the Curious Minded Firestone ' s planetarium was built for the use of astronomy students from the entire Akron area. Akron U. classes, city-wide grade and junior high schools, and adult astronomy classes all use the planetarium. Informative lectures about the stars are given every week-day by Mr. Donald Hammett. The fifty-foot dome of the planetarium enables students to see stars which are not always visible in the sky over an urban area such as ours. The Firestone library has become much more than just a storage room for books. Under the guidance of Miss Virginia Himebaugh, the library has acquired many kinds of visual and audio equipment such as stereo tape equipment, slide making ektographs, copy press, and film strip viewers. New this year is a microfilm pro- jector. This machine enables the li- brary to easily store information that originally appeared in newspapers and magazines. Magazines, newspapers, and over 9,000 books are circulated through the library. It is now also possible to bor- row on e of the many stereo recordings that are in the library. Miss Himebaugh investigates the new visual aids equipment in the library. VIRGINIA HIMEBAUGH U. of Akron Western Reserve U. Mrs. Deihl enjoys keeping track of overdue books. Filmstrip viewers enable students to make up missed work. 21
