Queen Marge Morgan Football Centennial This was the centennial year of American football. Although, unlike many games, this sport was not the result of a man sitting down with the intention of creating the rules and objectives, but was instead an evolutionary de elopment from ancient kicking contests. American football had chosen ovember 6, 1869 as its official birthday, for on that date Rutgers and Princeton met to battle awav with a pigskin, odd-shaped ball. They played witli few rules recognizable today, a little protection from bruising tackles, but this only goes to show that football is in a state of constan t creation. From its beginnings, football has been associated with the schools, as part of the educational process. This aspect of the sport has remained. Findlay High gridders were honored at a half-time celebration commemorating the anniversary. The team selected Marge Morgan as football queen. She was crowned at the ceremony.
