BOULDER 1941 Robert Newman Fickett What should a man do but be merry Bob keeps everyone happy around school with his great sense of humor. Two hobbies that he most enjoys are photography and wood working. His one desire is to become a mechanical engineer. Phiying in the band has won him the admiration and friendship of everyone. Band 2. 3, 4. Orchestra 2, , 4, Paul Alfred Fredette Quietly he speeds away to get. There i hh aim Paul is one of our lesser known classmates. He belongs to the crew that helps keep our institution presentable to outsiders. When he isn't down at the bowling alleys, or at school, you'll probably find him at home making a cabinet. Paul would like to continue his studies and work in architectural drawing. Einelio Joseph Gallon All actual heroes are essential men. And all men are possible heroes Emelio is a part-time student who works at the School Depart- ment. Collecting boxmg and baseball pictures is his hobby. Baseball, football, and golf are his favorite sports. Emelio plans to take up aeronautics after graduation. Baseball t. Maurice Ralph Gendron Happy with the little things Maurice is a quiet lad, but well worth knowing. He has a pleasant manner and is well liked by all. He is greatly interested in photography which he has made his hobby. Athletics interest Maurice as he participates in football and baseball as well as many other outdoor sports. Football 4. Charles Joseph Goguen He is dliiays in uih perject humor Here is Fitchburg High's number one drummer boy. Charley has become famous both in concert and dance-band drumming. By the way, he also does well with his studies, and doesn't let outside activities interfere with them. Band, Orchestra 2, } , 4; Boulder 4. Richard Clinton Gooding Good nature and good sense must ever join Dick has been a credit to our glee club since his coming to the school. 'When he is at home, he likes to read, but hunting and sailing also appeal to him. Dick is a signal man in th Naval Re- serve. He is interested in Naval Signaling, but is undecided bout a full time Navy position. Dramatic Club 2; Glee Club 2, 3, 4; Councilor 3; Thanksgiving Dance Committee 4. Richard Morris Goodridge He is just the quiet kind whose nature never varies Beneath Goody's quietness there lies the ambition to be a truck driver or bus driver. He is constantly on the watch for old money for he is a numismatist. In the spring and summer he can frequently be seen playing baseball at the Goodrich Strett Playground. He is a member of the high school s baseball team. Baseball 2, 3, 4. Dana Dudley Goodwin He was withal a man of elegance and stature tall Dana is very prominent in all musical activities. He served as the snappy drum major of our band and is a member of the orchestra. Afternoons he works at Goodwin's Shoe Store. To be a business administrator is his plan. BOULDER 1941 Ruth Madeline Flanagan She '( all my fancy paints her Ruthie is one of Marion Rice's most dashing Denishawn dancers. She even teaches ballroom dancing Saturday nights. To be a gov- erness or a schoolmarm is her ambition. Archery 4 ; Glee Club 3, 4. Celia Edna Forsberg A lovely girl to meet and know Basing her deportment on that of the proverbial mouse, Celia is one of the teachers' favored pupils. One of her fondest ambi- tions is to reach the glorious day when she can master the mechanics of an automobile and obtain her license. Tennis 2; Glee Club 4. Claire Mary Fournier Silence is the mother of truth Claire is a very quiet and good natured girl who works hard and seriously at her studies. Claire's great ambition is to become a laboratory technician. Her careful and serious outlook on things should go far in helping her to be successful. Dramatic Club 2, 3, 4; Hockey 4. Irene Josephine Fredette That which benefits us is cheerfulness Irene has sparkling brown eyes that you can't help notice. She has a happy laugh and finds pleasure in everything. In the winter most of her time is spent skating. Irene's favorite pastime is drawing. Lucy Der Garabedian She is full of life and full of fun Lucy's dark hair and eyes mark her out from the rest of the class. She is very athletic in her interests and enjoys swimming, tennis, hockey, and horseback riding. Her hobby is finger printing and her ambition is to be a typist or bookkeeper. Hockey 2, 3, 4; Aerial Darts 2; Basketball 2, 3, 4; Tennis 2, 3, 4; Dramatic Club 4. Mary Ellen Gelep High flights she had and wit as well, And so her tongue was never still To Mary, a carefree, talkative maiden, the motto Silence is golden means very little. Mary likes to chatter so much that she forgets to keep quiet even in class. Much of her time after school is spent in sports, such as basketball, volleyball, and hockey. She intends to make nursing her profession. Bella Ghenes She's a regular girl in every way Bella is a tall girl with very dark, expressive eyes, and curly brown hair. Every morning she can be seen walking down Ash- burnham Hill Road. Her favorite sports are skiing, skating, and sliding. She plans to be a nurse. Her pleasing personality should enable her to succeed. Rita Blanche Girard Earnestness is the soul of work Rita is a dark eyed senior who leans to the studious side. Her goal is secretarial work and she is gaining experience as a part- timer in the typewriting room. In her .school work, Rita has always been one of the brightest students. Thoughtful, with a magnetic personality, and a determination to make good — with these three attributes she should net speedy results! Page 23

BOULDER 1941 Constance Louise Goguen A comely Miss of no mean talent Connie has a finger in almost every well known activity in school. She participates in every girls' sport we have in school. She is also a member of the school band and a familiar figure in the Girl Scouts, for she is a senior scout and is the head of a Brownie pack. Hockey 2, 3, 4; Basketball 2, 3, 4; Volleyball 2, 3, 4; Badminton 2, 3, 4; Table Tennis 2, 3, 4; Archery 2, 3, 4; Dramatic Club 2, 3, 4; French Club 2, 3; Art Club 2; Band 2, 3,4. Dorothy Goldman She has eyes so soft and brown Dorothy came to us from Roxbury during her junior year. Although she did not know anyone when she first arrived, she has smce acquired many friends. She finds enjoyment in collecting autographs of famous people, and her ambition is to become a reporter. Tennis and ping pong are her two favorite sports. Dra- matic Club 4; Councilor 4. Elizabeth Anne Goss She smiled and shadows departed Betty will be best remembered for two things — her wavy, brown hair, and her sweet smile. She could, also, be depended upon to stand up for her rights. One couldn't help liking her, however, for she was friendly and sincere at all times. Basketball 2 ; Dramatic Club 2, 3, 4. Florence Joan Handley She is a winsome, wee thing Jo is a combination of pep, personality, laughter, and charm. Add to this mixture, mischievious eyes and piquant face, and the finished product is the cutest girl in the class. Her hobby seems to be beautiful clothes for they have always been the envy of us all. Jo's noticeable grace must be due to her great ability in Denishawn. Margaret Elizabeth Harley A lusiie fair, with golden hair Margy is a beautiful blonde who has a very becoming blush. We've always found her to have nothing but the best of disposi- tions though she can lose her temper for a good cause. Every- thing she attempts she tries to do as well as possible and since h;r best is excellent, well vouch for a bright future for her. Basketball 2, 3. 4; Volleyball 2, 3; Dramatic Club 2, 3, 4; French Club 2; Write-up Committee 4. Eileen Ann Hart Witty, jolly, happy as can be Eileen is an active participant in all our sports. As a basket- ball referee she gained a good reputation. She is one o{ the group in our class who enjoys collecting newspaper clippings and pic- tures of friends. Eileen is planning to study beauty culture. Ping- pong 3; Dramatic Club 2, 4; Debating Club 2. Bertha Viola Hawkesworth Love, sweetness, goodness in her person shined Bertha is a quiet, studious girl who comes to Fitchburg on the Westminster bus. She takes her work seriously and her play with enjoyment. No one could show better sportsmanship than Bertha does in all games. She is undecided whether she wants to become a secretary or do Red Cross work. Dramatic Club 2, 3, 4. Doris Louise Heins Quiet she may be, but friends she has innumerable Doris always looks as if she had just come from the hair- dresser's. Believe it or not, she fixes her locks herself. She works at Felix Heins Massage ' typewriting for her brother. Although Doris does not participate in any school sports, she is always ready to do her share of cheering at the games. Page 25
