RECOGNITION Mrs. Charlotte Spencer. who has taught English and Hlstory at Flnneytown since 1959, is leaving her classroom post. While missing her students and her work with the Future Teachers of America tshe has encouraged the 20-25 members in their tutoring projectst. she plans to pursue various hobbies-reading. painting landscapes in either oils or water colors. bridge, and travel. She hopes to visit Greece and Egypt where the ancient civilizations began. An Arkansas native, Mrs. Spencer graduated from high school in Colorado. attended the University of Denver there. and received her undergraduate degree from the University of Alabama. Her masters' trom the University of Utah and 30 additional hours of study from U. C. and Miami University earned her the rank of educational specialist and chairman of our social studies department. She taught in Alabama and Pennsylvania high schools and served as an examiner with the UV 3, Civil Service Commission before coming here. Finneytown will certainly miss Mrs. Spencer's dedication to her students and thorough knowledge of her subject areas. I see it. but I don't believe it!

Mrs. Spencer, making a polnt in one of her World History classes. uI used to know and teach all of the students In the hlgh schooL but now the school has grown so much I do not have the opportunity to have each boy and girl in class. One of the thrllls of teachlng, is when a boy or girl, who has been sitting and staring during a history lesson. suddenly blossoms forth and learns. . . Another thrill is having a stu- dent come to you as a personal friend.
