Raoul Philip Brodeur He md) be small, bul he's the best of them all. Red is one of the most popular members of our class. He was cap- tain of our football team last fall, and one of our strong gridiron war- riors. If you don't believe it, ask a few of his opponents. Football called for only a small portion of his ability though, for he was also one of our best basketball players. Baseball 2, 3 Football 2, 3, 4 Basketball Fred Einard Salo Oj his stature, he was of great length And wonderfully active, and great of strength. Fred doesn't seem to care much for school work, but he is a great enthusiast in gym work. Thus, phy- sically, he has developed exception- ally well and has grown into a tall, strapping young man. Track 2, 3 Relay Team 3 Oiva Palo Modest and unassuming teas this boy in search of knowledge. Oiva Palo came here in his Junior year from Russia and has given us many fine talks on that country. He has often astounded the teachers by his scientific remarks. He intends to continue the study of science. Dramatic Club 3, 4 Lesli Eugene Tuomi A man of hope and forward-looking mind. Lesli, or Les as he is known to his intimates, came to us from Ashby in his Junior year. At first he ap- peared shy and timid and seemed to be in awe of the size of our school, but since then, he has gained many friends and has become one of the most popular Seniors. Lila Wilhelmina Salo Of manners gentle, of affections mild. Lila is quiet and good in her studies. She is an ardent basketball fan at the Y and gets a good deal of enjoyment out of all sports. Basketball 4 Gladys Margaret Rahmberg A merry twinkle of the eye, A sunny smile as she passes by. Gladdie's cheerful disposition and everready smile will always make room for her in any gathering. She is loyal to her school and class and is a first-rate student. Hockey, Basketball, Dramatic Club 2, 3, 4 French Club 4 Senior Thanksgiving Dance Committee Write-up Committee for Boulder 4 Isabel Doris Henderson An inborn grace that nothing lacked Of culture or appliance. Studious and serious-minded, Isa- bel has a great capacity for assum- ing other people's burdens. She does not seek the spotlight, but is sure of finding a secure place in life and of always being fully appreciated. Dramatic Club 2, 3, 4 Tyyra Ojala A good reputation is a great charge. All who know her will agree that she is one of the sweetest little girls who ever came from the country to grace the ranks of our class. As she is of quiet temperament, we know little about her interests outside of school. Volleyball 2 27

Arthur Edwin Talviainen The deed ptoies the man. Size does ni)t seem to handicap Flash when he plays basketball, for he holds his own with the best of them. He is quite adept in the art of swimming as his summer months are spent at a local swim- ming pool. He was the manager of our Junior relay team. Elias Samuel Halttunen Brevity is the soul oj wit. Elias, though one of the shyest boys in the class, especially when confronted by the opposite sex, is really a glib conversationalist and humorist when one gets acquainted with him. In all his classes, Elias manages to create a spirit of good feeling and humor through his own efforts and antics. Edmond Mailloux He is always in such perfect humor. Was he full of fun? Boy! When he started things, there was a rum- pus. Eddie also posted signs for the different theatres and had an usher's job at Shea's. Mr. Chalmers was quite fond of Eddie and often called him in for an interview. Walter Walfred Kandelin For some are horn to live and do great deeds. Very little has been heard from Walter during the past four years. He is cheerful and friendly to all those who have the good fortune to know him. He is interested in al- most ever)' sport, and is quite profi- cient in basketball, football, and base- ball. Erma Rachel Anderson The force of her own merit makes her way. Erma never makes herself conspicu- ous or loud. She loves to laugh — but never at the wrong time. She has a well controlled temper, a pleas- ant disposition, and is sympathetic and friendly towards all. One of her favorite winter diversions is skating. Jorma Lassila Nothing is impossible to the willing heart. Unusually quiet is Jorma when among strangers, but quite the oppo- site when with friends. Probably the reason why Jorma doesn't excel in his studies is because he spends so much time hunting, fishing, or trapping. Because of these numerous trips and excursions, he has become an ardent nature lover. David Jaquith Marble A plain and honest man. Marble is what you might call a gentleman farmer. His summers are spent working on a farm. One of the tallest fellows in the class with legs long enough to reach the ground. His school work has been consistently good. Robert Francis Burns, Jr. What should a man do hut be merry? When Bob isn't home, it's not hard to tell where he is. Everyone has seen this handsome young fellow touring the city streets in his black roadster. With his mischievous smile and ready wit, his future should hold nothing but success. Glee Club 2 Band 2 Dramatic Club 3 Marshal Stuart Addison MacMullen He bad the warmth of genial courtesy. A librarian, student, and head marshal rolled into one. Then after- wards come the outside sports. Mac certainly leads a full life and the secret of it must be humor for Mac is always smiling or laughing. One of his ambitions is to break the record of the Y. M. bowling alleys. Head Marshal 4 Councillor 4 1 Hilda Karppinen Wisdom is the principal thing. Hilda is a girl who puts the rest of us to shame with her ability to get high marks. She is one who doesn't try to bluf? her teachers. Nevertheless, Hilda is blessed with a keen sense of humor and an ex- ceedingly happy-go-lucky manner. Volleyball 2 Basketball, Hockey 2, 3 Rauha Gertrude Partala Golden eyes, golden hair, And a sweet and dignified air. Those of us who used to think Gertrude a quiet girl have changed our minds. She seems to be blessed with a gift of talkmg, too. She likes motor-cycling, but has discov- ered that the after effects aren't al- ways agreeable. Agnes Josephine Gorham She's here, she's there, she's all about, Lots of pep, and a real good scout. Agnes ably led the cheers at all the football games during her high school years. Friendly to all and amusing, she was very popular in school and out. Studies were of second importance to Agnes, but her name was frequently on the Honor Roll. Hockey, Basketball, 'Volleyball, Cheer Leader, Sports Referee, 2, 3, 4 Nelma Matilda Hendrickson Fair as the day. and sweet as May, Fair as the day, and always gay. Nelma is one of those rare per- sons who are in a good humor from morn to night. Her success is sure if her interest in interior decorating corresponds to her taste in clothes.
