He developed his physical prowess working on his father's farm. Football 3, 4. Arthur Pierre Goguen The harder the task, the greater the achievement . Pierre, as he wants to be called, has the interesting hobbies of airplane modeling and furniture making. He belongs to the Wachu- sett Model Airplane Club at the Y. M. C. A. His favorite sports are skating and skiing. After graduation he intends to take up patternmaking or some other line of woodworking. John Leonard Greem Friendship is an exchange of good offices. This happy-go-lucky youth comes to us from woolly West Fitchburg. Johnnie spends about four nights a week at the Strand Theatre. The other nights he's studying how to become a Sherlock Holmes so that he'll be able to solve the mystery that's bothering him — why school books were created! Johannes Rudolf Gronroos Experience is a jewel. This boy is known to all his schoolmates as Joe. During school hours Joe scurries around trying to catch up with yesterday's homework. Outside of school hours Joe works in Pera's filling station on River Street. Joe can usually be found loitering around on the second floor. Cynthia Constance Ferris At peace I lie. Cynthia is a quiet girl but a very efficient business woman as she had to be to do the typing for this Boulder. She proved a very- capable secretary this year for Mr. Hubbard. She has a slow break- ing but very infectious smile. Nancy Fickett Her very foot has music in it as she comes up the stair. Nancy is an active participant in all of our musical activities. She has a lovely alto voice, and the Glee Club alto section would be lost without her help in difficult songs. Of course she may be seen at all of the meetings of the band and orchestra, not to forget that talented German band. Nancy is very conscientious about all of her work. Dramatic Club 2, 3, 4, Glee Club 2, 4, Chairman Class Motto Committee 3, Band, Orchestra 2, 3, 4, Operetta 4. Dorothy Minerva Fisher The most manifest sigyi cf wisdom is cheerfulness. Bernard Arthur Fossa I can master awkward things. This witty gum-chewing young man, with his mop of uncombed hirsute adornment, is a great favorite with the ferns, or so he thinks. We understand that Bernie is cultivating his voice for the job of train announcer when he grows up. Basketball, Tennis 2, 3, 4, Track Team 3, 4, Science Club, Baseball, Relay Team 3, Dramatic Club 4, Designer Class Banner 3. Eugene Charles Fournier A proper man as one shall see in a summer's day. Gene is one of the most unobstrusive boys in our class. His chief interests can be found in the great out-of-doors. If you are looking for Gene anytime during the hunting season, you will probably discover him in the woods. Franklin Bela Gage Silence has many virtues. Frankie is a quiet bashful boy. He hardly ever speaks to the boys, and actually shies away from the girls. He works at the family gas station after school and is also the family chauffeur. Albert Edgar Gendron In the lexicon of youth, there is no such word as fail. Bert has been the most dynamic cheer leader a class could have, and we're all proud of him. This good-looking, dark haired lad, possessing a winning smile has not gone unnoticed by the girls, for he dances well. He displays in all his school activities a cheerful personality. Football 2, Basketball, Cheer Leader 2, 3, 4, Baseball, History Club, Councillor 3, Dramatic Club, Marshal, Tennis 4. Betty Jane Erler Thou art smill, but thou shall grow. Betty is a diminutive girl with lovely blue eyes which sparkle when she smiles. We hear very little from Betty in school because she is one of the quietest girls in our class. Betty's time after school is spent taking care of her younger sister. Elizabeth Jeanne Farrell 'Tis wise to learn. Betty is one of our talented students who show considerable ability in leading the Girl Scouts through their holiday drills. Betty is also a charter member of the Night Hawks. We don't know where she secured her Alpine hat, but it's awfully cute. Basket- ball 2, 3,4, Hockey 2, 4. Roxena Helen Fellows She is a wee little thing. Roxy is a little girl with a catching giggle. Once Shorty starts to laugh, no one about her can keep a straight face. She works in the office of the Red Cross, and she likes all kinds of social service work. She's a hard worker and likes to take an active part in everything. Basketball, Volleyball 2, 3, Dramatic Club 4. Mildred Alice Feltman She burns with the fire of good nature. Mim, as she is called by her friends, is a rather quiet little girl except for her shrill laugh. She likes all sports; skating and sliding are her specialties. When she is not doing this, she can be seen riding around in a green Pontiac. Page 23

3 George Joseph Guilmette He thinks before he speaks. George is one of those quiet chaps who make up for it outside of school hours. He is a lover of sports, and when asked what sports he is interested in, he begins with boxing and ends with ping- pong. He is noted for his exceedingly dark eyebrows, which add to his appearance of strength. French Club 3, Latin Club 4. Turo Lauri Hallfors The glory of a firm capacious mind. Turo is that tall, handsome blond you see walking around Fitchburg High School. He skis marvelously well. Turo is also an accomplished actor, as you all know after seeing him in the Open Meeting. History Club 3, Dramatic Club 3, 4, Open Meet- ing 4. Alfred William Harrison He is a little chimney and heated hot in a moment. Al is classified as being cute because of his curly hair, blue eyes, and freckles. Who knows, maybe he'll become a great man some day, not only for his looks, but also for his dancing ability. If you want some points on the Big Apple or the Shag, call Har- rison, 1114-M. Ray Francis Haskell He that is friend to himself, is friend to all. Ray is the athletic type. Basketball and track draw him in their respective seasons. He enjoys fishing, and his quiet manner should be conducive to good catches. His spare time finds him behind the counter in the A. and P. Ray has a way of handling fussy old ladies. Dorothy Eileen Foley A prodigy of learning. Dorothy can be seen any school day walking through the corridors before 8:10 with an armful of important looking books. She has a preoccupied look, and the phrase excuse me is constantly on her lips. This senior is a wizard at typewriting. Councillor 3, Dramatic Club 4. Gladys Eloise Forest Maiden with the meek brown eyes. Gladys' school interests seem to lean towards the athletic. She has been active in basketball, field hockey, and volleyball, and has been equally skillful in all of them. Her pleasing personality has made her well liked by all the pupils. Glee Club 2, Hockey, Basketball 2, 3, 4, Volleyball 3, 4, Junior-Senior Reception Com- mittee, Class Banner Committee 3, Dramatic Club 4. Virginia Ruth Foss Knowledge comes but wisdom lingers. Glee Club 2, History Club 3, Basketball, Volleyball 4, Dramatic Club 4. Elsie Audrey Gaetz The world smiles with her. Elsie is one student who thinks that school isn't so important, although we must say that she does her best to keep up with her school studies. She is an outdoor girl and considers swimming as one of her most important activities. She may be a quiet student, but outside she is peppy and loves adventure. Basketball 4. Pag e 25
