BOULDER 40 Romeo Charles LeBlanc Actions speak louder than words. Any time you want to find Romeo, look for Joe Menard, for Romeo will be by his side. Besides being an expert dancer of the jitterbug type, and a member of the football squad, Romeo is also an expert marksman in the National Guards. Romeo cherishes the ambi- tion, that every boy used to have, of becoming a locomotive engineer. Football 2, 3, 4, Junior Relay 3, French Club 3, 4. William Joseph LeBlanc Learning makes a man a fit companion for himself. Hold your cards, the winner may be wrong. That is Bill's cue for a night's work, for he works at the Veterans of Foreign Wars' Bingo party. He's proved himself an all around good fellow and is popular with the boys and incidentally the fairer sex too. His ambition is to be a mail carrier, so he may be ringing your bell some day. Henry Bernard LeBouf Read and you will know. Henry has the courage of his convictions and doesn't hesitate to give his opinion about things that might affect him. Although he has his serious moments and smiles only to be polite, he does have 'V a rather private sense of humor and displays it when it is least ex- pected. The element of surprise is the backbone of his personality. Jouko Oscar Lonnqvist One accomplishes more by silence than by speech. Touko's constant good nature is always accompanied by a sly and knowing grin. This sandy-haired lad is nearly invincible at the game of Tit Tat Toe. Lately he has become a regular patron of one of Fitchburg's foremost studios of the dance. According to Jouko, Astaire had better watch his step. In spite of outward signs that he is not too serious. Jouko usually has his lessons done. Intramural Basketball 2, 3. „ Lorraine Lynne Leonard Her thoughts are never memories, But ever changing, ever new. Tony, as we know her, is the quiet and sophisticated type. She possesses a neat appearance in dress. She is a fine partner for danc- ing, as we have seen. Tony's plans for the future are quite inter- esting. She wishes to be a traveler and visit the mysterious and won- derful places of the world. If she tires of traveling, her next stop will be in the field of nursing. Dramatic Club 4. Priscilla Ann Lufkin Her dancing, graceful as a swallow's flight. Peter is quite an unusual girl, for she dances unusually well, has an unusual hobby, and an unusual ambition. Her pastime is to collect quotations on philosophy. Her novel ambition is to become a religious dancer. That is, she intends to dance in church, if per- mitted. She also has talent in art and dramatics. She is vice-president of the Dramatic Club. Dramatic Club 2, 3, 4, Art Club 3, Senior Class Play 4. Marylouise McNally 'Tis well to see her cheeks with blushes dressed. Marylouise is one of the more artistic members of our class. She is a member of the Art Department and the Art Club. Her hobbies are painting and drawing. Marylouise skates and plays tennis very well. Her ambition is to be a costume designer and illustrator. Hockey, French Club 2, Dramatic Club 2, 3, 4, Class Dues 3, Red and Gray 3, 4, Art Club 3. Anna Macchio No one but she and Heaven know of what she is thinking. Anna is one of those quiet, unassuming girls who seldom think about themselves but often about others. She has a three-fold hobby for she not only collects all kinds of interesting books but souvenirs and postcards as well. Her participation in school sports has been limited mostly to hockey but her interest in sports as a spectator is probably limitless. Anna is very efficient and plans to go into busi- ness as a life's work. Hockey 2, 3. Page 31

BOULDER 1940 Raymond Henry Lamothe He who is silent gains a store. Ray has the build of a true athlete. Besides that he has the cleverness without which no one can become great. These two quali- ties made him Fitchburg High School's star baseball pitcher and home run hitter. Ray. however, intends after graduation to use as an elec- trician the skill which he has acquired by his work with electrical devices. Football 2, 3. Oskar Edward Lamsa The learned man has always riches in himself. Oskar belongs to the great army of stamp collectors. Perhaps his hobby was inspired by his work, for he is employed in the mail- ing office of the Raivaaja Press. He apparently feels, however, that his abilities lie in a direction other than that of publishing, for it is his ambition to be an engineer. Salvatore Lauricella The world is for him uho has patience. Sam is adventurous and athletic. He is greatly interested in sports and played regularly on the football team. Sam plans to take up boxing wrestling, and swimming. Besides these sports he spends the quiet part of his life drawing pictures and cartoons. Sam also likes traveling. Football 2, 3, 4. Romolo Lautizi Prudence is the parent of success. Romolo is a member of our orchestra. He enjoys playing his violin and is a very good player. Besides music, Romolo likes sports and traveling. Romolo is a quiet person but a good friend to have. He has not as yet decided on his future. work. Orchestra 3. Evangeline Emma LeBlanc In friendship. I early teas taught to believe. Evangeline is numbered among our happiest members. She is y always ready for fun — the more adventurous the better. She loves CJ to collect snapshots and novelty monkeys. She has already started on a business career for she works as a clerk at Grant's. Hockey 2, French Club 2, 3, 4, Dramatic Club 3, 4, Basketball, Volleyball 4. Rita Mary LeBlanc Always happy. Although quiet and very serious in school, we hear from Rita's friends that as soon as two o'oclock arrives she turns into a gay, talkative, young lady. Her favorite hobbies are skating and swimming. Rita is very conscientious about her studies, and because of this has attained excellent grades throughout her school years. Gerene Mary Leger A faithful friend. Gerene, who comes from Cleghorn, is a petite demoiselle belong- ing to the commercial group. She is short and tiny, has dark wavy hair, and laughing eyes. She takes her lessons seriously but is always ready for fun. Although she has not participated very much in athletic events, she supports Fitchburg High faithfully. Her plans for the future are undecided. Her favorite pastime is reading fiction. Hockey 2, 3, French 3, 4. Winifred Marie Leger Her laugh is such a contagious thing. Winnie, one of our dark-haired girls, has a ready smile for every one. She was a model in our style show which proves her sewing ability. She has shown a lively class spirit in any of its undertakings. Her one ambition is to become a bookkeeper and typist in some store. Page 30

BOULDER 1940 Leo Joseph Lord He that knows himself knows others. Leo is another one of those few fortunate ones who go to school every other week, for he is a part-time student, and works at the School Board office for Superintendent Francis. Leo has taken three years of bookkeeping and, after graduation, will try to secure a position as a bookkeeper. His hobby is stamp collecting. Norman Belding Lyons An honest man is the noblest work of God. How a hobby may develop into a life's work is shown in the case of Norman. Beginning the study of radio merely from a stand- point of pleasure, he has become something of an expert in this line, which he now intends to make his vocation. Norman's interests are not confined, however, to purely technical subjects, for he is an active member of the Scouts. Radio Club 2, 3, 4. Charles Henry McCarthy He that labors and thrives spins gold. Charlie is a rather small person but you can always distinguish his fire-red hair anywhere. He had charge of the publicity for the Thanksgiving Dance. The only activity that Charlie indulges in is stamp-collecting. He is a part-timer and works at the office of the Superintendent of Schools. Thanksgiving Dance 4. John Patrick McDermott, III Strong reasons make strong actions. A quiet senior, John is usually found minding his own business, and yet at the same time being very obliging to all. During the afternoons he works as a clerk in Brockelman's market. John hopes to become a first class machinist. Rita Mary Anna Maillet There is no knowledge that is not power. Rita is a brunette from West Fitchburg. Her smile has often brightened the day and her pleasing personality has won her a host of friends. Rita's favorite subject is bookkeeping and she intends to enter the business world as a bookkeeper. Basketball 4. Aili Adele Maki Ever happy, earnest, bright, A student following paths of right. Aili is good-natured and easy-to-get-along with. Her cheerful disposition is a great asset and has won her some very good friends. Oftentimes, her unexpected sarcasm astonishes everybody. Aili draws very well, is interested in sports, likes to sew. A great future in nursing lies in store for Aili. Basketball 2, 3, 4, Reader's Guild 3, Dramatic Club 3, 4. Irene Elizabeth Maki Her lively looks a sprightly mind disclose. Honey is a live wire whom you can't help but notice when she passes. She is active in sports and excels in basketball. You will always see her trotting around with her pal Stevie. She is well known for her singing. Irene is a good talker and possibly that is why she was elected president of the Girls' Debating Club. Basketball, Dra- matic Club 2, 3, 4, Volleyball 3, Debating Club, Pep Club 4. Barbara Inez Mansfield For that eye is so modestly beaming. You never think of the mischief she's dreaming. Barbara is small, lively, and pretty. Her keen blue eyes and warm smile are among her external charms, but what shall we say of her many other qualities?
