Parents, teachers, administrators, and friends have all helpe to shape what you are and what you will become; but, tf greatest shaper is you! Many wonderful things have happened in the interim. We have jested about my insistence that Fitch is number one, but we know it is true. It is true not only because of outstand- ing accomplishments of individuals and groups, but also because of all the little things that make our school a special place to be. As I think back, there are many special memories of people and events. Now the time has come for you to leave Fitch. You will not be here, but you will not be forgotten. Congratulations to those of you who have met the re- quirements for graduation. You have achieved a worthwhile goal and a measure of success. I am sure that all of you have that feel- ing of pride and satisfaction that comes from a job well done. Now that you are embarking on a new life, you will have the opportunity to choose many new goals. It is important for everyone to have goals because they provide you with an impor- tant reference point, incentive, a sense of direction and a purpose in life. There are really two kinds of goals — short range and long range goals. Everyone should have some of each kind, but both kinds should be realistic and to some extent attainable. Let your goals be the guiding stars from which you obtain your bearings as you navigate a new course through life. Even though you may encounter detours and frustrations, keep your goals in sight. You have already learned that goals are only achieved through hard work. This will enable you to relive that feeling of pride and satisfaction over and over again. You leave Fitch Senior High a more com- plete and mature person with new horizons before you.
