BOULDER 1941 Elma Katherine Jaaski A modest answer and graceful air, Sh ow her wise and good as she is fair Elma is one of our more studious seniors, but her pleasing personality and cheerful disposition will make way for her in any gathering. Beautiful brown eyes and blond locks are Elma's crown- ing glory, but they do not interfere with a high scholastic rating as her record has shown. Her hobbies are playing the piano, sing- ing, and collecting musical compositions. We are sure that she will make a very efficient secretary. Basketball, Dramatic Club 2, 3; Class Banner Committee, Junior Prom Committee; Junior Senior Reception .3. Doris Maye Jensen She's full oj l fe and full of fun Doris is loads of fun and is always welcome wherever she goes. Her school spirit is shown by the fact that she is on hand at almost all school functions. At dramatic club meetings, Del often adds much to the program by her contributions. A promising future lies ahead for her since she would like to teech dramatics. Dramatic Club 2, 3, 4; Glee Club 4; German Club 4. Lillian Hope Jensen Breezy and jolly is he always Lillian may be described as a happy-go-lucky damsel. A hearty laugh for her is no diversity. If a motorcycle speeds by, look twice, because Lillian may be on it. She is another future Flor- ence Nightingale. Glee Club 4; Dramatic Club 2, 3, 4. Viola Gladys Johnson A quiet, gentle little elf. Who think i of others before herself When Viola smiles, her lovely teeth are immediately noticed, and they really are the envy of many. She is always willing to give a helping hand and therefore her chosen field of nursing is ideal for her pleasing personality, good nature, and patience. Her spare time is divided between writing letters and reading. Doris Mary Jones A ijuiel mind i rich, indeed Doris came all the way from Chicago to attend our school. She is fond of sports, especially tennis and archery. Designing clothes and composing music are her hobbies. Doris plans to con- tinue her studies in an art school. Archery 3, 4; Tennis 2, 3, 4; Glee Club 1, 4; Dramatic Club 3, 4. Nabia Mavie Joseph A smile lightens the road to happiness Nabia is quiet, but very athletic. Besides taking part in school sports, she skates, swims, and plays tennis. Her dark hair and eyes make her one of the attractive members. We know that her inten- tion is to become a nurse. Volleyball 2; Basketball 3; Scorer 2, 3. Helen Vieno Jundelin A pleasant girl of the quieter kind. In whom a depth of character you'll find Helen likes to busy herself both in and out of school. Al- though Helen seems to be quiet, she is full of jollity and fun, as her closer friends will tell you. When she gets excited, her eyes have a very briiliant sparkle and she smiles very sweetly. In the future, she plans to take a course in cooking. Basketball 2; Scorer 3. Patricia Collier Kenety Mind cannot follow it. now words express her infinite sweetness Although Pat came to us in the middle of the senior year, she will leave a lasting impression on those who came to know her. Besides her capacity for fun and a sportive disposition, she possesses that quality of sincerity that makes us wonder how we got along without her. Although we pretend to teach her our New England ways, we would be extremely disappointed if she lost any of her individual mannerisms. Page 29

BOULDER 1941 Earle Frederick Heughins Laughter and fun die my closest friends Earle is a good sport and a delightful companion. Modeling airplanes and woodworking are two of his favorite hobbies. He plays almost all sports outside of school. In years to come Earle hopes to be either a wood worker or a machinist. Raymond Albert Hill A more princely looking man never stepped through a prince' s hall Ray is a tall fellow who wears the dazzling uniform in the balcony at the Shea's. For exercise he canters along the bridle paths mounted on a junior edition of Sea Biscuit. He takes part in sev- eral activities and has dramatic ambitions. In the future he hopes to be a department store manager. Football 2, 3; Basketball 2, } ; Baseball 2, Councilor 3. Albert Richard Hobbs Today whatever annoy, the uorld for me is simply joy Albert is one of the industrious, but not studious, persons who works after school and Saturdays. He is a representative of West Fitchburg and is reputed to be one of its best boxers. As yet, his plans for the future are undecided. Robert Frederic Hodge Quiet! Let him dream on Bob has a weakness for a certain well-known railroad cap. He has a leaning toward athletic interests. Baseball is one of his favor- ite sports and he plays for the Arrows in the summer. Bob has also bten a great asset to our F. H. S. team, and is well liked by his fellow players. Basketball 2, 3, 4; Relay 3. Joseph Arthur Hunt None but the braie deserves the fair Joseph is a very tall fellow with an unusually well developed physique. He is very quiet and never bothers anyone, and his friends say he's a fine fellow. To join the Navy and become a chemist is his plan at the present. Edward Hutchins, Jr. Strong in hod), strong in mind, trong in the hearts of his kind Athletics hold a high place in Hutch's thoughts. He not only seems to like all sports, but to make an excellent showing in them all. He has a great many friends of both sexes, which proves that he not only is good natured, but has a nice personality as well. He has no immediate plans for the future. Football 2, 3, 4; Basketball 2, 3, 4 ; Track 2, 3, 4; Junior-Senior Relay 3; Councilor 2. Raymond Francis Jail let All persistent men achieve success Raymond is one of the boys who is going to protect his country by joining the Navy Air Corps. His dexterity in sports will surely help him in his Navy career. The fact that he likes to tinker with motors should also be a great help. Raymond's popularity is evi- denced by the fact that he is a student councilor. Councilor 4. John Allan Jakoia With a goodly share of laughter in his eye John participates in many sports such as basketball and base- ball, which he enjoys most. When he ran in the Junior-Senior Relay last year, he really made the mud fly. Although John seems to be quiet sometimes in school, he is really a very cheerful, gay, and friendly companion. BOULDER 1941 Tenho Edwin Jalko Make much of good men; for ihey are scarce Tenho is one of the friendliest senior boys. He has a very pleasant personality and is good-mannered. Basketball, football, and track are his favorite sports, and he is a member of the Reipas. After school he is employed in a jewelry store. At present, Tenho thinks he would like to join the Navy, but that is not definite. Edwin Jacob Jarvela is not birth nor rank nor state, But get up and get. that makes men great Outwardly, Jake seems to be the quiet type, but he really en- joys fun and has a gift for wit. His ability to get along with almost anyone has made him well-liked, as would be expected. He is interested in all sports outside of school, although most of his leisure time is spent ushering at the Fitchburg Theater. Dramatic Club 2, 3, 4; Baseball 3. Wallace Edward Johnson Men of few words are the best men Wally is a well known high school athlete who plays both basketball and football. He is so quiet that you will have to look twice to see him in the corridor, but once outside of the building he is a changed man. To be a member of the Navy is his plan at the present. Football, Basketball 2, 3, 4. Voitto Kauko Kaanta Of his stature, he ivas of great length, And wonderfully active and great of strength Voitto, one of our more reserved members, is better known to his friends as JefT. He has shone in basketball and track, proving that he is an excellent athlete. His artistic ability should help him in later life as he has produced work that has won the admiration of many. Basketball 2, 3, 4; Track 2, 3, 4. Walter John Kannell To say little and do much is the characteristic of great minds Walter plays basketball, baseball and many other sports and is proficient in all of them. He is a proud member of the Reipas and displays there all the ability he has. Walter intends to join the Army. Basketball 2, 3, 4; Councilor 3. Nicholas Katsaros He' s a man to make his tvay Nick is an all-round sportsman, with athletic interests at every season of the year. He is small in stature, but this does not prevent him from speaking up whenever he sees fit. If his plans develop, Nick will become a flyer in the United States Aviation Corps. Tennis 2, 3, 4; Basketball 2, 4; Debating Club 2, 3; Glee Club 2, 4 Dra- matic Club 2, 3, 4; Operetta 2. Harold John Kelley A faithful man and honorable Harold, whom most of us know as Bud, is considered one of the best ball room dancers in our class. He has a quick wit and a likeable attitude that has gained him many friends. Bud has taken most all athletics in his stride, but his favorite is basketball. He intends to take up drafting as his life's work. Basketball 2, 3; Baseball 2; Junior-Senior Reception 3; Councilor 3; Marshall 4. Philip Leonard Kent Cheerful company shortens the miles Phil is another unsung hero of the Class of 41. We cannot help noticing him because of his well groomed appearance and en- gaging manner. After school he works at the Sentinel office, but that doesn't make him neglect his studies. Last year Phil showed us what he could do in the way of sprinting. Relay Team 3. Page 30
