Une Superintendent ef Seneels THOUGHTS FOR A YEARBOOK T967 More than forty years have passed since the writer graduated from high school. In the in- terim, many things have happened in the world of men. In our country we have known ten years of depression, an equal number of war or ot peace, some several years of prosperity and of social protest. For all those more than forty years, we have experienced breath-taking advances in science and technology. Not to have lived through this period is not to understand it. Yet, who would have thought in '26 that all the things that have happened, would? Who can predict what the next forty years hold for our Country and for you? Not the writer, but he can express a hope for the future that each of you could help come true. The hope is that we may learn to spend for welfare instead of warfare, that science will seek sera rather than sophisticated weapons, that good-will may replace ill-will among men and nations, that prosperity based on productive ettort will be realized throughout the world. The hope may be visionary, it is not unattainable if each of you will strive for it and en- courage others to do the same. WILLIAM M. FARRIS

l .714 dliwrcciafivu After twenty-six years Mr. Tyler is leaving Fitch. Even so his service will continue to be felt here from his new position. Next year a new principal will perform Mr. Tyler's duties, and Fitch will remain much the same. The man himself will be gone, though, and those of us who re- member the sloppy ties, his interest in student activities, his watchful tread about the school and his humor will' feel the difference-and the subtle loss. i J l Prirzczjwzl 5 Message A person's success in life is under the close scrutiny of his peers, his relatives, and all the rest of the society in which he works, studies, plays and prays. This is as true for each of you individually as it is for the person alluded to above. The degree of success is measured by many standards. These criteria are set by the iudge's own philosophy of life, his own objectives, his own experiences, his own moral fiber. Thus to some you may have done well while to others there is much to be desired. For myself, l evaluate your success on your achievement as compared to your ability, your willingness to cooperate, your demonstrated respect for other persons, your attitude toviiard constituted authority, your friendliness, warmth, and sense of humor, your giving as well as your receiving-all these things and more. As a group you the class of 1967 measure up . As individuals, some of you are out- standing. lt has been my pleasure, to know you, to talk with you, and to help you along the way. My very best wishes for continued success. ' Qqwife W
