To the Class of 1988: have but one lamp by which my feet are guided, and that is the lamp of experience. I know of no way of judging the future but by the past. These words were spoken in 1775 by the Ameri- can patriot Patrick Henry. In recalling his wis- dom, we are reminded of the rich heritage pro- vided by our predecessors. The men and women of the past, through blood, sweat, and tears, have created for us the finest social order that has ever existed on this earth. Comfort, health, knowledge, and freedom abound in quantities unknown before our time. Rapidly expanding opportunities for self-ex- pression, development, and achievement now available to women like you are especially im- portant. These opportunities are provided by the efforts of others in the past. Noursih them, use them, expand them. Add to our world your ex- perience, your skills, and your talents acquired at Fisher Junior College and elsewhere during your lifetime and create an even better world for yourself and those who follow you. Your faculty and administration at Fisher Ju- nior College have diligently worked to enrich your knowledge and understanding of past and present. We commend your attentive and pur- poseful participation. Our experience is now yours. We want wishing you most rewarding, productive, Dr. Scott A. Fisher President 2
