pi dt liu i club Additional study of the field of mathematics is offered by the Pi Delta i to those students who are interested in sharing in its activities. The members of this club also partici- pated in a three-day trip to Chicago. As a conclu- sion to the year's activ- ities, the club presented the annual award to the outstanding senior math student. Miller, Mr. Yawberg. sophomore math club The Sophomore Math Club, with its objectives to stimulate interest in math and to serve as an incentive to further study in that field, gave demon- strations in the use of the slide rule, in the mechan- ics of the chess game, and in the solving of various mathematics puzzles to those who were members. One of the outstanding service organizations in this school is the Junior Red Cross headed by Mrs. Hope, the faculty spon- sor. This group, combined with the Hancock County Red Cross, has completed many useful projects. One of these services was a collection for use in needy foreign countries. 19

Those who are excep- tionally interested in chemistry may find extra knowledge of the subject in the Chemistry Club. This year's club selected Ted Angus as their pres- ident, and Mr. D. D. Law- rence was club sponsor. Their goal was to improve their knowledge of chem- istry and its applications to modern living and to enjoy science through planned programs. The Naturalist Club is a group of young scien- tists who study nature and enjoy the out-of-doors. The club headed this year by President Sue Rhea and sponsor Mr. Richard S. Phillips participated in field trips, cleaned up the biology lab and sponsored the Homecoming dance.
