1942 Winston Herbert Grant His failings lean to virtues side. Winny spends all his spare time riding on semi-trailer trucks, some- thing he seems to have inherited from his brother. He is president of Hi-Y, Aviation is his hobby. Even though he l ikes trucks he hopes to be a draftsman of some kind or another. Junior Prom Committee. Vernon Milton Griggs True as the needle to the pole. Vernon seems to get along as well in his studies as in activities out- side the school. He likes to bowl, swim, and skate, but most of all he enjoys skiing. He is a member of the Fitchburg Ski Club. After grad- uation, Vernon plans to become a machinist. Relay Team, Junior Prom Committee. Francis Stanley Hassett, Jr. Every way makes my gain. Has would like to join the navy or something analogous, but at present he fills his spare time by going to The Ashburnham Rifle Club, Hi-Y, fishing, skiing, and working at the Fitchburg Sentinel. He's very bashful with the girls but the boys know his real nature. Relay Team. Louis Albert Hatin, Jr. We want him here on earth. Louie is really interested in aviation. He makes models and plans to study aviation in the future. He is an all around sportsman and likes to swim and skate. Louis is now working for an insurance company. Track Team. John Albert Haven am the master of my fate. Johnny is a talented trumpet player who is often seen playing with orchestras at near-by dances. His other interests arc automobiles and outdoor sports. He is also a Hi-Y member. After graduation, Johnny hopes to take up mechanical engineering at Wentworth. Band, Or- chestra, Dramatic Club, Class Color Committee. Mary Elisabeth Gainey Her eyes were twinkling stars of friendship. Mary is a tall willowy girl with short black hair, well known for her talent in writing. Mary has a fine and steadily increasing collection of bracelet charms. She is interested in laboratory science and plans to attend the Wilson School in Boston to study science. Basketball, Vol- leyball, Tennis, Aerial Darts, Table Tennis, Glee Club, Dramatic Club, Open Meeting. Lucy Doris Gammel A good heart is better than all the heads in the world. Lucy enjoys all types of sports and exercise. She plays basketball, goes bowling, likes roller skating and ice skating, and is very fond of biillroom dancing. Her ambition is to be a beautician, and she plans to study at Banford Academy. Basketball, Volleyball, Deck Tennis. Cleopatra Gamvas The gentle mind by gentle deeds is known. Give Cleo a needle, thread, and a bit of cloth and she can turn out almost anything you wish. Sewing is her one particular skill. She wants to be a sewing teacher. Basketball, Volleyball, Deck Tennis. Theresa Mary Giammalvo Play up, play up, and play the game. After school, Theresa works in her father's store. Her hobbies are collecting postcards of beautiful scenery and, of all things — pins. Al- ways on the honor roll she ought to be good as a stenographer. Basket- ball, Hockey, Volleyball. Bernice Goguen She's lovely, she's divine. Bernice is one of our smallest and cutest seniors. She has a cheerful disposition and a merry smile. She is very fond of roller skating. 1942 Wilfred Joseph Godin Let gentleness my stronr enforcement he. Wilfred is very much interested in aeronautics and spends much of his time studying aviation. After graduation he hopes to become an airplane mechanic. Thomas Colman Gould The only tvay to Iiave a friend is to be one. Tommy, six feet three inches, is one of the tallest boys in this school. He is well-known for his suave polished manners. He is an active member of the Hi-Y Club. His hobby is repairing auto engines. After graduation, he intends to work in an aircraft engine factory. John Alden Goyette Plain without pomp, and rich without a shoiv. El Tio Jay (Spanish for Uncle Jay) is an all around man, although not very far around the middle. He is a new member of Hi-Y and a fairly old hand at Geology among other things. The navy is his desti- nation when he finishes school. Track, French Club, Dramatic Club, Glee Club, Junior Prom Committee. Charles Joseph Granata Ambition has no rest. Charlie came to Fitchburg High in his junior year. His chief interests are basketball and the girls. Because of the defense movement, Charlie plans joining the navy after graduation. James Paul Grant Good nature is a special cliarm. Shy little Jimmy has shown definite signs of becoming much more lively and mischievous lately. He has brown wavy hair and an easy blush. His favorite sport is hunting in Westminster, his home town. Jimmy plans to vacation a year and then join the Navy. Relay Team. Edith Ingaborg Forss Much wisdom often (loes with feicest words.'' Edie is a part-timer, where beautiful penmanship is much appre- ciated. Outside school she finds interior decorating interesting. Her hobby is snapshot taking with her friend.' as subjects. She intends to study stenography in the hope of becoming a private secretary. Janette Gertrude Fortin Affection warm and faith sincere. Janette came to Fitchburg for her senior year from Lewiston High School in Maine. She is Gmall and dark, and persists in being late to school. Janette was a member of the Gamma Phi Delta Sorority and Senior Girl Reserves in Maine. She plans to take up writing lyrics for popular songs. Dramatic Club. Edna Foss Gentle, yay, happy, and kind A better friend you'll never find. Eddie's auburn locks and radiant smile reflect her gentle loving spirit. She is greatly fascinated by aeronautics and her secret passion i'3 to become an aviatrix. After graduation, Eddie plans to become a dancing teacher. Aerial Darts, Table Tennis, Volleyball. Rita Virginia Fournier A spirit ( iy, (iiid kiiiilly heart. Rita likes to dance. Although her main interest lies in stamp collect- ing, Rila collects card folders from different cities. She won the second year French Prize. After graduating, Rita plans to take a nurse's train- ing course. Basketball, Ping Pong, Aerial Darts, French Club, Dramatic Club, Cik-e Cl ub. 1942 David Earle Hay He is witty, he is wise. He's a terror for his size. Bud is always well-dressed. He spends his free time working in Montuori's garage and also drives a snappy roadster of his own. Intra- mural Basketball, Glee Club. Frank Henry Healey Devout yet cfieerftil, active yet resigned. Frank works as a clerk in Brockelman's Market after school, and still he manages to get his homework done to perfection. Frank is a good chess player and likes to bowl. He intends to study engineering at Worcester Tech after graduating. Relay Team, Debating Club, Junior Prom Committee, Write-up Committee for Boulder. Norman Edward Hecker When he speaks, he speaks his mind. Norman, our tall rangy tennis captain, also played guard on our basketball team. When not engaged in either of these sports, he works in Brockelman's Market. His serious expression shows nothing of his fun-loving disposition. He is undecided as to his plans for the future. Tennis, Basketball, German Club. David Joseph Herlihy He touches nothing but he adds a charm. Dave is an all around sportsman who enjoys hunting, fishing, golf and bowling. Dave may be found at all the dances. After graduation he plans to enter a prep school, then to go on to college. Glee Club, Marshal. Douglas Elwood Hicks He thinks before he speaks. Everyone likes Dougie who always says bright things. He is an active member of the Westminster Band and the high school one. He likes dancing, especially the old-fashioned kind. He plans to be a car- penter. Band, Orchestra. Eleanore Irene Gould The sweet speech of her alluring eyes. Collecting post-cards and raising kittens are two of Eleanore's favorite pastimes. She wants to attend a business college and become a doctor's assistant. Dramatic Club. Shirley Edson Gray At times quiet, at times gay She has moods to suit the day. Shirley sometimes puzzles even her friends. One moment she is quiet and dreamy, and the next, she becomes high spirited and ready for fun. She enjoys dancing very much. She plans to beautify American woman- hood as a hairdresser. Glee Club, Dramatic Club. Lucille Claire Grenier She's here, she's there, slie'x nil about Lots of pep and a real good, scout. This little French girl has big blue eyes and long brown hair. She belonged to the Girl Scouts for eight years; she collects old sayings and mottoes. Lucille is very active and is proud that she comes from Westminster. She plans to be a child psychologist. Dramatic Club, Glee Club. Dorothea Mae Grieumard A quiet manner hid the mischief in her eye. Dot has beautiful serious hazel eyes. She has been working for the past year as a Nurse's Aid at the Burbank Hospital. She has also been a member of the Girl Scouts for six year.s and spends her spare moments designing clothes and in other art work. Dottic later plans to enter the Roosevelt Hospital School of Nursing m New York. Dramatic Club. Betty Anne Hakkila I'll find a uvty or make one. Shy little Betty, from Westminster, has strikingly blond hair. She works part-time at the school library for Miss Sherwin. Her main in- terests at pre.sent arc football and basketball games, driving a car, and dancing. She plans to work in an office after high school. Dramatic Club.
