Champaign County Track Champs As our yearbook is going to press, our track squad has had a perfect season through May 6, having copped first place in the seven meets in which We competed. GAA The G A A has been fxery active this year Offlcers are La vaughn Cotterell, president Marlene Delaney vice president Anita Llestman secretary treasurer Katy Furtney student council represen tative Judy Kellar reporter, Kay Jones, parllamentarlan Our spon sor was Mrs Short We had after school 2CtlVltl6S both in the gym and outside We played basketball softball badmmton and volleyball, these bemg the most popular activities among our members Also we went skating and swimming several times Thls activity was opened to any girl in school who wished to go A luncheon was given ln the early part of May at which tlme awards were given and officers installed Letterman s Club year President Galen Horsch Vice President Richard Bernett Sec retary Treasurer Clyde Ingold Student Council Representative Mike Kelly Reporter Ron Wilson We elected Lavaughn Cotterell as our queen candldate and Barbara Coffin as her alternate We acted out Dragnet as the theme for our float It worked out well but was not good enough to win any awards Then a chili supper was scheduled which was attended by almost everyone in our club and it turned out real well Next in our activities was the initiation of new members which is looked forward to every year They had to wear a vvarled assortment of clothes shine shoes and the usual things that go on every year The new members were Roscoe Specht Darrell Wilson Albert Schrock Max Hinton Kent Hauersperger Pete Jackson, LaVern Zehr and Duane Beasley They had to perform before the study hall the 9th period and we closed the 1n1t1at1on with a rendezvous in the locker room with the new members fimshmg by swabblng down the locker room That ended the activities for the Letterman s Club for '54 C I I G .
