Billy is one of our gayest seniors. His curly black hair and his friendly grin identiify him anywhere. He is one of our best skiers. Most out-door sports, such as hunting, have a magnetic allure for him. Relay Team. Dramatic Club, President of CItss, Red and Gray. Betty Eileen Freeman She's a wi isome wee thiny. Betty, our tiny vice-president, is noted for her lovely blond hair, blue eyes, and sparkling smile. She is the able secretary of the Dra- matic Club. She was lucky enough to be chosen a junior member of the Woman's Club. She is very talented in the dramatic field, which is shown by her winning second prize in the Prize Speaking contest her sophomore and junior years. Betty wants to do secretarial work after graduation. Dramatic Club, French Club, Vice-president of Class, Open meeting, Prize Speaking, Councillor, Snow White Revue. Louise Pauline Woodward There's a garden in her face Where roses and white lilies grow. Louise always has a charming bright smile and is without doubt one of the best known and most popular girls in the senior class. She has been secretary of her class for two years. Bowling is her best liked hobby and one of her favorite sports. Her future plans are uncertain. Basketball, French Club, Dramatic Club, Secretary of Class, Marshal, Councillor, Drum Majorette. William Russell Bingham The youth of a nation are the trustees of its posterity. Bill has been a well-known and very well liked cornerstone of our class since the very first days of its being. He is an all around sport, majoring in bowling, hunting, and golf. He is an active member in the Ki-Y and a very able leader. He enjoys driving a car. He would like to go to Worcester Tech. Track, Treasurer of Class, Councillor, Marshal. 1942 BOULDER Raymond Everett Aho Anfl gladly v)Ould lie learn. Ray seems to be a mental genius, one who always does things the hard way and gets the right answer. His future work will be chemical or electrical engineering. He captured the Math Prize last year. Dra- matic Club, Orchestra, Bowling League. Donald Joseph Anderson Silence often of pure innocence persuades. Don's pet hobby is mountain climbing. There is nothing he enjoys more than a good stiff climb or a week in t:he basement of the Enter- prise. After graduation he plans to take up mining engineering. Christo Antonio An ounce of wit is worth a pound of sorrow. The camera fiend of Fitchburg High, Chris has been engaged re- cently in building a large reflecting telescope, grinding and mounting all the lenses himself. As yet he has made no definite plans regarding his future occupation. Glee Club, Dramatic Club, German Club. Raynald Joseph Arsenault am the very pink of courtesy. Ray likes action; he shows this in his wholehearted enjoyment of bowling and skating. In his quieter moments he is interested in stamp collecting. He plans to enter a trade school after graduation. Tennis, French Club, Glee Club, Dramatic Club. Richard Arthur Arvo Potoer is the measure of manhood- Richard came to Fitchburg for his senior year from Gardner where he was a Pro Merito member. He likes outdoor sports, builds model airplanes, and has a fine singing voice. At present he is working at the Fitchburg Auto Electric Company. He hopes to go to an aviation school. Janice Abell Ever loyal, ever true to the task she has to do. Jan has proved herself an efficient :ecretary, part-timing for Miss Ranney and Mr. Hubbard. She sings in the First Baptist Church choir. Interested in the Christian Endeavor society, she hopes, in the future, to continue her activities in the church. P;' jketball, Hockey, Volleyball, Deck Tennis, Table Tennis, Dramatic Club, Glee Club, Junior Prom Committee, Snow White Revue. Eleanor Louise Adams The softer charm that in her manner lies Is framed to captivate yet not surprise. Louise has a beautiful singing voice which she demonstrates in the Christ Church Choir, and the Fitchburg Choral Club. She is a member of the Mariners and a junior member of the Woman's Club. She plans to studv nursing at the New England Baptist Hospital in Boston. Glee Club, Dramatic Club, Latin Club, Red and Gray Board, Junior- Senior Reception, Boulder. Bernice Agnes Albecki Officious, innocent, and sincere. Bernice has mastered the art of playing the Hawaiian guitar. When she is not busy entertaining, she takes time out to roller skate and collect snapshots. Someday if you are seeking a typist look up Bernice. Barbara Leavenworth Ames Her pencil drew whatever her soul designed, Barbara is a twinkling-eyed and lively miss. She is very talented in art and has been responsible for much of the attractive art work about school. She hopes to continue in art. Dramatic Club, Red and Gray. Doris Hope Anderholm Her lauijliter liad a clearer ring Than all the bubbliny of a sprinr . Doris is one of our gay curly haired commercial beauties. Her cheery laughter has brightened many a gray day. She came to us from New York four years ago. After graduation she plans to become li dietician. Hockey, Table Tennis. jf H y ' Sii e Page 9 1942 James Harold Bacha Quiet persons are welcome everyivhere. James keeps to his own small circle of friends whom he amuses with his quiet wit. For sports, boxing, baseball, and swimming hold his in- terest. He is quite a photography expert and collects candid shots. After June, James plans to sail oS with the navy. Edward Said Baho No worries ever trouble him. Eddie, or Farjo as he is known to most of us, played second base oil the baseball team. He follows all sports, and is a member of the Lowe Athletic Club. He plans to become a machinist after com- pleting high school. Baseball. Paul Christ Baimas A man is what he knoweth. Paul is tall, very dark, and sleek-looking. He is the rare type that favors both languages and science. H; spends his spare time working at the Fitchburg Office Supply Company and collecting car'oons of foreign countries. Paul wishes later to attend Harvard Medical School. Red and Gray Advertising Manager. Levio Baldarelli His presence illumines ever the cloudy day. This dark-eyed boy surely does a good job at hitting the pins in a bowling alley. Many strikes and spares are chalked up for him during a match. Robert Angus Baldwin I will find a way or make one. Bob is working on a farm and at Tri-City Dairy. He would like to go to Mass. State College and specialize in animal husbandry and dairying, then he would like to get , civil service job as Inspector of Dairies. Class Color and Flower Committee, Councillor. Josephine Aveni As merry as the day is long. Jo is a dark-eyed beauty known for her chic hair styles. The movies, skiing and skating, or a swift set of tennis have a magnetic allure for her. After graduation you may find her as a sales person in a gown shop or as an operator in a beauty parlor. Basketball. Theresa Edna Babineau The strongest minds are often those of whom the noisy world hears least. Theresa's quiet manner is apt to make people think that she is verv serious. The Girl Scouts are one of her many interests; she is also adept at writing, as she has received several prizes f or essays here in school. After graduation, Theresa plans to enter a school of nursing. Volleyball, Basketball, Table Tennis, Dramatic Club, Debating Club. Lois Griselda Badstiibner The shortest pleasrires are the sweetest. The saying, Knee high to a grasshopper, fits Lois to a T. Yet, she is full of fun, every inch of her and her classmates will always re- member her sweet smile and cheery hello. Lois is a ski fan. She plans to be a secretary after graduation. Dramatic Club, Senior Class Prophecy Committee. Jean Elizabeth Bamiord A perfect woman, nobly planned To warm, comfort, and command. Jean won the Spanish-American war ecsay first prize, two years in .'.uccession. Also, she obtained 4th prize in the national Blue Coal essay contest, and 4th prize in Nichols and Frost wardrobe contest. Jean plans to enter Teachers College for two years and then spe- c'alizc in laboratory technique in Worcester City Hospital. Girls' Debating Club. Irene May Bean Honors, hif her honors, and renown. Irene is a rosy cheeked blond haired girl with a winning smile. She i.-i one of the quieter members of the class who take school work very seriously. Irene's future is all planned, for she is to be married soon after graduation. 1942 Walter Edwin Barholm Speech is great, but silence is greater. Walter is seen but not heard very often. He has pure blond hair. His one and only great interest is in the musical field. He plays in an orchestra and wants to learn to handle every type of instrument. He plans to enter some musical institution after graduation. Anthony Joseph Barone The truly generous is the truly wise. Tony is one of the shortest fellows in the class. After school he helps himself to ice cream at Barone's Pharmacy. In his spare time, he visits dance halls and skating arenas. Richard Arnold Bauman ''He is always laughing, for he )ias an infinite deal of wit. Dick is a tall, lanky fellow, who t'me and again has proved him- self an accomplished comedian. Besides playing in both the band and orchestra, he was a dependable half-miler on our track team. His in- terest in ships has led him to hope that someday he may become a ship's officer in the Merchant Marine. Track Team, Band, Orchestra, Dramatic Club, Class Motto, Relay. Paul Tony Bellaiiore As carefree and gay as a March breeze, Paul is a dark and rather quiet person who finds enjoyment in the cut-door sports of golfing and hunting. Paul would like to attend Trade School and become a machinist. Football. Edward John Bennett He mixes reason with pleasure. Eddie is one of those boys who have grown over night. He likes sandlot football and basketball. Eddie does not wish to reveal the future, but you may rest assured that he will continue his work with the trumpet. Priscilla Bertha Beaulieu Tlie kind of girl who doesn't sliirk And is always ready to do her work. Priscilla is one of our efficient part-timers. She has long brown hair and smiling eyes. She is a newcomer to Westminster. Her pastime is knitting. Her ambition is to go to business school and take book- keeping. Diamond Pary Bicoules She's all my fancy painted her. Diamond is noted for her good nature. She is an active girl scout and a member of the Holy Trinity Choir. Diamond excels in athletics, particularly ba.sketball. She was one of those lucky girls who re- ceived an athletic award her sophomore year for being a volleyball champ. Basketball, Hockey, Volleyball, Dramatic Club. Dorothy Elizabeth Blanchard Her pleasant air and happy smile Make her a friend rvorthwhile. Dot wears a radiant .smile even after a two hour test in chcm. After graduation Dot intends to go to college and then to become a nurse. Basketball, Deck Tennis, Ping Pong, Dramatic Club. Phyllis Jean Blood A jovial coaxing way she had. Phyllis is short, and dark, with lovely brown eyes. She enjoys skiing, swimming, and hunting in particular. Phyl's one main am- bition and desire is to own a fashion shop. Basketball, Badminton, Deck Tennis, Dr,miatic Club. Cecile Claire Bouchard Lips never part but they show Of precious pearls the double row. A tiny girl with big interests. She loves knitting, dancing, bowling, and sewing. Many of Cecile's smart clothes have been made by her own lily-white hands. She is sunny and cheers up even the worse glooms. She hopes to attend Framingham Teachers College to become a sewing teacher. Volleyball, Basketball, Aerial Darts, Deck Tennis, Glee Club, Thanksgiving Dance Committee. BOULDER Page 11 BOULDER Page 12 1942 Leon Dana Bevis Happy as the day is long. Dana is a very active and mischievous boy from Westminster, vhose brown eyes just glitter when he springs jokes, which is often. He belongs to the Westminster Sportsman's Club. He works after school at the Goodrich Box Shop. William Alexander Biliouris He's always light of heart. Bill is one of our noisiest seniors and seems to take school in a nonchalant manner. He is a member of the Y.M.C.A. and the Greek Athletic Club. He hopes to be a commercial flyer, or fly in the armed forces of U.S.A. Junior-Senior Relay Race. Albert Bordeleau Gentle of speech, beneficient of mind. Albert's chief interest is airplanes and this may explain why he is always walking with his mind in the air. Despite his school and air- plane studies, he finds time to take part in sports and to work on his hobby — raising pigeons. Relay Team, Glee Club. Francis Gilbert Bouvier Success by industry and labor. Francis is a dark haired, well-dressed fellow from Cleghorn. He makes many of us think of Joe DiMaggio. He is interested in taking snapshots and has many photos of the opposite sex. He is uncertain about his plans after graduation. Bowling. Richard Anthony Bresnahan His limbs (ire cast in manly moulds. Dick is tall, light, and goodlooking, with a beautiful Irish temper. His interests seem to be sleeping, foo'.ball, basketball, and baseball. Dick intends to let West Point take care of him when he finishes F.H.S. Football, Basketball, Class Ring Committee, Class Prophecy Committee, Student Council. Marshal. Rita Mary Boucher Nothing is impossible to industry. Although Rita is very shy and quiet in school, she gets around out- side. Swimming, skating, and tennis occupy her spare time and that doesn't sound like sitting at home. She would like to enter a paper mill when she finishes school. Alice Rose Brasili She is a constant friend, a true companion and a sweet all around girl. Although quiet, she is very attractive. She has long, light brown hair and bright green eyes. Surprisingly enough, her hobbies are sewing and reading. She. has not yet planned her future. Basketball, Volleyball, Table Tennis. Jane Ann Bridge A merry ticinkle of the eye. (Jane earned some extra pennies this last summer by working in an antique shop on Fairbanks Hill, Lunenburg. She was interested in Forestry in a 4-H club at Kecne, N. H., and enjoys bowling. Jane plans to specialize in Interior Decoration. Hockey, Basketball, Volley- ball, Badminton, Aerial Darts, Archery, Deck Tennis, Dramatic Club, Drum Majorette. Virginia Irene Broome Forxcard, and frolic glee was there The will to do, the soul to dare. Ginny just bubbles over with laughter when she hears a good joke. She enjoys sports, especially basketball, for she belongs to Reipas. Ginny later plans to train to be a nurse. Basketball, Hockey, Aerial Darts, Badminton, Volleyball, Debating Club, Drum Majorette. Sylvia Virginia Brown A lieart to pity and a hand to bless. Sylvia is an active outdoor girl. She also works part-time in Wool- worth's in Leominster. Sylvia is a member of the Senior C.E. of the First Baptist church in Leominster. She plans to be a secretary after graduation. 1942 Thomas Leonard Briggs Stately, kindly, lordly, friend, Tom is a member of the football and basketball teams. Tom is a good dancer, and his hobby is collecting recordings. After graduation he plans to enter a prep school. Football, Basketball, Councillor, Junior-Senior Committee. Charles Skene Broome, Jr. A good laugh is sunshine in a house. Charlie's interests center around sports; hunting, swimming, fishing, and hockey. He can give very interesting oral talks also, which in- variably have their humorous side. He plans to be a machinist. Foot- ball, Track, Bowling. Ralph Anthony Buratti A true friend is forever a friend. The quotation, The more one knows, the less he talks, im- mediately brings Ralph to mind. Judging from his infrequent talks with students he must store up plenty of information. He builds model air- planes and boats. His ambition is to be a machinist. Relay Team, Touch Football, Intramural Basketball. Robert Burton So well he acted every part. Bob is another outdoor boy. He is right at home in the woods with either a fishpole or a gun. Bob is a member of the Y.M.C.A., and the Fitchburg Rod and Gun Club. When through school he hopes to be- come a machinist. Football, Basketball, Track. Anthony John Cali His smile is not more sunny than his wit. Tony is one of the loudest boys in the class, but he only exercises the volume of his voice in an argument. His favorite sports are swimming and skating. Occasionally he plays football and basketball for the Columbian Juniors. Lillian May Bruneau Her face betokened all things dear and good. Lillian has a fascinating hobby of raising dogs and cats. She has read most of the books in the Fitchburg library dealing with their train- mg. She's a whiz at writing stories but doesn't display her talent often enough. This talent should help her later in newspaper work. Basket- ball. Phyllis Beverley Burger Jolly, well-liked, a good student too. Phyl may be identified by her very curly hair. She is a member of the Young People's Fellowship and secretary of the Girls' Friendly Society. She is fond of bowling. Dramatic Club, German Club, De- bating Club, Junior Prom Committee, Red and Gray. Betty Jane Butteriield Laughing and gay and full of fun. She is ever ready when frolic's begun. Betty is a dashing brunette with a cheery smile. She enjoys basket- ball but finds greater pleasure in her Denishawn dancing. Betty hopes to become a nurse. Basketball, Volleyball, Badminton, Glee Club, Dramatic Club, Thanksgiving Dance Committee. Mary Elizabeth Cackett In thy heart, the dew of youth On thy lip the smile of truth. Mary is popular, but quiet. She hails from the country, 'West Fitch- burg. She is intensely interested in her church work and is u.sually on some committee. Her ambition is to become a radio singer. Glee Club. Rachel Constance Caputi Thou hast no faults, or I no faults can spy; Thou art all beauty, or all blindness I. Ray has lovely, long naturally wavy hair. She doesn't care very much for studying, but she does like to ice skate. Ray work-s in Kresge's after school, and later she plans to become either a nurse or dress designer. Hockey, Table Tennis, Deck Tennis, Glee Club. 1942 Alfred John Ccmale His interest extends i n many directions. Alfred is one of our more loquacious students. His cheery grin and witty remarks have brightened our class rooms. Such sports as basket- ball, footrball, skating, and ping pong attract him. The navy will have another recruit after June unless Alfred becomes a metalsmith. Bertrand Caron ( is often the part of wise men to be silent. Bertrand though one of our shy and quiet students is humorous and likes to tease people. His oral talks in the classroom have been unique. He likes skating and football but stays home a good deal. He works at a grocery store and expects to continue so doing. Relay Team, Glee Club. Frederick William Carrington Magnetism in his cheerfulness. Fred is a collector of autographs of His Majesty's seamen. He plans to do a little traveling after school and there are hints of England being on his list. Bowling Team. Robert Francis Caulmare The pupil of impulse. Bob is one of our South Fitchburg boys. He is interested in stamp collecting and hunting. He also belongs to a bowling team. Bob plans to attend the Massachusetts School of Pharmacy and then become a druggist. Baseball, Councillor, Junior Prom Committee. Edward Clough His smile like sunshine darts into many a sunless heart. Eddie is a small, quiet person who works hard for his good marks. After school he works .at a butter and egg store on Main Street. Ed would like to go to Stanford University way out in California; if he doesn't go there. Brown will be his goal. Baseball, Basketball, Thanks- giving Dance Committee, Councillor. Lucille Florence Caron A good heart is worth gold. Lucille is an all around French girl. She likes most outdoor sports, and dancing, but is especially keen on roller skating. She sews well and makes most of her own clothes. She plans to go to the Peacock Academy in Worcester and become a hairdresser. Basketball, Volley- ball, French Club. Charlotte Adelaide Cate A frame of adamant, a soul of fire No dangers fright her, and no labour's tire. Charl has blue eyes and freckles that add to her appearance. Charl is a member of the Girl Scouts. She served on the Red and Gray board as chairra-an of the joke committee. After graduation Charlotte will become a member of the business world. Basketball, Volleyball, Dramatic Club, French Club, Band, Orchestra, Class Ring Committee, Junior Prom Committee, Red and Gray, Open Meeting, Marshal. Grace Ann Celona The mildest manners and the gentlest heart. Grace is a quiet person with a pleasant disposition, but a rather retiring nature. Her hobby is collecting buttons. Grace plans to enter the Banford Academy of Hairdressing after graduation. Volleyball, Deck Tennis, Dramatic Club. Dorothy Geraldine Christiansen Charm strikes the sight and merit wins the soul. Dottie has bluish-grey eyes and honey colored hair. She swims, dances, sings, and cooks. Dot plans to attend a business school after graduation to prepare for work as a stenograoher. Her big ambition is to travel the United States from shore to shore. Badminton, Table 1 ennis. Mary Ciarlone She's daring, she's darling, she's lovely. Mary is an accomplished pianist and has won a prize for her music. She collects stamps during her spare time. Mary would become either a hairdresser or a piano teacher. Basketball, Glee Club, Dramatic Club. 1942 BOULDER Arthur Edson Codding An industrious lad in every way, Arthur is tall and quiet. He is very ambitious and studious. He col- lects stamps, hunts, travels, and Ghoot.s. He wants a Civil Service job and plans to go to Washington, D. C, after graduation. John Edmond Cook The innocent are Qay. Dimples is the nickname Johnny rece ived from our well known dis- ciplinarian. Johnny was our football team manager. He has worked at the Fennia Market and plans to continue being a grocery clerk. Donald Ralph Coughlin Mischief dances in his eyes. Donald is one of our best ballroom dancers. After school he works in one of Fitchburg's woolen industries. After high school he plans to become a dye boss. Glee Club. Norman Howard Crawford Reas'ning at every step he treads. Bud is a freckle faced lad, friendly, and direct. He likes a good ar- gument in which he can take an active part. His interests center mainly about baseball and aviation. He would like to be a professional base- ball player but our own army air corps or the R.A.F. would suit him as well. Besides doing his part-time work for Miss Ranney and Mr. Hubbard, and the studying required for the senior commercial course, he also works for his father. Fishing and skiing are his pet sports. Fred is the hapoy-go-lucky type. He is interested in sports of all kinds. He is the former scribe of Troop 14, B.S.A. He doesn't seem to have any definite plans for the future. John likes to read about aviation, and to build models of different types of planes. This should help him greatly when he joins the Army Air Corps. He likes movies and photography. Lawrence Russell Tarbell He is often seen but seldom heard. An enterprising youth who believes that all study and little play would make Larry a dull boy, and Larry is far from dull. This is why she is well liked by friends and teachers. She is one of the few in the class whose hobby is sewing. She, like many, refuses to reveal her future inten- tions.
