U. of Dayton The Study of Great Literature Enriches Life The English department introduces students to some of the world ' s finest literature. Students also have an oppor- tunity to impr ove their vocabularies, usage, and writing and verbal skills. Sophomore classes are taught by Mr. Earl Love, Mrs. Ruth Nilsson, and Mr. David Robb. Most juniors and the sophomore honor classes study American literature with Mrs. Florence Rosenfeld, Mr. Richard Pasher, and Mr. Thomas Smith. Miss Nancy Mettler, Mrs. Margaret Van- Horne, Mr. John Vandever, Mrs. Sandra Kent, and Mr. Robb teach English literature to seniors and junior honor students. Senior honors and advanced placement classes study world literature under Mr. Vandever and Miss Mettler. Mr. Smith has classes in drama and speech. He also conducts an independent reading seminar and is coach of the debate team. As well as teaching sophomore English, Mr. Love is the adviser of the visual aids department. Mr. Vandever chit-chats with his class. 18
