Band This year our band was organized under the direction of Mr Loftrss The band started the year by playing at the Amvet program Soon after this performance the band started playing at the football games Thrs was the fir st year our band drd playing formations for the football games The formations were per formed with an unusually small amount of people The band consrsted of 21 play mg members and 3 majorettes Although the band drd these formations with such a small number of performers the formations were done very well At Christmas time the band worked with the chorus rn presenting a production of The Christmas Story The programing was unique rn that rt mvolved close co ordination between stage sequence under the direction of Mr Moyer and the in strunrental and vocal music During the first part of the second semester 17 of our band members entered the Drstrrct Solo and Ensemble contest vshrch was held at Arcola Every student entered received an excellent or superior rating entitling them to awards The stu dents received a total of 20 individual awards which rs the most our school has re Cen ed rn hrgh school contest competrtron The ratings were as follows Clarinet trio First CState Frnalsj Brass sextet First QSuperrorJ Brass quintet Second fExcellentJ Saxophone quintet Second lExcellentJ Clarinet solo-Pat Brrkey Second iExcellentJ April 10 was the date the band entered the District Organization Contest at Ar cola The Fisher band was the smallest to enter this years competition In spite of this situation the band performed extremely well as witnessed by the Judging sheets and the 'first rn the sight reading contest During the latter part of April the band members were participants rn the Cham palgn County Music Festival whrch was held in the Urbana Gymnasium The final performance of the year was the Spring Concert given rn May First row seated Patty Blrlrey Eugene Banner Judy Kellar Anrta Llestman Albert Schrock Marlene Cender Coena Blair Second row seated Kay Jones Karen Lrestman Lester Hadler Dan ny Bermrngham Paul Good Maris Knox Delmar Good Mike Kelly Leland Good, Harley Schrock Helen Kuykendall Standing Shrrley Kuykendall Janice Davis Marlene Delaney Mr Loftlss Clarinet Trro Judy Kellar, Eugene Banner Patty Brrkey Brass Sextet Paul Good Delmar Good Helen Kuykendall Albert Schrock Marrs Knox Hailey Schrock Saxophone quartet Kay Jones Karen Lrestman Lester Hadler Dan ny Bermmgham rfsxib- ff?
