the near future. He has been one of the prominent members of our Red and Gray board for three years. Bill is also interested in sports, mainly s kiing. William Dillin Goodwin His words, like so many nimble airy servitors, trip about him at command. Councillor 2, 3, Dramatic Club, Boys' Debat.'ng Club 2, 3, 4, Red and Gray Board 3, 4, President, Dramatic Club 4. Bill is a tall dark-haired fellow with a great sense of humor. Being one of the active members of our class, he often runs about the corridors serving in one capacity or another. Since he is interested in business and finance, he plans to attend Boston University, College of Business. Sidney Warren Gordon Everything handsome about him. Dramatic Club 1, Glee Club 2. Sid is another gas station attendant who hails from Westminster. He always manages, however, to take time off when he wants to. On off days he likes to go swimming and hunting. Sid is not yet quite sure of what he will do after graduation. Robert William Gould My wealth is health and perfect ease. Dramatic Club 4. Bob has a sharp, old jalopy in which he rides around town. He likes most sports although he didn't go out for any in high school. Bob doesn't have any definite plans for the future. PAGE 16 CLASS OF '46 Joseph Francis Grammel toot my own horn. Junior-Senior Reception 3, Dramatic Club 3, 4. Joe is a happy carefree fellow whose main recreations are dancing and bowling. While in school he likes to debate with anyone who is willing to listen to him. After graduation he may enter the Army. Richard Lee Harris Live and take comfort. Junior-Senior Reception 3, Relay 3, 4. Dick is tall and slim, with light wavy hair. He is a smart dresser; he always wears pegged trousers,- gay socks, and loafers. His favorite pastime is dancing in which he excels. He works in Emily's Clothing Store after school. Some day, he may be manager of the company. Robert Marshall Heath He is of a quiet nature. Football 2, 3. Bob is a truck driver for the Post Office. He likes most sports, but he likes football best. He p'ayed for the high school in his sophomore and junior years, but in his senior year he sustained a knee injury and was unable to play. Norman Wilfred Hertel Silence is most noble. Dramatic Club 2, 3, 4. Norman is a quiet boy who likes all sports. He left school in the middle of his senior year to devote all his time to farming. Owen John Hobbs Men of few words are the best men. Orchestra 4. Owen, who comes from West Fitchburg, takes the vocational course. His main interests are dancing, swim- ming, and roller skating. He plans to join the Army. Norman Joseph Isabelle There is mischief in this man. A boy from Cleghorn who likes to go hunting. He likes to dance to the music of Jimmy Dorsey. He also does plenty of ice-skating and traveling. After gradua- tion he may enlist in the Navy. George Bernard Kane Mischief never thrives without wit. George is a short and very active lad who comes from the South Side. He is interested in all sports and spends much of his spare time hunting and fishing. He works at Kresge's after school. He plans to go to an engineer- ing school. Robert Henry Kendall Silence best speaks the mind. Football 2, 3, 4, Relay 3. Bob is a great lover of football and played on the F. H. S. squad. Another sport he likes is skiing, and he is a member of the Fitchburg Ski Club. He also likes to hunt and Saturdays you can generally see him heading up Electric Avenue with his gun over his shoulder. PACK 17 THE BOULDER Irving Henry Kinsley No worries ever trouble him. Glee Club, Baseball 4. Irving is the fellow with the blond wavy hair and he comes from the East Side. He attends most all school functions, especially dances and football games. He likes ail kinds of outdoor sports. Irv likes to play ping-pong and they say he is pretty good. Toivo Armas Lampi For he is a jolly good fellow. Football 2, 3, 4, Baseball 3, 4. Toi, one of the southsiders, is seldom seen with girls, but is a regular fellow among the boys. He is interested in all sports and he has been an active player on the high school football and baseball teams in both his junior and senior years. Alvah Veikko Lamsa He is an ingenuous lad. A tall, slim fellow with glasses, Alvah has a brand of humor all his own. He is a whiz at math, a subject that mystifies most of us. Though he is a very quiet fellow, he is very likeable. He plans to go to college. Rudolph Edward Lareau To will is to succeed. Class Color Committee, 3, Dramatic Club. Rudy is a quiet, good-humored senior, whose greatest interest in school is in his art class. He has done some fine work in Miss Nason's class. He hopes to continue his study of art. Albert Roswell LaRoche They who are faithful to themselves find happiness. Dramatic Club 2, 3. Here is a bright young man who doesn't like studying, but is never seen without an open book in front of him. He is a well liked orderly at Burbank Hospital. His ambition is to become an X-ray therapist. Roger Onnond Leonard We'll have a swashing and a martial outside. Dramatic Club 1, 3, 4, Relay 3. Rog is a tall fellow with brown hair. His main interests are in athletics. Although he doesn't play on the school team, he is a very good basketball player. After high school, he will enter the Marines. Fred Levitan A finished gentleman from top to toe. Football 2, 3. Fred is one good looking senior who takes his studies nonchalantly. Fred is a flawless dresser and is fond of merry-making. He is an accomplished dancer and an excellent swimmer. Fred hopes to attend business school. Robert Edward Lidberg He is .always light of heart. Basketball. Lindy, as he is called by many, is a little fellow, but size is of little account. He is fond of basketball and has spent many afternoons playing at the Y. He is very quick and olever in a basketball game, especially for F. H. S. PAGE 18 CLASS OF '46 Lendell Morrell Lockhart There is mischief in this man. ■Dramatic Club 2, 3, Relay 3. Mike likes cars and so, naturally, he likes to drive. He also likes to ski and fount and to have fun. He has no plans for the future, but has an ambition to be a bus driver. Robert Alfred Luonia The world knows little of its greatest men. Band, Orchestra, 1 , 2, 3, 4, Dramatic Club, Class Motto Committee, 3, Round Table 4. Bob is one of our fine musicians. How the band will miss Bob and his horn. He is noted for his ability in the classroom especially in math and chemistry. Rumors say that he is quite a fine Sunday School teacher. James Joseph Marotta A safe companion and an easy friend. Rated as one of the smaller members of our class, Jimmie spends most of his afternoons working at W. T. Grant and Co. Jim is another sports follower; be is always well informed as to football and basketball scores. His other main interests are bowling and swimming. Jim has made no future plans as yet. Donald Clark Marsh 1 had rather have a fool to make me merry, Than experience to make me sad. Donald's trademark is his joking voice heard all over the school. He is always in a gay mood and he keeps all his friends laughing. His hobbies include the movies and 6ports. He plans to attend Massachusetts State Col- lege. Frank Martines The stars shine, so does an athlete. Football, Baseball, Basketball, Dramatic Club. Marty, was not only a co-captain of the Red Raiders last season, but he was also a triple threat in the back- held. He doesn't take school too seriously but he gets along. As you can see, he likes football, but his future 6tatus is unknown. Nicholas Joseph Martines A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance. Band, 3, 4, Dramatic Club 4. Nicky is a big carefree fellow who always has some- thing to say, usually something funny. He plays a pretty good trumpet. His only hobby is having a good time. He has no definite plans for the future. Paul Edward McNally Seniors! Seniors! Rah-rah-rah! Debating 2, 3, Cheerle ader, Senior Class Play 4. Paul was one of the senior cheerleaders and did a bang up job. He wasn't a player but he certainly backed up the fellows on the team with .that — what da ya say. Let's have some more noise — let's go, hip hip. Paul is also one of the youngest junior radio announcers in the country. He keeps the boys at second lunch amused with those jokes of his. Francis is a tall, dark young lad from the South Side. He is quiet and always ready to listen to others. Bob is a perfect example of the strong, silent type. H's friends testify to hits joviality away from old F. H. S., but while in school he says very -little. Dick is a quiet, unassuming fellow whose main in- terest is aeronautics. An active member of the Air Scouts, he can often be found at his work bench constructing a model airplane. Smitty, as the fellows call him, is a good-natured fellow who doesn't like sports too well, but he always appears at all school functions. Smitty is not too anxious about his studies but he is good-natured and well-liked by his fellow classmates. He played in the varsity backfield this year, and is also a very good dancer. Because of his wit and humor, Kenny 'has made countless friends in both bis home town, Westminster, and in school. He particularly enjoys tripping the light fantastic. Evelyn is a petite member of our class. Although we were sometimes deceived by her reserve, we soon found a fun loving miss beneath that calm exterior.
