BOULDE-R. bee i m- Peter Giammalvo The greatest learning, is to be seen in the greatest plainness. Pete should be well known, to all who like to bowl, as he can usually be found at the other end of a bowling alley, working as pin boy. Although he is mostly associated with an indoor sport, his real joy is hunting and fishing. Because of this Pete hopes to become a Forest Ranger or a Guide. Track, Relay 3, 4. 1940 David Crawford Glen Skill and confidence are an unconquered army. Glenny is one of our cheeriest seniors. His infectious grin is a common sight, while passing through the corridors. Glenny is worth a bit of his weight in gold for, in the sophistication of his junior year, he swallowed a few goldfish. He tells us that he would like to excel as a teacher and he plans to attend the Fitchburg State Teachers' College. Radio Club 2. Henry John Godek Use pastime so as not to lose time. Piffy. as his ruddy cheeks show, is a happy person who likes the out-of-doors. He has changed from a sober youth to a frivolous person who is now the life of the party. Piff has won many friends by his amiable personality and good nature. He hasn't taken life seriously, as yet, but we have much faith in his future. Assistant Manager of Football 3, Manager of Football, Dramatic Club 4. Robert Powers Gooding Opportunity is the cream of time. Bob is rather a quiet fellow. Bob's outside activity is a very interesting one and of real value for he spends his leisure hours running an amateur radio station. He belongs to a radio organiza- tions For the future Bob wishes to be either a radio operator or a molrier. Anna Rachel Guglielmi Cheerfulness and good-will make labor light. Anna is a part-timer in the school office. She makes a good office girl because she has the carriage of a queen and a very pleasant smile. Outside of school Anna plays a violin in a dance orchestra. After graduation she intends to form an all-girl dance band. Basketball, Volleyball 2, 3, Orchestra 2, 3, 4, Debating Club, Dramatic Club 3, 4, Open Debate 4. Betty Evelyn Hancock Wearing her wisdom lightly. Betty is a delightful young lady with the dignity proper to a senior. She has a very interesting hobby, designing clothes. She wants, however, to go to a hairdressing school. She has a pleasing smile and many friends. Dramatic Club 2, 3, 4. Henna Rose Harju The silent countenance often speaks. One does not often see a girl as typical of her nationality as Henna is, with her blond hair and clear complexion. All her char- acteristics are proof of her Finnish descent. Her marks indicate that free-hand drawing is her most outstanding subject, and it is no wonder for drawing is her hobby. After graduation Henna plans to take up secretarial work. Priscilla Irene Hauler W hat sweet delight a quiet life affords. Priscilla's quiet manner is apt to make people think that she is very serious. She is nice to know and has won friends by her cheery smile. Priscilla is much interested in sewing and someday she may be a dressmaker. Page 23

BOULDER 1940 3 Gerald Rodolphe Forest A kind heart is a fountain of gladness. Gerald is an amateur photographer and a collector of old coins. J-fe is a basketball player, too. He belonged to the Debating Club Tor three years. No wonder he talks so well ! This is really excellent training for him, too, for he plans to study law. He seems to be Jquiet but he really is very nice. Intramural Basketball 2, 3, Debating jClub, French Club 2, 3, 4, Councillor, Dramatic Club. Prize Speak- jing 4. Vernon Richard Foss He is truly happy uho makes others happy. To be an artist is Vernon's ambition. His artistic work at pre- sent consists of etching in silver and copper, but later on he may branch out into other fields of art. However, don't exclude him from music, for his training in the high school band and in a church choir have brought out his varied musical abilities. Band 2, 3, 4, Orchestra 4. Arthur Louis Gagnon, Jr. The eye is the pulse of the soul. Arthur is one of the quietest boys in our class although he has a grand sense of humor. He is very adept at writing poetry. We imagine he would be a better poet than an accountant, which is his one ambition, because of the excellence of his recently written poetry. Ask Arthur to tell you about the poem he wrote entitled, Eyes. Debating Club 2, 3, 4. George Frederick Gay Learning is the eye of the mind. Jake is another one of those seniors, who, although unassuming, manage to do a great deal. He is quite an expert in making model airplanes. He is a member of the Whalom Roller Skating Club. In the summer he works at Marshall's Farm among the apple trees and has had many exciting times there. Following graduation he wishes to become an airplane mechanic. V Dorothy Ann Grainger Live to love and laugh. Dot has the type of eyes that seems to entrance you, and they have already cast a spell over one member of our class. Athletics interest her and she has been an enthusisatic participant in many sports. Dot has made plans to take a course in hairdressing after she leaves high school. Basketball 2. Dramatic Club, Volleyball 3, 4. Frances Louise Gray Corridors were made to walk in, Not for little girls to talk in. Frances is a very quiet young lady who possesses a grand per- sonality. She has a unique hobby, collecting phone numbers. Maybe Frances could help some of the boys by supplying them with num- bers. We hear ballroom dancing is also one of Frances' pastimes. Glee Club, French Club, 2, Hockey 3, Dramatic Club 4. Claire Janet Grenier Be merry if you are wise. Claire is always cheerful and prepared to fall in line and co- operate. She is one of our redheaded seniors and can always be found in the company of Blanche Begnoche. Claire is one of our high honor pupils and has showed her commercial ability by being chosen to work as a part-timer for Mr. Howard at the school bank. Basketball, Volleyball 2, 3, Hockey 3. Blanche Virginia Griffin Little said is soonest mended. Blanche is interested in many things. For sports, she prefers basketball and volleyball. She has a sweet voice and belongs to the Glee Club. Her hobby, collecting spoons, seems interesting. She is also interested in nursing. Blanche is very pleasant, and has the fun- niest little giggle that you can imagine. BOULDER 1940 Leon Earl Grow Cheerfulness is the principal ingredient in the composition of health. Leon is a fellow who is always fooling with his teachers. Al- though he is always joking, he seems to find time to study and make the honor rolls. Leon is planning to enter some technical school to study either mechanical or chemical engineering. Although he is not an active athlete, he is greatly interested in sports. Relay Team 3. Leo Patrick Hachey Fortunate is he whom the dangers of others render cautious. This is Leo. He's the tall, dark type that is always welcome and always a good sport. Speaking of sports, he is known here- abouts as a baseball player of no mean ability. He was also a main- stay on the Relay Team. Maybe he gets in condition from his jaunt, via Cleghorn, to school every morning. Raymond Fredrick Hakkila The countenance is the index of the mind. Ray, that tall, blond fellow from Westminster, is considered bashful. This isn't so, judging from his progress in Gardner; how- ever, at the present time he's concentrating his charms on a brown- eyed girl who lives near him. He hopes to be an aviator later in ife which probably accounts for the fact that his mind is in the clouds most of the time. Dramatic Club 2. Jefferson Alonso Hall A thinking man is always striking out something new. Jeff is a member of the Dramatic Club and aids its activities by serving on the stage crew. He is the member-at-large of the Hi-Y , Club and president of the Rollstone Young Men's Class. His hobby Is molding and modeling. His many projects in these lines should prove helpful in attaining his goal as an architectual engineer. Class Motto Committee 3, Dramatic Club 4. Margaret May Haven There's mischief in this maid. Margaret is one of the pleasantest and most charming members of the senior class. She has plenty of pep and likes all sorts of sports, swimming, hiking, skating, and dancing, if that may be classified as a sport. She's very clever in knitting and sewing. Miggles, also, takes elocution lessons from Miss Quinlan. No wonder she has such a lovely voice! Dramatic 2, 3, 4, Class Colors 3, Write-up Committee 4, German Club 4. Barbara Myles Hayton A modest miss is she. Barbara came from Warren, Mass., but now lives in West- minster. Though she is rather new to Fitchburg we all like her a lot. Her quiet manner and good looks have won her many new friends. She has as a hobby, collecting match folders and coins. Latin Club 4. Mary Patricia Healy 'Tis good will makes intelligence. Mary likes to play basketball, as well as to referee. In fact, she plans to be a future gymnasium teacher. During the summer months she is a Red Cross instructor and a senior life-saver. Mary certainly has an interesting hobby, for she likes to distinguish a person's voice over the telephone. Call her sometime! Basketball 2, 3, 4, Tennis, Councillor 3, Dramatic Club 3, 4. Bernice Gladys Hilf Wisdom is better than rubies. Bernice is an efficient commercial student. Someday she will make a very capable accountant, for such is her desire. At present, she is working at State Teachers' College doing secretarial work. This has no harmful effect on her studies, for she still is a special honor student.
