1976 BEACON FISHER JUNIOR COLLEGE BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS FROSH STAFF EVENTS SCOTT A. FISHER, A.A., B.A., M.B.A. President 1976 BEACON As you, the class of 1976, graduate, you have the unique feature of being part of the nation ' s bicentennial celebration. Across the country Americans are pausing to re- call the people and events which created the rich heritage we enjoy. This is a time for each of you to reflect as well. During the 200 years of our nation ' s history, almost all scientific knowledge has been discovered. Sweeping social reforms have dramatically transformed the lives of all citizens and produced exciting opportunities and challenges to us that were not dreamed of a generation or two ago especially for young women. Vision, sacrifice and accomplishment are characterized by the Molly Pitchers and the Thomas Jeffersons who have preceded us. We can be proud of our great nation and take pride in being part of it. This year, each of you reach a milestone in your own lives. You have worked, studied and contributed to your society. Graduation is official recognition of your pro- gress to date. What now? You will have both the privilege and responsibility of making your contribution to our continuing heritage. Despite what the pessimists of our day say, the world is bet- ter than ever before. By your diligent effort you can make it even more so for genera- tions to come. I urge you to take advantage of every opportunity to do so. While at Fisher Junior College, the faculty has guided you in your discovery of facts, concepts, ideas and philosophies. We have tried to help you review learned thoughts, to understand it, and form your individual conclusions. We have tried to bring to your attention the great lessons and wisdom of the past in order that you might maximize the promise of the future. As you leave the college, and our hands part, we give you our lasting affection and hearty wishes for fulfillment each day for the rest of your life. Most sincerely, I BOSTON: the place where all of America began. 6 Trinity Church a strong foundation v Wk .mmim of religious beliefs. n SENIOR DEDICATION The class of 1976 would like to dedicate THE BEA- CON to you, Ms. Barton, in hopes of showing you how thankful we are for everything you have done for us. You have always let us talk to you and you have been sympathetic to our problems. We could always count on you to lead us in the right direction and give us the confidence to stand up for ourselves. For the commuters as well as the dorm students, you have always supplied us with the warmth and love only found at home. Wil- lingly, you provided the other side of college life by arranging our outside activities which are equally im- portant as our academic work. You, will always be remembered through this dedica- tion; but most important, where it counts--in our hearts. MA RG A RETT A BARTON Assistant Director of Student Services Director of Residences 2 THANKS FOR ... Being a mother when ours was so far away Being a friend when we needed one, Letting us call you late at night just to talk, Leading us in activities, Taking us to the Bahammas and Bermuda Giving us parietals, For our juke box and making our lounge livable, Being a shoulder to cry on, Initiating programs for our enjoyment, ALL YOU ' VE DONE! 13 ALBERT L. FISHER, A.A., B.S., ED. M. Mr. Albert Fisher, who has been with Fisher Junior College for 41 years, is retiring this year. His first year at Fisher was at the Boston School on Franklin Street, Boston serving under the director of his father, M. C. Fisher. The next year he was assigned as director of the Somerville School, where he was from 1936 to 1949. In 1947 the school was changed to a Veterans School which continued until 1952. With the closing of the Veterans Division, Mr. Albert moved to 118 Beacon Street, in charge of Student Personnel Services and has contin- ued in that capacity to the present. Your leadership has been of great value to every student that has attended Fisher Junior College. You will be deeply missed, and we all want to wish you a fond farewell. 15 19 f A 9 TERRY A.
