Erma Alexander Elisha Voils Shirley Sanders Treasurer V Pres President On September 1 l95O, twenty of us entered Fillmore Community High School as green Freshmen At least everyone called us green The twenty of us were as follows Shirley Sanders, Betty Carlock, Barbara Graham, Janet Williams, Sandra Fleming, Juel Bulka, Vivian Moreland, Gail Donaldson, Gloria Alexander, Erma Alexander, Melva Beesley, Roberta Speer, Robert Speer, Monte Tate, Elisha Veils, Bill Ivy, Bill Logan, Harold Sch.idt, Carl Griffin and Rex Carroll Our class officers were Gloria Alexander, Gail Donaldson, and Barbara Graham Sandra Fleming and Robert Speer were chosen from our class to be heralds in the carnival Our queen candidate was Gall Donaldson with Elisha Voils her escort In the spring we gave a return party for the Sophomores Refresh ments of doughnuts, ice cream and soda were served Everyone enjoyed himself On September l 1951, we were'nt quite so timid as we were the year be fore This year we lost quite a few of our class mates Carl Griffin had gone to Vandalia and Vivian Moreland to Ramsey Perhaps they preferred bigger schools Juel preferred home to school and had not returned During the year Harold Schmidt moved to Hillsboro and Rex Carroll to Nokomis As Sophomores we took part in most of the school activities First was the initiation party It was a big success Some of the boys were on the basketball team and Barbara Graham was elected cheerleader Sandra Fleming was carnival queen candidate with Robert Speer as her escort Most of the girls were in the chorus, they also served at the Junior Senior banquet They wore sailor suits which did'nt fit too well but we thought they looked O K And they enjoyed it in spite of all the work Our biology class accompanied by Mrs Baker and Mr Kemp took a early morning bird trip When we say early we mean 3 a m We took our break fast with us and watched the birds through field glasses Shirley Sanders, a member of our class, was chosen from our school for queen candidate in the Nokomis homecomming September l, 1952, there were only eight of us to start out the Junior year They were as follows Janet Williams, Shirley Sanders, Erma Alexander Sandra Fleming, Monte Tate, Elisha Veils, Bill Ivy, Bill Logan After the first semester Bill Logan quit school Erma, soon, resigned as treasurer and Bill Ivy took over He also quit, so then Janet Williams took over the job By some miracle she kept it while all the arguments were going on Erma Alexander was carnival queen candidate with Monte Tate as her escort She also was elected cheerleader from our class. At the basketball games we ran a stand and sold soda pop, candy and hotdogs. With a few arguments and misunderstandings we finally came out ahead. Our play 'THE CLOCK STRIKES TWELVE' was given on March 27. We entertained in honor of the Seniors with a banquet at the Lutheran Church basement.
