3 0[)LD Jl Ji)i:£) Toivo Rustari Quiet but a man of strength. Toby was not particularly inter- ested in taking part in school sports. In school he was of the quiet type. He likes swimming, baseball, foot- ball, skiing, and skating. Relay Team 3 ; Track Team 4 Esther Emelia Waltanen I live not in fnyself, But I become a portion of that around me. Blonde, friendly, and gay fits Esther to a T. She figures that marks are a good thing, but fun is still better, and even if the former must suffer, Let's all have fun, all of which is a pretty good policy, sometimes. Esther has a grand sense of humor and her jollity never ceases. Glee Club, Dramatic Club 3 Erwin Alfred Hecker His words, like so many airy and nimble servitors, trip about him at command. Physically and vocally, Erwin is a man of action. He can form words so quickly and so easily that it re- quires a trained ear to understand him. He moves about with equal grace and ease. Relay Team 3 Rita Josephine Lemoine Good temper is like a sunny day; It sheds its brightness everywhere. Did you ever see Rita when she wasn't smiling? Perhaps the reason for this is that she never worries about her studies. She is, however, an ardent participant in sports and, as a result, has rosy cheeks and sparkling eyes. Volleyball 2, 3 Hockey, Basketball 2, 3, 4 Class Color Committee 3 Dramatic Club 3, 4 William Brown Waddell His works speak for him. W illie is one of our hard-working boys in school and outside. This, combined with his naturally quiet manner makes him rather obscure, but then, the loudest man is not necessarily the smartest ! This is particularly true in Willie's case and his most intimate friends will not be surprised to see him go far in his chosen profession. James Martin McNamara am sure care's an enemy to life. Class loyalty, executive ability, and a thorough enjoyment of life are Jimmie's outstanding characteristics and will probably carry him far in whatever field he selects. A favor- ite with both sexes. Dramatic Club Red and Gray Board 2, 3, 4 Junior Dance Committee 3 Round Table President, Debating Club 4 Mary Little Coombs A stately maid of quiet mien. Mary has gained lots of friends during the past four years because of her quiet manner and sense of humor. She is a very good student and has taken part in many of our activities. Basketball 2 Dramatic Club, Round Table 4 Louise Bull But a merrier girl, Within the limits of becoming mirth 1 never spent an hour's talk withal. Squeeze is one of our most popu- lar girls. She has very ably edited the Red and Gray this past year, and before the fire was an energetic marshal on the third floor. She has a well-known and infectious smile, which has gained her a host of friends. A very capable student, Louise is bound to get along splen- didly at Wellesley. Dramatic Club 2, 3, 4 Debating Club 3 Chairman, Junior-Senior Recep- tion Committee 3 Red and Gray Board 3 Editor-in-Chief, Red and Gray; Marshal, Round Table 4 11

Warren Wilbur Marcy His friends and fortunes one could guess, By his fine habits and gentleness. Warren is the sort of fellow who mixes well with both sexes. He is very neat in appearance and his beaming expression more than makes up for his quiet demeanor. It will only be a matter of time before he will be showing his heels to many of us in the race for success. William Joseph Courtemanche As happy as the day is long, With hardly ever a lesson wrong. Courtemanche is a man of few words. He is one of our outstanding pupils in the college course, since he has attained a high scholastic record. To our knowledge, he doesn't indulge in sport and seems to be contented with a quiet and mild life. Marshal Rodney Lawrence Erickson A goodly share of laughter in his eye. Bud can always be identified in a crowd by his broad smile and his jolly face. He is not exactly apathe- tic to the opposite sex, although he seems so in school. In winter sports he shines, especially on the skating rink where he has yet to meet his match. Councillor 2 Frederick Thomas Poultney My designs and labor, and my aspirations. Are my friends. Freddie, who hails from West Fitchburg, has always been known to be quiet in and around the schools surroundings. Although this handsome young man is very shy, he has maay friends. Mechani- cal drawing seems to be Freddie's aim. Glee Club 4 ill Eleanor May Parkhurst Hou far that candle throws its beams. Besides possessing an excellent sense of humor, Eleanor is also very candid. Because of these character- istics, she is the life of a certain class. Her determined spirit will without a doubt fulfill her plans for the future. Dramatic Club 2 Glee Club, Holy City, Pop Concert 3 Elna Marian Perko A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance. Elna has a great many friends be- cause of her unfailing good nature. She has done well in all the school sports in which she has taken part. She fu rnished jokes for the Boulder as a member of the joke committee. Basketball, Volleyball 2 Hockey 2, 3 Boulder Joke Committee Rose Flaum Kind and quiet, ahvays neat. Rose has a tendency for the soli- tary life which is seldom broken ex- cept by her close friends. Never- theless, we have perceived that she has many winning qualities. She likes all sports and is a very good volleyball player. Basketball 2 Hockey 2, 3; Volleyball 3 Helvi Irene Wesa Bright as the sun her eyes were, And like the sun, they shone on all alike. Helvi, friend and helper to all, is an inhabitant of the South Side. Her many friends are proof of her amiability and thoughtfulness. One of Helvi's characteristics is to see a job to the finish, which certainly points to a successful life. Basketball 2; Dramatic Club 3 10

David John Sweeney Business before pleasure. Dave is a lucky fellow. He com- bines his business with his pleasure by serving as an usher at the Cum- ings Theatre. Our guess is that he studies between the acts to have the time he does for outside sports. At any rate, in whatever he does, he brings home the bacon. Basketball 2, 3 Lillian Gladys Filiponis Gentle to hear, kind to judge. Lillian may be small, but, oh my! She is quite a gay chatterer and her willingness to divert her schoolmates has brought her near 310, more than once! She is well liked, however, and supports her school with zest. Volleyball, Basketball 2 Dramatic Club 3 Andrew Hawthorne Cheerily greeting each oncoming da). Gilding with smiles each step of the way. Andy's chief characteristics are his devilish grin and happy-go-lucky manner. He never seemed to have a care, unless it was a new way to make life miserable for his teachers. We do not know Andy s plans for the future, but will wager that in whatever he does he will be suc- cessful. Football 4 Arne Pavo Parnanen Endurance is the crowning quality. And patience all the passion of great hearts. Pavo is known to us as an earnest student. He didn't indulge in school .sports, but was often seen enjoy- ing himself on the skating rink with his friends. Helen Marjorie Rafuse Her voice is like the evening thrush. Helen likes to sing and we enjo i hearing her, although we must say that she didn't give us very many opportunities. Hairdressing is fas- cinating to her and she intends to make it her occupation. Glee Club 3 Katharine Chalmers A sueeter maiden one can not find. The above quotation is perfectly true of Kat. Her lovability made her one of the most popular girls in the class and her fine qualities endeared her still more. Kat is prominent in sports and dramatics, and is, moreover, a very good stu- dent. Hockey, Basketball 2 Dramatic Club 2, 3, 4 Junior-Senior Reception Com- mittee 3 Thanksgiving Dance Committee, Marshal 4 Harold Franklyn Jacobson Oh. it is excellent to have a giant's strength. Harold is one of the tallest boys in our class and one of the most cheerful. One can always draw a good laugh from Harold, be it in work or in play. His height is a great asset on the basketball court, on which he has always been a prominent figure. He is well known for his football prowess, also. Rachel Kenney She does little kindnesses, Which most leave undone, or despise. No rings on her fingers, no bells on her toes, she makes no commo- tion wherever she goes, but in her unassuming way she leaves a defi- nite and restful impression and makes few demands on her friends. Hockey, Basketball, Dramatic Club 2, 3, 4 12
