xbfyx Q, old Building s V, ERE IS the old building where our immense sophomore class holds forth in this, its first. year at Senior High. This part of the school holds many memories for the aspiring juniors and dignified seniors. It was here that they were initiated by the pa- tient teachers into the dark and dim mysteries of secondary educa- tion. Here it is that the school gathers each Wednesday to hear the fertile brain-child of some student's mind expanded into bits of glistening oratory which fall like pearls before swine. Here it is that Principal Kinley sits enthroned in his oflice and helps many a student solve his problems. But inside this buildings ivy-cov- ered Walls many successful citizens of Findlay received their educa- tion. Through its portals the seniors will pass on graduation night, never to enter again as students of the dear old Findlay Senior High School. RW , l A l l l

URING any warm sunshiny day in the spring or fall. people passing the school during the noon hour can see the delib- erate seniors, the worried juniors, the scurrying sophomores ap- pear and vanish into the depths of the new building ready to start another session of school. Perhaps for forty-live minutes the building is quiet. Then suddenly a bell rings and the halls are filled with noise. The seniors pace deliberately down the hall: the juniors either stalk off to their next class hurriedly or drag along and impede everyones progress: however, the sophomores dash hither and thither among the crowd and manage to get in everyone else's Way. But things like that are common occurrences and are taken for granted. Thus, it has gone on for over ten years, and it will keep on happening as long as students are stu- dents and the building is a school. New Building l l

R. MATTESON has toiled patiently through seventeen years as head of the Findlay educational system and has worked untiringly in promoting all projects which he has deemed worthy of support. He has been conservative in his ideas and de- liberate and thoughtful in making decisions. Perhaps the most important reform during these years was the instituting of the junior high schools, a modern city system. Mr. Matteson has been most careful and considerate in his choice of instructors and has always made his selections with un- biased judgment. He has been wise also in choosing the study curriculum which will be of greatest value to the students of today and the citizens of tomorrow. and in so doing he has respected highly the opinions of others in these matters. He has not been interested only in these major projects and reforms, but also in minor ones, such as sports and other extra curricular activities. ln short, Findlay city schools owe. in large measure, their present destination and reputation to the untiring efforts of Mr. Matteson. eb ,
