Donald Leonard Lassell The simplest record of thyself has worth. As treasurer for two years, Don certainly proved a very trust- worthy and capable boy the way he handled the economic affairs of our class. Don played trumpet for the school orchestra, band, and swing band. He was one of the student maestros of the band. He also played for outside musical organizations. But Don didn't let these activities keep him from studying, which is shown by the high marks he earned. Don's friendly and easy going nature makes him very well liked everywhere he goes. Glee Club, Councillor 2, Band Secretary and Treasurer 2, Orchestra 2, 3, 4, Junior-Senior Relay 3, Marshal 4. Norman Robert Adler He is witty, he is wise He's a terror for his size. Peddling newspapers gives Sonny the exercise of which riding deprives him. He's one of the smallest men of our class, but small men have been known to do great things. Aimo Allan Ahola Slow and sure was his manner. Once Aimo was among the smallest members of our class, but the last year has seen a great change as he is now among the tallest. Aimo is industrious, and the saying, He who works will be re- warded, holds true for Aimo, since he is among the high ranking students. Track Team 3, 4, Baseball 4. Anthony Joseph Alario Where he is melancholy cannct stay. Tony has a weakness for noisy shoes. Upon looking to see who is making the noise, we see Tony's ample figure and his red, round, smiling face before us. Tony intends to own a chain of grocery stores. You should succeed, Tony, if you don't eat all the profits first. David Warner Aldrich None but himself can be his parallel. Dave is a mischievous little fellow, often mistaken for a sopho- more because of his height. He likes to drive a car and is often seen driving a Waites-Corner grocery truck. Page 11 Donald Clifford Alexander Those who think nobly, are noble. Wherever he goes he is always in a rush, with his unusually long stride. We can account for this, for he is a busy boy in school and out. In his spare moments when he has his German done, we find him conversing with Miss Peabody. Basketball 2, 3, 4, Volleyball 3, Glee Club 3, 4, Hockey, Dramatic Club 4. Alice Plummer Ingram Her sunny temper gilds the edge of life's black cloud. Alice, or Inky as she is called by her friends, might well be called the girl from the golden west. When she came east, it was the west's loss and our gain. She's greatly interested in toe dancing, and all of her spare moments are spent either in practicing this art, or looking through illustrated books on ballet dancing. Glee Club 2, Dramatic Club 2, 3, 4, French Club, Latin Club 4. Laila Katherine Jakola Truth is within ourselves. Two big softly smiling brown eyes are listed among Laila's greatest assets. In our opinion she has many Hollywood greats beaten in this respect. Not over-active in extra-curricular acti- ties, her pastime each afternoon is working in her neighborhood store. Her gracious manner will undoubtedly continue to send away many pleased customers. Hockey, Debating Club, Dramatic Club 2. Vieno Ellen Jarvi Character is a perfectly educated will. Vieno is known in her circle for her good humor and is never offended at trifles. She goes hiking whenever possible. Strangely enough she spends most of her leisure time writing shorthand. He likes sports and enters into skiing with a great deal of zest. Eugene Walfred Lehtonen Frame your mind to mirth and merriment. Elky is a jitterbug who can be found dancing at almost any time and place. A substitute on the football team, he proved capable each time opportunity knocked. He keeps his classes lively for he has a virtual gift of gab. He will answer the call of the woods for he is to be a carpenter. Baseball 3, Football, Intramural Basket- ball 3, 4. Helen May Jeffery She was as busy as the proverbial bee. Helen is another of our so-called quiet students. Besides amusing the class and himself, Mando is really a grand boy. Vv. Raymond Iver Magnusson Practice is everything. Ray, in his senior year has been a busy person. His part time job and his constancy to a member of the junior class account for this. Ray's spare moments are spent pursuing his hobby, photography. If you've ever wondered where those classroom noises emanate, ask Ray. Relay Team, Co-Chairman Photography Club 3, Thanks- giving Dance 4. After gradua- tion she hopes to attend a business college. Glee Club 2, 3, Dramatic Club 2, 4, Councillor 3. Olga Lanides Be silent and safe, Silence never betrays you. Olga is a very shy and reserved person. She is skeptical and carefully considers what she will say before saying it. Unlike most high school sub-debs, she does not crave excitement in social activi- ties. Perhaps her only diversion is going to movies and promenading. She prefers to stay in Fitchburg than venture abroad. Olga finds great pleasure in taking care of small children. Basketball 2, Volley- ball, Dramatic Club 3, 4. We must also give him credit for his work on the dance floor. Edwin Matthew Mukku From him all sorrow flies afar. Ed is an all around outdoor fellow. He is a wonderful swimmer, skier, and skater. He likes to fish both in the summer and in the winter. He is one of few fellows who can truthfully say that he likes to chop and saw wood. Lawrence Almond Murchie Good will is the mightiest practical force in the universe. Larry is a tall and rather bashful boy. He played on the football team and was one of the officers of the Hi-Y. He is one of the Three, call them what you will, along with Bob and Guy. Relay Team 3, Football 4. Lillian Louise Larson I have a heart with room for every joy. Lillian is one who frequents the movies at least two or three times a week. Lillian likes dancing, skating, swimming, and all sports. The only hobby that this senior has is sleeping late on every morning that there is no school. This smiling blond is noted for her pleasing personality. Rita Florence Laventure Variety is the spice of life. Rita is more or less the home type. Knitting, sewing, and cooking are in her line, although she says bookkeeping is her ob- jective. Ambitious is the word for Rita. Her likes include hiking, tennis, and of course, dancing. French Club 3, 4. Janet Christine LaVigne Laughing, dancing eyes of brown. Janet is a very sociable young lady who came to us this year from Classical High, Worcester. Her hobby is playing the piano, and her favorite sports are hockey, skating, and swimming. Janet expects to attend college after graduation and become a dietician. Hockey 4. Dorothy Rita Leblanc Cheerfulness smooths the road of life. If you want to see any student who enjoys school work more than any person you know of, just look up Dorothy. She's a wizard at shorthand and likes both typewriting and bookkeeping. She has hopes of being a secretary after she graduates. Her favorite sport is skating. Wherever there is ice or roller skating, you are sure to find Dorothy. Dramatic Club 2. Page 37 J Joseph Michael Murphy A man of hope and forward-looking mind. Joe is the tall, dark complexioned, air-minded, studious young chap with a German clip you have seen floating about the school. Although he is a clever inventor and manufacturer of diving helmets, with a high standing in aquatic sports, his chief interests and ambi- tions are in the field of aeronautics. Who knows, maybe we have another Corrigan in our midst. Better study your compass, Joe. Waino Walter Myllykangas Wise to resolve and patient to reform. You must have seen Waino leading the Monday morning as- sembly parade from Room 211. Sitting in a back seat is really an advantage to Waino as he is always the first one out of the room. To all outside appearances Waino is a very studious boy. Track Team 4. Eino Edward Niinimaki A smile and a helping hand Lighten a heavy burden. If you should attend a motorcycle race, you would find Eino hovering around, for his favorite pastime is motorcycling, and his greatest ambition is to be a professional cyclist. Eino is also in- terested in sports; but injuries prevented him from participating in them this year. His smiling features are a treat to behold in the corridors. Football 2, 3, Basketball, Intramural Baseball 3. Francis Emile Nourie His only fault is that he has no faults. Francis' very fine singing voice was discovered during his junior year. Since then he has been a source of great pleasure to all of us by singing at many of our school affairs. If you don't already know Francis, he's the boy with the nice brown wavy hair. Glee Club, Orchestra .2, Class Color and Flower Committee 3. Eileen Janet Levasseur She has a knack for making friends, A way of spreading cheer; A thousand happy habits That last throughout the year. The above ditty perfectly fits Eileen. This funloving miss is full of pep and uses up most of her energy in horseback riding and swimming, her favorite sports. Hockey, Basketball, Dramatic Club 2, 3, 4, History Club 3, Debating Club, French Club 4. Irja Aileen Lillstrang The world belongs to the energetic. I hear music! says this golden-haired miss. Involuntarily, Irja's feet begin to keep time for she can't resist music! With her laughing eyes and active gestures, Irja is a prize to watch on the basketball floor. But you don't know how sprightly Irja can be unless you've seen her at a football game. Hockey 2, Volleyball 2, 3, Basketball 2, 3, 4, Dramatic Club 4. Priscilla Louise Lowe A happy friendly ray of friendship. Sincerity dominates Priscilla's life though she is a bit modest and self-contained. She participates in all athletics, but swimming, skating, and hiking are her favorite diversions. Priscilla enjoys the cinema and at tends it often. After high school she hopes to become some sort of commercial worker. Barbara Louise MacCracken A witty woman is a treasure. Is there a time when Barbara has nothing to say? Small though she may be, she is very much alive and heard from during the school day. Her school day is not complete unless she is caught chewing gum in classes. Dramatic Club 2, 4, Readers' Guild 3, 4, Art Club 4. fm S Page 3$ John Padula He is cften seen but seldom heard. John, besides being a studious boy in school, keeps himself busy working in Carbone's market. In spite of his quiet manner he has made many friends among the students and was elected councillor of his home room. Write-up Committee, Councillor 4. Alexandros Konstantinos Panageotes Brevity is the soul of wit. Alec is a typical happy-go-lucky youth and many are deceived by his angelic expression. He has a well-modulated tenor voice and sings in the Holy Trinity Church choir. Despite his mischievous nature, he labors both at his studies and his paper route. The girls claim he is a bit flirtatious, but it seems to be an asset. Glee Club 2, Intramural Basketball, Intramural Baseball 3. Louis Pandiscio The secret of the universe is personality. Here we have one of Miss Nason's art enthusiasts. Looey, as he is often called, has produced many fine posters for our school. His ambition is to become an aviator, but nevertheless he plans to stay with his paint brushes and become a commercial artist. While passing from classrooms he is often seen with a brush across his ear. His favorite sport is ice skating. Councillor 2, Write-up Committee 4. Lewis Taylor Paradise The guardian of honor. Cave-man Paradise would be an appropriate name for Lewis, especially with that beautiful beard he allows to grow every four or five days. Besides his exquisite ties, Louie is noted for not shaving. He's an especially good English student, we hear. Ruth Eileen McFarland Rich in good works. Now that we've seen Ruth's embroidery exhibit in Miss Dunn's room, we have no doubt as to the truth of Ruth's reputation with the needle. Ruth is a pretty, slender, smiling blond member of our class whose present ambition is to become a hairdresser. She plans to study at the Peacock Beauty Salon in Worcester. Junior- Senior Reception 3, Dramatic Club 3, 4, Round Table 4. Gladys Emma McNair The mildest manners and the biavest mind. Really you haven't seen Gladys in her element unless you have seen her at a roller skating rink. She is absolutely gone on roller skating. We agree it is a swell hobby if you don't sit down too much. She also is grand in the gymnasium. Gladys is the typical sport-loving type. Hockey 4. Margaret McNair Thy modesty is a candle to thy merit. Whenever one sees Peggy, one sees her pal Verna Pierce. We sometimes wonder what all that talking in the gym corners is about. Margaret delights in knitting which takes up a great deal of her time. Peggy is a very popular girl with both sexes and enjoys life immensely. Dancing and all outdoor sports appeal to Peggy. Helen Irene Mackey We meet thee like a pleasant thought. Helen is always ready with a joke, and consequently, keeps her classmates in constant spasms. She is an ardent sports lover and goes in strenuously for basketball, hockey, and volleyball, in their due seasons. Helen is considered very attractive and neat in ap- pearance. Hockey, Dramatic Club 2, Basketball 3. Page 9 I Rocco Richard Pasquale He would rather lose his dinner than his jest. We find Rocco a happy-go-lucky fellow, always with a smile, and one who is good company to have around school. He devotes his time after school to working at the bowling alleys. During the winter his pastime is skating. We must not, however, overlook his exceptionally fine dancing. Charles Peri Prcud bearing is appropriate to proud fortunes. Charles is a carefree, jolly fellow always with a smile. If ever you see a little gathering in the hallway, there is Charlie in the center giving his tap dance exhibition. Out of school he helps manage his father's grocery store. John Rudolph Perko Peace to all such. John is popular among the students despite his quiet manner. Besides being councillor of bis room, he also works as a part-timer in the bank. Between these two activities John is kept quite busy, but he is quite capable in handling them. Intramural Basketball 3,4, Councillor 4. Roger Wade Persons Reason is measured by principle. Rosy, a name by which he has been called since his first days in school, is that dark curly-haired beau whom Mr. Dillon christened Termite in a discussion in U. S. History one day last year. He likes to read good books, build model airplanes, and play on his drum accompanied by some dance band on the radio. Alice Elizabeth Mahar A smile that glowed with friendship. Ay, and 'tis a wee imp of mischief which shines in Ally's brown eyes. Her laughter rings with joy, for a merry girl is she. An animal lover, especially of dogs; a conscientious worker, and a grand pal are the best words to describe a girl who is a credit to her class. Hockey 2, Volleyball, Dramatic Club 2, 4, Debating Club 2, 3, 4, Basketball, Readers' Guild 3, 4, Marshal 4. Florence Marie Mailhot First in the fight and every graceful deed. No doubt you've seen Florence around school. She has brown hair and wears the brightest ribbons. Unless she has changed a lot, she still is fond of basketball. Florence is a good deal of a movie fan, and no doubt if you're interested in the Movie Quiz, she could give you some of the answers. Hockey, Volleyball 2, Dramatic Club 2, 3, 4, Basketball 3, 4. Irma Viola Maki She may be small, but she's the best of them all. Irma may be recognized, not only because she is a small, cute blond, but also from that lost sleep look in her eyes. We hope the cause is not homework. Irma has a great love for all outdoor sports including dancing and camping. Hockey, Basketball 2, Dramatic Club 2, 4, History Club 3. Virginia Avis Manning Sunshine and good humor all the world over. Jimmy may be seen swimming strenuously during the summer months, and during the winter her free time is occupied in seeking a movie, at least three a week, we've heard. She loves taking care of children; maybe it's due to the fact that she has three small sisters. Jimmy is very tiny. Page 40 Z 0 ULi) £sl Nilo Peter Pochini Wisdom is better than rubies. Outside of school hours Nilo works in his brother's store on Water Street. Although clerking in a grocery store is not Nilo's ambition, he pretends to like his job. In school Nilo likes to be by himself. Although Nilo did not excel in any school activities, he's a whiz when playing basketball outside. Relay Team 3, Intra- mural Basketball 4. Noel Gerard Pomerleau Nothing is impossible to a willing heart. Noel is one of the students who hail from Pearl Hill. In school Noel is often seen on the second floor talking with a group of pretty girls. Somehow he has a way with women. Maybe it's that manu- factured curl on his head that attracts them. Paul William Price A good man possesses a kingdom. Although Paul doesn't make much noise verbally, he makes some very delightful noises playing his xylophone and drums. He has entertained us with his music at many of our school affairs. Band, Orchestra 2, 3, 4. Alfred Emmanuel Provencial His laugh was a merry chorus. Al is one of the largest members of our class. He is an amateur photographer and is also quite skilled in model making. He has many fine ship models. Al is an eagle scout. Debating Club, Dramatic Club 4. Barbara Jane Marland Her ways are pleasant and all her paths are peace. Barbara, who belongs in the petite class, seems quiet in school and keeps her troubles and joys to herself. But, she is, in truth, very jolly and lively when among her friends and makes an en- joyable companion. She is interested in Scout work which occupies much of her time. Glee Club 2, Hockey 4. Lena Marranzino There is safety in silence. Lena is an enthusiastic movie fan who goes to the cinema very often, and makes a hobby of collecting pictures of movie stars, espe- cially of Mickey Rooney, her favorite actor. She likes sports and plays a good game of tennis although her favorite sport is volleyball. Dorothy Evelyn Maxwell Honest endeavor is always sure of a reward. Dorothy is a crackerjack stenographer. She likes this type of work so much that she is going to take a post-graduate course here after graduation. Last year she came to us from Townsend where she was an active member of the Glee Club and basketball team. Evelyn Mary Meldrum She must be known to be appreciated. Evelyn works as a part-timer outside of school at Crocker Field. This probably explains our unfamiliarity with her. Although she may be a quiet student, she has tried to keep up with all the school activities. She is quite serious in all her school work and is a favored honor student. Dramatic Club 2, Basketball 2, 3, 4. Page 41 Ralph Gunnar Rahmberg A man of hope and forward-locking mind. Ralph is a very quiet fellow, who, although he doesn't take part in many school activities, yet usually stands high in scholar- ship. He helps the band out by carrying the front of the bass drum.' A fine fellow in every way. Band 3, 4, French Club, Write-up Committee 4. Unto Friidolf Rautio He is never less at leisure than when at leisure. Unto is one of the few serious-minded boys in the class of '39. His favorite hobby is aeronautical engineering. A man of many tastes, he also likes physical training, especially resistance weights and swimming. His smile is his fortune and with his quiet manner, it greatly enhances his personality. Football 2, 3. John Thomas Regan Care is an enemy to life. John is one of our happy-go-lucky students; we would like more of them. He is interested in and often seen with the weaker sex. John is a part-timer, and tries to keep up with his studies in part of the so much occupied time. We are uncertain if John is successful in this run around, but we have hopes for him. Tauno Henry Rivers What comes from this quarter, set it down as so much gain. Tauno is the good looking blond who dresses so smoothly, which fact the opposite sex has observed. It's beyond our powers of comprehension how this young man, although fully occupied with outside activities, can keep up such a fine scholastic standing. We pay tribute to his keen mind and winning personality. Class Ring Committee 3, Relay Team 3. Aili Mikkola Respect the faculty that forms thy judgment. Aili's quiet reserved manner has made her well liked by all the students. We think actions, not words, have given Aili the host of friends that she has. She doesn't think that homework is the pleasantest pastime, but always manages to have it done. Glee Club 3, Dramatic Club 3, 4, Hockey 4. Mary Nancy Mittola A clear fire and a clean health. You should have a certain period for each home subject, Miss Blank told her class. This advice Mary follows to a T, for Mary- has a system of studying which can't be beaten. A good Spanish student, she never bats an eyelash when she listens to some of our peculiar translations of her pet subject, Spanish. Glee Club 2, Basketball, Dramatic Club 4. Marie Agnes Morin Her pure simplicity is pleasing to all. Marie is a dark-haired, dark-eyed girl who is very much interested in art, particularly crafts. Hockey, Glee Club 2, Dramatic Club 2, 3, Debating Club 2, 3, 4. Page 33 Berle Margaret Tapply So well she acted every pari. Berle's high school years might well form the plot of a success story. When a freshman, she won a medal for being the best all- around scholar in her class. She proved her dramatic ability in the Open Meeting of 1937 by being acclaimed the best actress in Bab- bitt's Boy . Her favorite outdoor sports are skiing and hiking; her favorite companion Charlie. Dramatic Club 2, 3, 4, History Club, Chairman Junior Prom Committee, Open Meeting, Junior- Senior Reception Committee 3, Basketball 3, 4, Vice-President Dramatic Club, Round Table 4. Mary Mildred Thomas A fair exterior is a silent recommendation. Millie is widely known both for her swinging skirts and flowing hair. Hildegarde admires sophisticates and likes to attract people by her original, witty manner. Hildie enjoys attending social gatherings and is usually the life of the party. She is a member of the Night Hawks of East Jaffrey. Basketball 2, 3, Dramatic Club 2, 3, 4, Hockey 2, 4, History Club 3. Elma Julia Tienari Pleasing to all, annoying to none. Elma comes to us from West Fitchburg. She is often seen about the building with her good friend Ruth Connors. You'll always find her swimming in the summer and skiing in the winter as she is a very athletic girl. She plans to go in training in the fall. Dramatic Club 3. Eleanor Marjorie Tiilikkala Dainty and sweet, a maiden petite. Here's a girl who may well be called school spirit. Eleanor dotes on sports and has contributed a large amount of enthusiasm, sup- port, and loyalty to the teams of our school. Eleanor always tries to put everything into what she does, homework included. Glee Club 2, Dramatic Club 2, 3, 4, French Club 3, Basketball 4. Jean Elizabeth Sullivan She's pretty to walk with, And witty to talk with. Jean has a beautiful profile which looks almost as if it were chiseled out of marble. Jean spends most of her spare time drawing plans for a home, inside and out. She is planning to study nursing. Dramatic Club 2, 4, Basketball, Junior-Senior Reception Com- mittee 3, Red andGray Board 4. Rita Therrien Experience keeps a dear school. This senior with her lissome grace is a familiar figure in the senior basketball games. Rita's pet hobby is making one basket after another, and she leads her fellow players a merry chase. Her enthusiastic cries of encouragement to her fellow players can be heard throughout the gym. Hockey 2, Vollevball 2, 3, Dramatic Club, Basketball 2, 3, 4, French Club 3, 4. Miriam Elizabeth Thomas Her sunny temper gilds the edge of life's blackest cloud. We have yet to see Miriam when she is not in a good mood. Miriam though faithful to her studies would rather spend her time at the movies, for movies are her best entertainment. She likes sports and makes an excellent guard in basketball. She is also fond of skiing. Hockey, Glee Club 2, Basketball 2, 3, 4, Dramatic Club, Write-up Committee 4. Elena Stupak Her delicate feet in the dance twinkle around. When you see a dark mop of curls bobbing along the corridor, you may be sure that the owner of them is Elena. She may be found almost any afternoon pecking at a typewriter or taking dicta- tion at Foster's Insurance Agency. She's also an accomplished Denishawn dancer and many admirers have been left breathless by her grace and rhythmic interpretations. Glee Club 2, 3, Dramatic Club 2, 3, 4, Councillor 2, 4, History Club, Class Flower and Color Committee 3, Chairman Class Prophecy Committee 4. Page 54 1 DDLs) HI Mary Frances Towle Studious she sat with her books all around. Mary is our mathematics wizard and even astonishes Mr- Howe. She is equally smart in the rest of her studies and upholds the tradition of Westminster pupils as good students. Glee Club 2, Dramatic Club 2, 3, 4, Round Table 4. Barbara Priscilla Tucker Her words trip her about at command. The stars must have foretold never a dull moment for this happy-go-lucky senior. Tucker certainly endeavors to make this prophecy come true. She is a member of a special club, The Night Hawks, which is noted for its unusual doings. In dramatics Tucker excels and has won fame in prize speaking and other dramatic work. Basketball 2, Dramatic Club 2, 3, 4, Open Meet ing 2, 4, History Club 3, French Club, Prize Speaking 3, 4. Beatrice Lucy Viggiano Earnestness and sport are often neighbors. Bibs puzzles us all because we do not see how she finds time to do all the things she does. Between periods she may be seen catch- ing up on her homework. After school she works in the Five and Ten, hurries home to get some more homework done, and still has time to take in a show. She also knits as a favorite pastime. Glee Club 2, 3, Basketball, Dramatic Club 3, 4, Write-up Committee 4. Ellen Virginia Tiilikkala A friend is known in necessity. Despite Ellen's quiet manner, she is considered a serious- minded student. She has hopes of carrying her commercial studies as far as she can so some day she may become someone's private secretary. As she is a frequent honor student she has possibilities of being what she desires. Dramatic Club 2, 3, 4. Jeanette Loretta Trudeau The great end in life is not knowledge, but action. A smiling maiden with blue eyes, lovely blond hair, and a fair complexion, is Jeanette, a future nurse. She should make an excel- lent nurse for she really is interested in helping humanity, and her everpresent smile should please her patients as it has her class- mates. Dramatic Club 2, 3, 4, History Club 3, Basketball 3, 4, French Club 4. Dorothy May Varney Quiet minds are generally the most happy. Dotty is a quiet girl with a shy smile. Our crystal ball shows she hopes to be an efficient private secretary. We always see her in one of three places — a skating rink, a swimming pool, or the movies. She always gets her lessons done. Basketball, Debating Club 4. Margaret Ann Waddell A merry heart makes a cheerful countenance. Margaret is very ambitious as she works as a part-timer at the lunch counter, where she does the bookkeeping and counts the money. As a hobby and pastime, she enjoys roller skating She belongs to the Whalom Skating Club and hopes some day to become a skating spinner. She is not planning to go to college, but hopes to secure a job in a business office after graduation. Alice Malley Walsh The endearing elegance of female friendship. Alice usually spends her English period with a dreamy far- away look in her eyes. We gather she finds this more fascinating than the practical subject of English. Each Monday night this senior can be seen wending her way to Monday night Sunday school, which, believe it or not, is the name of the class she attends. Dramatic Club 2, Basketball 3. Page 55 2 Beatrice Elvera Whitten She smiled and shadows departed. Of course you all know this diminutive girl who is the pride and joy of one of Mr. Dufour's Spanish classes. Bea's new Christy cut has drawn marked attention around the building. Bea can often be seen running down the corridors as if her very life depended on getting to class before her other classmates. Glee Club, Dramatic Club 2, 3, 4, History Club 3. Mildred Constance Wood Joy is the mainspring of nature. Millie is a blond young lady, who although she talks mostly at the wrong time means no harm. Movies have a great fascination for her, but a grocery store on Lunenburg Street where the one and only Art works, holds a still greater fascination. Volleyball 2, Dramatic Club 4. Clara Yakstis Her eyes were twinkling stars of friendship. Clara's nickname is Bubbles. Her persistent singing of I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles, won her the name. The name, however, suits her in other ways for Clara is always bubbling over with happiness, enthusiasm, and kindliness — a combination sturdy enough to weather any storm. Volleyball, Basketball 2, 3, 4, Glee Club 2, 4, History Club, Dramatic Club 3, Hockey, Operetta 4. Mignon Gladys Warner Neat, not gaudy. Minnie is a gay, little, talkative miss who always seems to be chatting with some classmate. We often wonder who's being ripped up the back now. No offense, Minnie, we all do it. She's ambitious and heads the list in determination, so we're sure her pleasant personality will aid her to enjoy future success. Glee Club 2, Dramatic Club 2, 4. Darthea Victoria Widlund Studious to please, yet not ashamed to fail. Darthea's chief torment is whether she will come out a victor or a loser in the struggle to gain knowledge. This senior is our minia- ture Florence Nightingale and often can be seen starting out to comfort some sick friend. Red hair may have been glorified by Titian, but to Darthea it has its bad points. Basketball, Volley- ball 2, 3, 4, Glee Club 2, 4, Operetta 4. Phyllis Wood A tender heart, a will inflexible. Phyllis has a large order to fill, that of trying (remember I said trying) to keep us students in law and order between periods. Being a marshal has its complications according to Phil's worried frown. This senior is a great believer in our new dance craze called the shag. Basketball, Dramatic Club, Glee Club 2, Marshal 4. Eunice Mae Young True merit is like a river, the deeper it is the less noise it makes. Suzie is interested in out-of-town boys and generally has a different one from a surrounding town. She sews well and she might be a dressmaker some day. She also plays the piano. Dramatic Club 2, 3, 4. Dorothea Rina Ztrakas True to her word, her work, her friends. Rina is the proud possessor of a true Grecian profile. She is skillful in all phases of handicraft, particularly crocheting. Rina likes to talk and can make even trivialities seem important. With the aid of her friend, Dot Kandianis, she works wonders. Swimming and dancing are her favorite exercises. Hockey, Glee Club 2, Basketball, Dramatic Club 2, 3, 4. Here we have a future story writer. His vivid imagination is guarantee enough of his ability to write stories. Vito is often seen on the second floor, chatting about some new story he has written. If you take particular notice, you will find his best chum, Louis Pandiscio, the victim of the conversation.
