September 3, l94O, marked his auf spicious beginning a bewildered soul, wandering dazedly through the corridors with a crumpled class schedule clutched in his hand. Story has it,on the opening day he roamed about looking for his first class - - he just couldn't seem to find the room. And by the time he found the office to be reinformed, the class was over, anyway - - but he learned, and he progressed during that year . . . Remember! That was the year Mile ler came out with Pennsylvania 5500 and Pompton Turnpike . . . the year to inaugurate the new school building, and the new band uniforms, and the new hall-host sys- tem. That was the year Red Hoelscher, Marian Sorenson, and Nita Evans headed the class . . . the year the football team came through victoriously with eight gains and one loss. Remember the Beat Fostoria bonfire held in the Rogue fats before the game. . . The juniors presented the comedy-play That Girl Patsy and the Dimwitty family was introduced over the P. A. sys- tern. . . The kids invaded Weckerf Qey's and took it by storm and made lf their official hang-out. Tax-stamp collecting was intensified, with cheer leaders' suits as the goal. . . The flu epidemic created an unexpected va- cation. . . Firefly was given as the operetta and the seniors selected the play, Wings of The Morning. . . Then, cf course, came the lunior- Senior Prom and the commencement exercises and the baccalaureate service . . . another class departed. September 7, l94l, arrived and found him at the half-way point - - between the beginning and the ends ing. . . That was the year Tom Shaffer, Nan Montgomery, and lohn FINDLAY SENIOR HI Barnes assumed helmsmenship of the aiass. . . Mr. Trivella and Miss Kieffer Joined the staff. . . Two new courses, world lit. and co-op selling, were introduced. . . The year Chat- tanooga Choo-Choo and l Know Why andthe Hat became famous. . . . lohn Rooney and Emmy Shuck were chosen heads of the Student Council, and Tom Fassett and Mary Ehrick were instant hits in the mad- cap performance, The Sunshine Twins. . . The football team won second place in the Buckeye League, with seven wins, one tie, and only one drop. . . Miss Mills, a former math teacher, met with a fatal train accident. . . That was the year the laps dropped messages of destruc- tion over Pearl Harbor and the world became difficult and troubled for everyone - - so began air-raid drills, and gym classes became first-aid ciasses. . . stationeWFlN-and the Teen-Tatt- ler was destined to become big time. . . Hunting season came and went. . . There was heart-panic among the girls - - Ronald Coleman, Spencer Tracy, and loe E, Brown all reported in Hancock county. . . Bed Mill was chosen as the operetta and the speech department presented, Mrs. O'Learey's Cow. . . The Blue and Gold conducted a school-wide poll and Nadine Pitman and Ed Brewer were selected as the two most likely to succeed. . . The basket- ball team won recognition tor su- perb skill in playing. . .The tax-stamp drive stimulated by promises of a chime and echo unit for the organ. . . . Then, of course, came the junior- Senior Prom and the Commencement exercises and the Baccalaureate serv- ice - - another class departed. The milestone ot the beginning of the end was September 8, l942. . . That was the year he became the counselor tor the sophies . . . the year his problem for the tuture loomed more vivid, more startingly real. . .That was the year Mary Mueller was appointed editor ot the Blue and Gold and elected president ot the Student Council. . . The year Miller featured At Last and Ser- enade in Blue . . . Meri went out of circulation and Sophie was championed as No. l glamour girl. . . . The juniors produced the play june Mad. . . Bationed commodi- ties - - especially gas - - excited com- ments pro and con. . . A new pre- tlight course introduced and the Vic- tory Corps program begun and model airplanes built by the students. , . Marian Sorenson became president ot the National Honor Society. . . The jeep club was formed to insti- gate sale ot war bonds and stamps and the dratt began to take boys SCHOCL, FINDLAY, OHIO even ot high school age .... The seniors varied their schedules with changes in the scholastic program - - math and gym were empha- sized. . . Betty Dietsch ranked highest in the school in the D. A. R. Test. . . Mr. Kuhns composed the alma mater song. . . Senior High played host to all other city schools and together they presented the pageant, Free Men. . . The seniors presented the hit, The Green Vine. . . A remark- able season of games played by the basketball team, with eleven wins and five losses. . . With tour wins, one tie, and tour losses, the football team took their well-earned share of glory. . . And then, of course, came the junior-Senior Prom and Com- mencement exercises and the Bac- calaureate services - - but this time it was not just another class depart- ing - - it was OUR class. N- .
