Moore, Assistant Principal, has held the difficultjob of school disciplinarian since 1958. He shoulders the weight of all the unpleasa ant tasks that must be performed. He deals with the problems of all students. When they break the rules, become dimcult to handle, 01' get into seri- ous trouble, it is Mr. Moore who must correct them. When students do not attend classes, it is Mr. Moorelsjob to issue admit slips, and in unex- cused cases to give the proper punishment. He tries hard to make students realize the impor- tance of obeying rules and regulations, and form- ing a good, sound set of values. Besides this extremely demanding job, Mr, Moore has many other responsibilities. He orders all textbooks and sees to their distribution. He is the Iunchroom supervisor and principal ofthe night school and the summer school. He is re- sponsible for the curriculum of the Junior High School. When locks must be distributed or re- turned, it is Mr. Moore who tends to this also. But, in spite ofall these pressures, Mr. Moore remains one of the most colorful personalities at Finneytown. His sense of humor and his willing- ness to help anyone and everyone certainly make him a person that no one will ever forget. Per- haps, as students reminisce about their high school days, they will remember him and appre- ciate the fine job he did at the school. It seems only proper that the 1968 Finis be dedi- cated to a person who is dedicated. It is because of all Mr. Moorels contributions to the school community and his qualifications as an individual that he was chosen. No one else could be more deserving of this recognition. Aside from being yearbook advisori Mr. Connelly Hnds time to photograph basket- ball players. Each year is a pathway of experience for the student at Finneytown High School. A host of courses and an array of activities are offered to him, creating an atmosphere of learning . This learning paves a road which he will follow the rest of his life. The students constant search for knowl- edge leads along many byways towards his destination 7 understanding. A step is taken forward every time he comprehends a new idea. Whenever he is involved in an activity, he discovers a little more about himself. Education Is Miss Abel and Mr. Pettit confer on a counseling problem. Mr. Moore does a superbjob ofremoving a double triple whamie from a lockeri But, when the student becomes unsure of his course and begins to stray from the path, he needs a person to help redirect his footsteps. This person is the teacher. The teacher is the guide to the student proceeding along the road of learning. Having traveled the same path himself, he aids the student through difficulties. By making suggestions, he helps the student with his decisions. The teacher attempts to steer the pupil towards a life of signifi- cance. He hopes that his guidance will teach the student to blaze his own trail in the future. k A younger member of the student body applauds during a pep assembly. The Key Pathway T0 Future Success Exploring various avenues of experience is the studentts duty to himself. He may be- come involved in an organization. In this manner, he develops vocational and long- lasting interests. Or, he may join a sports program. The competition, the satisfac- tion of participation, and the knowledge Obtained, all make the experience chal- lenging and worthwhile. Like the Wildcat that is traveling through this book, the Finneytown student has tra- veled through the 1967-1968 school year. He remembers the priceless times and wonderful friends. He recalls the valuable classroom learning, the helpful teachers, and the beneficial activities. The moment becomes tense in 3 Wrestling match as Mr. Bean urges his team on. The CL A A. Basketball team discusses its strategy. But, most of all, he comprehends the sig- nificant steps taken forward during the year. The recollections of the yearis path- way and its opportunities become perma- nent parts of the studentls knowledge. The pupil will go forward with these past ex- periences to guide him. He will continue the path that his education has started for him. Hisjourney will be one of new dis- coveries, new ideas, and new awareness of the world. Thisjourney never ends. Mrs Rita Levin, Science, 20 Seniors Have Traveled The ilPathway t0 Awarenessil For a senior, the final year at Finneytown marks the end of a high school era. He has explored one path and is ready to proceed to another. This next pathway brings college to most, vocation and ser- vice to many. But, he will never forget the fun of high school a the classical rites of llFrosh Initi- ation, a magnificient Jr-Sr Prom, a class scrap- book, the Christman Prom, Homecoming, two class shows. He will also remember the greatest advisor a class could have had, Mr. Bob Connelly. Without his guidance, the class of 68 might not have achieved all that it did. Finneytown will remember these seniors a the ambitious, energetic people who set a host of tra- ditions. In the words of Mr. Moore, Asst. Princi- pal, lIIn all my years at Finneytown, I have never experienced a more active and interested senior class. I hope future classes will use the 1968 grad- uating class as a very time example? The Class 0fi69 worked hard to help make the Prom 21 success. Under the guidance of their new advisor, Mr. Deeter, they had var- ious money-making projects, such as selling horns at athletic events, a pop bottle drive, a sockhop and a Junior High Dance. The Sports Department offered football, basketball, and track to the boys, and archery, soccer, volleyball, bowling, basketball, and softball t0 the girls. Junior High Student council was the Woiceh of the Junior High They organ- ized activities such as pep buses to all Jun- ior High games to promote school spirit. Four members of the staff attended Ohio Universitfs Journal- ism workshop in the summer, on scholar- ships from the Class of 1968, to prepare themselves for responsible Staff positions. A.F.S. sponsored an International Day on February 2, when various exchange stu- dents from area schools spent a day at Finneytown and attended a basketball game in the evening. Finneytownk foreign exchange student for the school year was Ken Harrison. He attended Horowhenua College in Levin, New Zealand before coming to America on July 28, 1967. He follows the pattern he feels will suit him the best. There are many decisions he must make that will inlluence his future, as Robert Frost says in his poem, tlThe Road Not Taken? Two roads diverged in a yellow wood And sorry I could not travel both And be one traveler, long I stood And looked down one as far as I could T0 where it bent in the undergrowth . . . I shall be telling this with a sigh Somewhere ages and ages hence Two roads diverged in a wood, and I w I took the one less traveled by And that has made all the difference.
