BOULDER 1940 Robert Sherman Eccleston Smiles are of love the food. Robert or Eccie, as he is commonly known, is one of those lucky persons who are never without a witty remark. A good me- chanic, he can construct anything from model airplane to boats. His latest endeavor is an automobile. He also helps to support our local dance halls not only as a dancer but as a hot trumpet in an orchestra Eccie also is a Golden Eagle Scout. Band, Orchestra 2, 3, 4. Robert William Elkas Levity of behavior is the bane of all that is good and virtuous. A busy boy, Bob has taken the college course with the inten- tion of entering a College of Pharmacy. If he works as hard at phar- macy as he does at his studies and ou'side activities, there is no reason why he should not be successful. Bob is a he-man too. He helped beat the class of '39 in the relay. Red and Gray Board, Orchestra 2, 3, 4, Junior-Senior Relay, Latin Club 3, French Club, Round Table 4. Frank Robert Erickson The great end of life is not knowledge but action. Iggie as he is better known, is one of the O. Henry boys. He is a valuable pitcher on our baseball team and probably will be a major leaguer. The students who know him well realize what a joy it is to be in his presence and hear his pungent puns. Iggie is the sort of person who plays when he plays, works when he works, and thinks all the time. Baseball 3. Philip Albanie Flanagan fth v Humor is often mingled with sensibility. Phil is one of the school's best jokers, filled to the brim with merriment, laughter, and witty remarks. His shaggy locks reveal his fun-loving, carefree nature which everyone appreciates. Our class is proud of the gridiron spirit that Phil displayed. Football 2, 3, Dramatic 3, 4, Junior Prom 3. Catherine Femino Trifles make perfection, and perfection is no trifle. Ca hcrine is one of the smaller members of our class. She has a smile for everyone due perhaps to the fine set of teeth which she possesses. She does not excel in sports, but enjoys watching ih m. Her aim after graduation is to do stenographic work. Charlotte Thomasine Flynn Her smiling lips betray a heart of gold. Charlie is one of the best liked girls in our class. Her radiant grin, her cheerful greeting, and her readiness to help, to defend, or to fight for her friends have been her chief characteristics. She was our cheerleader in our sophomore year. Charlie may be seen, afternoons, cruising around in her mother's Plymouth. Charlie's enthusiasm has greatly influenced many school activities. BOULDER 1940 Henry Anthony DiTcmmaso Character is the governing, element of life and is above genius. Hank is tall and humorous. He was a member of the football team, and his number fourteen became the pride of the squad. Al- ways full of fun, he is a good friend to have. Hank plans to enter Noriheastern University after he graduates. Football 2, 3, 4. John Kenneth Dupress The pen is the tongue of the mind. John has built himself quite a reputation by winning several prize essays. He has a marvelous faculty for remembering facts and a cunning logic which he exercises in argumentation, as members of Mr. Dillon's history class have found out. He is interested in science, and has read a good deal about radio, electricity, and the photo-electric cell. Red and Gray 3, 4, Round Table 4. Roderic Alfred Durling Cheerfulness is the sign of wisdom. Rod is one of those persons who make themselves felt rather than heard. He sings second tenor in the Glee Club. Although we realize he is no Nelson Eddy he has an interest in music and a talented voice. His hobbies are many but among them he numbers hunting, fishing, and aviation as foremost. Glee Club 3, 4. Durward Wells Eastman Jesters do often prove prophets. A mighty hunter he! Durward, according to all reports, is a regular Nimrod, who during the hunting season can be seen al- most any day roaming the forests in pursuit of his favorite sport. The stories which he relates of his prowess as a huntsman help relieve the monotony of the school day, for the least of them is suffi- cient to liven the dullest moment. Baseball, Basketball 2, Tennis 2, 3, Dramatic Club 2, 4, Orchestra 2, 3, 4, Science Club 3, Band 3, 4, French Club 4. Jean Marie Crossland My tongue within my lips I rein, For one who talks much must talk in vain. Jean is one of those girls you often see but seldom hear. Al- though she is quiet, she takes part in various outside activities. Jean has a friendly nature and spends much of h?r time taking care of those who are much younger than herself. She is also an active mem- ber of the Christian Endeavor Society. Her hobby is making collec- tions of miniature articles. Business school will probably beckon Jean after graduation. Irene Flora DeLisle Mine is a lofty ambition as wide as the world I covet. Irene is a small, dark-haired girl who pores over her books and studies very hard. Irene has already made her entry at St. Vincent's Hospital, Worcester and is determined to become an expert nurse. She is also interested in collecting old coins. Basketball 2. Josephine Ethel Dellagono A smile that glows with friendship. Joe is neither rowdy nor dull. Her presence brightens the social gatherings of her own crowd. Jo's passions are dancing and the movies. Her ambition is to work in an office. When Parke Snow needs a spare girl, Jo serves as a pleasant sales clerk. Jo belongs to St. Anthony's Dramatic Club. E)ramatic Club 3. Anna Der-Minasian These are the days of our youth, our days of glory and honor. Anna is the dark curly-haired girl you see flitting around the corridors. All the girls envy her lovely naturally curly hair. Anna is also another one of the many girls in our class whose ambition is to design clothes. This is not surprising because Anna's hobby is sewing. BOULDE R 1940 Donald Woodruff Fletcher Knowledge is the treasure of a wise man. Don is the young man you see going down the corridors wear- ing bright plaid hunting shirts. This seems proper because Don is quite a hunter and is good enough to be a member of the Fitchburg Rod and Gun Club. He seems to want to follow in his Dad's footsteps, because his one ambition is to be a contractor. Coun- cillor 2, Class Colors 3. Edward Gerard Flood An investment in knowledge always pays the best interest. Edward's posture is unequaled in F.H.S. If this has anything to do with character it shows that he is confident and can look the world in the face. When he isn't doing his regular home work he studies chemistry which he hopes to take up as his life work. Councillor 3. Alfred Paul Forest is better to be always prepared than to suffer once. Al has an unusual and interesting hobby, that of bird-raising and has had many interesting experiences with birds and their habits. He is a Junior Assistant Scoutmaster and is quite proficient in the art of scouting. David Louis Forest Silence brings friendship. Dave enjoys the distinction of being the possessor of a wave which, according to all appearances, is actually permanent. Nat- urally he is envied by all the girls, and not a few of the boys. Dave has a hobby, that of making flying model airplanes in his spare time. He is a member of the track team, and belongs to the ultra- exclusive Hi-Hatters. Track 3. Dorothy Cogswell Gage have a heart with room for every joy. Dorothy is Westminster's contribution to the singing world. She display her talent in the Girls' Glee Club and in many organ- izations in Westminster. Go to church some Sunday morning up in the wilderness and hear for yourself. Elpeneke Gamvas Art is the music of the soul. El pie is one of Miss Nason's art enthusiasts. She is the possessor of a pleasing personality and a vivacity, which have won her many friendships. She plans to become an art teacher. Judging by her past record Elpie is well on the road to success. Theresa Frances Gerante Sow a thought and reap an act. Terry is a dark-haired girl with a very sweet voice. She enter- tains many friends with her singing. Terry also owns hands capable of designing and sewing. Her future plans are to open a dress shop and become a designer and dressmaker. Sophie Margaret Giunta My own thoughts are my companions. Sophie may be small in stature, but she has personality. She is an earnest worker, dependable, and capable. After school hours, Sophie is kept busy working at Giadone's Gasoline Station as a bookkeeper. Her chief interests are outside of school hours ; there- fore, she doesn't participate in many school functions. After gradua- tion Sop hie plans to continue bookkeeping. Page 21
