This construction project has a group of iorernen, the reliable student council representatives. Many of the school's activities have been planned and super- vised by this loyal group. Sponsoring dances, selling stationery, reconverting the old band room and other activities have made this group a busy one. Twenty-two citizens of this community, one elected by each home roorn, consti- tute the representative government, the link between faculty and students, and are the iorernen of our engineering project. Here We learn the characteristics of democratic government by practice. The student council has done ct good job of guiding this engineering project through a prosperous year. 24 ,

One of the highest honors which can be bestowed on a student is that of being a member of the National Honor Society. Fifteen per cent of the Senior Class are allowed to belong. Five per cent of these are chosen in the junior year and the remaining ten per cent in the senior year, NATIUNAL HUNUR SUCIETY IUNIORS First Row, left to right: Saralu Covert, Thelma Wy'Ef, loan Bitter, Marilyn Baird, Evelyn Brewer. Any student who has maintained a B average throughout his four years of high school is eligible. The next requisite of these students is to fill out a service blank, listing the services he has rendered to the school. This is checked by various faculty mem- bers. After these blanks are turned in, another list is prepared with the names of the remaining candidates on it. This is passed out among the candidates and faculty and are graded by them on lead- ership and character. After tabulation the highest five and ten per cent are admitted to the Society. No one factor figures more than the others. All four must be excellent. 23

' In keeping With their objective to conserve and restore Wild lite, the Findlay Bird Club takes care of the Bird Sanctuary, distributing bird seed throughout the Winter season, planted 1,000 fine seedlings this year as part of reforestation project.
