Dignity, poise, and personality have made Pete a popular and successful president. Although he had an injured knee and could not participate in strenuous sports, Pete enjoyed hunting and watching the more active sports. He had to be away from us part of the time this year because he elected the machine- shop course, but he carried out his official duties just the same. Since machines, have always fascinated him, Pete plans to become a navy machinist. Football 2 Class President 3, 4 Bend Sales and Junior Victory Committee Thanksgiving and Senior Prom Ticket Committee Seneca Perry Congdon Gee, but I'm a busy man! Perry was one of the lucky ones who started in at Tufts in January. We missed his wise-cracking and joking which helped make him so popular as our class treasurer. On the serious side, Perry's ability to get results in all that he did, will probably carry him far in the future. He was particularly interested in dramatics, dancing, swimming, eating, talking, and any class activity. Class Treasurer Dramatic Club Treasurer French Club 1 Student Council 1, 2 Debating Club 2 Open Meeting Barbara Jean Stevens Things won are done, joy's scraZ lies in the doing. A pair of big brown eyes, a captivating smile and personality plus best describe our worthy vice-president. Barby has been an irreplaceable constit- uent of the class of '43. What would our cheering section have done without Barby? Or the Dramatic Club or the Red and Gray? Always bubbling over with joy Barb was never found to be a dull companion. Basketball 2; Dramatic Club 2, 3, 4 Cheer Leader, Red and Gray 3, 4 Open Meeting 3; Class Vice-President. Jean Marie Rowan Never idle a moment, but thrifty and thoughtful of others. A pretty, blond secretary is the dream of every business man. The class of '43 has the perfect model in Jeanie. But, to the contrary, she plans to be a libra- rian. Despite her many official duties, Jeanie finds the time to play basketball, keep on the honor roll and be one of the most popular girls in school. Johnny distinguished himself on the cinder track both in school and out. His favorite hobby is fishing. John has also been a great help to the Dramatic Club as a stage hand. His principal recreations are tennis, bowling, swimming, and skiing. He has won the Prize Speaking Contest the last two years. He plans to go to Cornell University after gradua- tion. Harold was one of the efficient business managers of the Boulder. For a hobby he collects phono- graph records. Harold is a male nurse at the Burbank Hospital. After graduation he intends to en- ter the Army Medical Corps. Dramatic Club 3, 4 William Joseph Bacha The harder the task, the greater the achievement. Bill is a black-haired, tall, stout lad. Afternoons and nights Bill likes to bowl and skate. Collecting road maps is his unusual but in- teresting hobby. Red and Gray 3, 4 Arthur Sparrow Banks A man is what he knoweth. Hail to the Editor of our Red and Gray! When Art is not busy with his book or butterfly collec- tion he can usually be found on the tennis courts. After school he works at an Esso Service Station. He is a great bowling fan; he also has a good collection of stamps. Francis is a tall, quiet, good looking boy who goes in for base- ball, basketball, and roller skating. He is interested in aviation and collects aviation pictures. Walt will long be remembered by Fitchburg H'gh students for his playing with dance orchestras, and his brilliant saxophone and clarinet so'os. He plans to become a ma- chinist. Band 3, 4, Orchestra 3, 4 PAGE 12 19 4 3 BOULDER Christine A bell She's modest as any and blithe as she's bonnie. Chris is a very pleasant girl with a ready smile. Being musically in- clined she enjoys singing in a church choir. She likes swimming, bicycle riding, hiking, and skating. After graduation she intends to en- ter a school to prepare for church work. Ping-pong Volleyball Dramatic Club 2 Basketball 3 Phyllis Louise Alario She burns with the fire of good nature. Phyllis is a dark-eyed, black- haired, attractive girl. Although piano playing comes first, other principal recreations are skating, dancing, and bicycle riding. Phyllis plans to become a hairdresser. Dramatic Club 3, 4 Glee Club 4 Anastasia Anna Angelos A classmate sincere and true. Anastasia is an attractive dark complexioned girl who is rather quiet. She has a very complete collection of pictures of movie stars. Pauline Claire Antil True worth is in being, not seeming. Pauline, an ardent roller skater, is also verv fond of bowling and reading. Her hobby is collecting post cards from all over the world. When she graduates she hopes to go into Civil Service. Volleyball 2 Dramatic Club 3, 4 Jennie Philomena Arcangeli Truth has a quiet breath. Jennie, a part time student, works for Mr. Stevenson. Her fa- vorite pastimes are reading and bowling. She plans to do office work. Mary Baho A friend may well be reckoned the masterpiece of nature. Mary is a small dark complex- ioned girl. She is a very enthusias- tic bicyclist. Mary has a fine col- lection of stamps and also an in- teresting scrapbook of the present war. Glee Club 2, 4 Basketball 2, 3, 4 Dramatic Club 2, 3, 4 Lucy Bernice Balekones Quiet and good-natured is she. Lucy is slightly on the tall side. She is quite athletic and enjoys swimming, bowling, and playing tennis. Her hobby is collecting rec- ords. Lucy plans to attend business school. Basketball Beverley Jane Beane Talent and wit, an excellent combination. Beanie is an appropriate nick- name for our class genius. She has wen many prizes for excellence in her studies. She is very quiet most of the time, but on occasion shrieks with laughter. Volleyball 2 Basketball 2, 3, 4 Dramatic Club 3, 4 Red and Gray i, 4 PACK 13 BOULDER 19 4 3 Victor Hereford Boeckh A man of hope and forward- looking mind. Herf, is a tall, slim, good-looking fellow. Herf, as a basketball play- er, is well known for his good sportsmanship. He plans to join the Merchant Marine. Football 2 Baseba'l, Basketball 3 Junior-Senior Reception Relay Team 2, 3 Philip Samuel Bonaffini A decent boldness ever meets with friends. Bill was quite a player on our football team, but his career was cut short by an injury. He has re- ceived several prizes for his art work. He plans to see the world in the U. S. Navy. Football 2, 3 Basketball 2, 3 Chester Alexander Bonnaliie His limbs are cut for hardy sports. Chet has ability in all sports, but he shines especially in baske;ball. We are also told that he is a crack hunter and fisherman. Basketball 2, 3, 4 Football 2, 3 Relay Team Dramatic Club 4 Camille Edward Boudreau Of their own merits, modest men are silent. Camille, our handsome lad from Cleghorn, is envied for his dimples by all the girls. Many a football player has been hit too, and hard, by this Cleghorn whirlwind. Ca- mille is a solid sender of jive. Football 4 Edward Charles Bouvier A very riband in the cap of youth. Ed is a small, quiet, easy-going young fellow. His chief forms of recreation are hunting and bowl- ing. Ed is interested in aviation and collects model airplanes. He intends to enlist in the Army Air Corps. Basketball Robert Bernard Bray Nothing deters a good man from the performance of his duties. Bob is six feet of well developed brawn with a deep bass voice. Bowling, music, and skiing take up much of his time and his old coin collection is the talk of South Fitchburg. Some day soon Bob hopes to be a member of the U. S. Merchant Marine. Glee Club 3, 4 Victor William Brown The outward conduct indicates the secrets of the heart. Vic has brown curly hair and brown eyes. His principal recrea- tions are bowling, swimming, and archery. His principal hobby is Biology. He plans to enter some branch of aviation. Red and Gray 2, 3, 4 Councillor 2, 3 Glee Club 3, 4 Dramatic Club 3, 4 Harry Joseph Bryant Speech is the mirror of the soul. Harry is blond and curly-haired. He is fond of football and was a member of the school team. He in- tends to go to college after grad- uation. Pearl is an attractive brunette, who is very active and loves hik- ing and swimming. Pearl has her own way of relaxing while knitting. She would like to be a stenog- rapher. Basketball 2, 4 Volleyball 2, French Club 2 Dramatic Club 2, 3, 4 Hockey 3 Doris Mary Belliveau It is a friendly heart that has plenty of friends. Doris is a small, soft-spoken brunette. Her principal forms of recreation are bowling, skating, bike riding, and dancing. She col- lects snapshots and photos. She plans to become a nurse or a WAVE after graduation. Ping-pong, Deck Tennis 2 Glee Club 3, 4 Hockey 4 Lucille Dolores Belliveau A lovely girl to meet and know. Lu is noted for her lovely curly chestnut brown hair. She is very clever with a needle, and her clothes show this. After gradua- tion, she plans to be a dietician. Basketball, Hockey Glee Club 3, 4 Betty Mae Bent She has a wish to smile, no need to sigh. Betty is very musical and en- joys playing the piano, singing, and dancing. She intends to enter the nursing profession. Dramatic Club 2 Ping-pong 3, 4 Glee Club 3, 4 Hockey 4 Pauline Louise Berndt Reproof on her lips, but a smile in her eye. Polly left us in December to go to California. She has won prizes for essays and posters, and enjoys horseback riding, sports as a spec- tator, and reading. She intends to go to college. Dramatic Club 2, 3, 4 Junior Prom Committee 3 Red and Gray 2, 3, 4 Ring Committee 3 Josephine Winifred Berry Simplicity in all things is hardest to lie copied. Small, dark-haired Jo is very quiet but a good sport. Her hob- bies include sewing, movies, and reading. She plans to work in a defense plant. Pauline Jeanette Blanchette The well of true wit is truth itself. Pauline is a very quiet girl with lovely wavy brown hair. Pauline earns extra pennies by working in Grants as a part-timer. Her prin- cipal recreations are dancing, skating, hiking, and bicycle riding. After graduation, she plans to be- come a nurse. He is not only a football star, but an enthusiastic skier and skater. He has joined the Navy. Bill is interested in archery, swimming, fencing, and almost all outdoor sports. The College Spa will lose its most likeable soda- jerk when Bill joins the armed services. Umberto Robert Catalini That smirk of mirth and tladness, and that flash of mischief to. Umberto is a blond, green-eyed lad, with a marvelous sense of humor. He enjoys hunting, skating, swimming, and camping. He is a collector of popular piano rolls. He plans to attend college. Track Team, Debating Club 2 Dramatic Club 2 William Irving Cerier A ready and steady chap, He wends his way along. Bill came to F. H. S. in his junior year and since then has been ac- cepted as a regular guy. His close- cropped curly head can often be seen bent over some science book. He is a rabid stamp collector, and plans to enter medical school. Gordon Vincent Cleveland Character makes its own destiny. Gordon is a well built, humorous boy who is fond of bowling and was in the school bowling league last year. Gordon is a member of the Y. M. C. A., where he takes part in weight lifting. He plans to enlist in the Air Corps. Relay Team. Raymond George Clouthier He who it hottest is noble, whatever his fortune may be. Raymond is a happy-go-lucky fellow who likes bowling and wind sailing. He is one of many camera fans. Raymond has taken the ma- chinist course and hopes to enter the Navy. Track 2 Michael Francis Celuzza Better a wit than a sage. Mike is a black-haired, brown- eyed lad with a marvelous sense of humor. Being energetic, he loves all active sports. He intends to enlist in the United States Navy. Manager, Football Team. George Joseph Colello The champion trv . Loves victory more when dim in view. George is a dark-haired fellow with brown eyes. He is well known among the students as a good foot- ball player. H;s principal recrea- tions are football, baseball, and bisketball. He plans to join the Navy. Lorraine is a dark-haired girl of average height. Her principal rec- reations are bowling, ice skating, roller skating, skiing, swimming, and fishing. Her hobbies are col- lecting post cards, and making scrap books of interesting things about Fitchburg. She plans to be- come a telephone operator in the Army or Navy. Basketball 2, 3 Glee Club 3, 4 Dramatic Club 4 Mildred Anne Brown Full of mischief, a jolly good sort. Mildred has blond hair and is one of our taller classmates. She likes reading as well as such sports as swimming and bowling. An ad- mirer of Katherine Hepburn, she collects pictures of her favorite star. Mildred plans to take up nursing. Volleyball 2 Tennis 2, 3 Basketball 2, 3, 4 Dramatic Club 2, 3, 4 Lillian Lucille Bray Her words were simple and her heart sincere. Lu has dark eyes and hair. Lu- cille is a powerful athlete. Her sport interest centers around bas- ketball, swimming,, and ice skating. Basketball 2, 3, 4 Volleyball 2, 3, 4 Dramatic Club 2, 4 Merlyn Heywood Brennan She must be known to oe appreciated. Merlyn is noted for her witty sarcasm in and out of school. She is active in sports especially swim- ming, bicycle riding, and roller skating. She has a large collection of Army pins. After graduation, she hopes to become a telephone operator in the armed forces. Field Hockey 2 Dramatic Club 2, 3, 4 Glee Club 3, 4 Anne Lawton Broome A merry heart goes all the day. Anne is often seen in the summer at the swimming pool. She also likes to bowl. For a hobby she collects antiques. Anne hopes to become a secretary. Dramatic Club Delrose Blanche Butler A good disposition that gold cannot buy. Delrose is a shy young lady with dark hair and eyes. She likes to entertain her friends with her Hawaiian guitar. Her favorite hob- by is drawing. She plans to go to an art school. Agnes Josephine Ciaschini There is no wisdom like frankness. jie is a short, smiling bru- nette. She has an interesting col- lection of stamps. After graduation she plans to become a bookkeeper. Dramatic Club Phyllis Muriel Clark Tall and slender, grace has she. Phyllis is well known for her curly hair and sunny smile. Danc- ing, swimming, or working, Phil is noted for her good humor. She plans to attend business college. Hockey, Basketball 2, 4 Dramatic Club 4 Thanksgiving Dance 4 PAGE 17 BOULDER 19 4 3 Robert Joseph Dauphinais A champion courts danger, and considers what he may accomplisii not what he may suffer. Robert is rather big and used his weight on the foo'.ball team l?st year. He was President of the St. Joseph Cadets and won many medals directing them. He has chosen aviation as his work af.er finishing this year. Raymond Francis Donovan find earth not gray, but rosy. Ray, is a tall, blond, handsome fellow. Baseball and ping-pong are his favorite pastimes. Formally of Natick, he is spending his first year at 'F. H. S. Being very business- like he hopes to attend the School of Accounting at the University of Alabama. Carl Thomas Douai In ivliose little body lodged a merry mind. Carl has curly sandy hair and cute eyes. He has a large and varied collection of rocks for his hcbby. Carl has won many medals from the Y.'M.C.A. He plans to go to college. Football 2 (Relay 3 Dramatic Club 4 Color Committee Duncan Douglas None but himself can be his parallel. Duncan is a small, good-natured, well-liked student. His principal recreation is basketball. He is in- terested in aviation and music and is a member of the high school band. Duncan plays in many in- dependent orchestras. He would like to join the Air Corps after graduation. Relay 3 Robert Joseph Duval For they conquer who believe they can. Bob's quiet exterior hides his buoyant humor, and his keen love for hunting and driving. His prac- tical nature makes him a logical choice for a machinist course. He, too, plans to enter the Navy. Robert William Erickson So much is a man worth who esteems himself. Robert has been one of our ef- ficient stage hands. He likes to hunt and to collect stamps. He is also an adept builder of model air- planes. Robert has taken the machinist course and intends to be- come a machinist. James Femino d'-'P do all that may become a man, Who dares do moie, is none. Jick, although quiet, is a good athlete and has done a good job on our basketball and baseball teams. He soends his leisure time hunting and f'shing. He plans to go to Holy Cross to study chemistry. Basketball 2, 3, 4 Baseball 3, 4 Anthony Santo Ferrara The will to do, the soul to dare. Tony is a well-liked, brawny athlete, who takes part in all ac- tive sports, but football, basebill, and basketball in particular. His hobby is collecting pictures of famous sport characters. Lou has merry blue eyes, a hearty chuckle, and an ever ready wit. A versatile person, she enjoys reading, riding, swimming, and especially basketball games. In the future she hopes to be L. Comley, R.N. Glee Club 3 Dramatic Club 4 Councillor Norma Jean Condon Always friendly as can be. Norma has sparkling eyes and twinkling dimples. Fishing, swim- ming, ice skating, and studying keep her busy after school. She plans to take up office work or teaching. Dramatic Club 4 Elizabeth Cook To be merry becomes you. Betty is about 5 ft. 5 in. tall with light brown hair. Her favorite recreations are bowling, riding, and skiing. She has large collections of s'amps and pic'ures. She plans to join the WAACs aft;r graduat'ng. Hockey 4 B ske'ha'l 4 Glee Club Dramatic Club Janet Louise Cossaboom Perseverance keeps honor bright. Janet is a gay miss from West- minster.
