President ' s Message It was no small step taken by you, or many of you, to leave your homes in small- er cities and towns and come to the larger city — Boston. Yet, it was a step forward, for it called for the making of new friends, establishing yourself in a new environment, and arriving at decisions which were your » very own. In this same way, after your sojourn at Fisher, you are ready for yet another step — into a much more exciting, daring, and SANFORD L. FISHER B.S., Ed.M. venturesome world. Change will be breath- President taking, the sands of time will ebb and flow more than twice in twenty-four hours. Every minute in every day will be more important to you. At the same time, with so many more opportunities, wise choices will prove more rewarding, even though a balanced and stable life will be more difficult to attain. So, you leave Fisher, not alone as a graduate, but, through months of serious preparation, a more creative force, a power for good, with abilities resident within you which call out for fulfillment. Thus you now are called upon to match your knowl- edge, talents, and skills against the requirements of your new day. The plans for the future are staggering. In your lifetime there will be more miracu- lous changes than in all the recorded history of this country. Social and economic changes will challenge you to keep up with them. Science will be ready to take you into outer space. Sidney, Australia and Calcutta, India will be less than thirty minutes away by the latest means of travel. More people from distant lands will share their cultures with you. You will be called upon to appreciate, understand, and enjoy a NEW relationship with a much wider and complicated universe. May I remind you, however, that there is another side which must not be over- looked — YOU. To date this has been an interesting life. It should continue to be just that. It will if you do not forget or lose sight of your immediate individual goals. Cultural interest and hobbies bring satisfying rewards. From day to day in your work- a-day life strive to improve personal, social, and business assets and through achieve- ment and quality performance, to grow in stature and recognition. Not only I, but every member of the faculty and staff wish you fullness in this growth and a rich and rewarding life.
