They almost shine with the sun. Many have come, And gone before me. My heels stumble upward Toward the top of these stairs. The height of my journey, Which lies before me Hidden in the mists The mists of maturity. I shall reach it. And while lost there I shall find my goal, And while lost there I shall find my end, And my journey will Have found its destination, Robert E. VanWey, Jr. Gary T. Swartout-Class of 1964 H. Carl Bailey-Class of 1968 Death, be not proud, though some have called thee Mighty and dreadful, for thou art not so; For those whom thou think’st thou dost overthrow Die not, poor Death; nor yet canst thou kill me. From rest and sleep, which but thy pictures be, Much pleasure; then from thee much more must flow; And soonest our best men with thee do go- Rest of their bones and souls’ delivery! Thou’rt slave to fate, chance, kings, and desperate men, And dost with poison, war, and sickness dwell; And poppy or charms can make us sleep as well And better than thy stroke. Why swell’st thou then? One short sleep past, we wake eternally, And Death shall be no more: Death, thou shalt die. -John Donne Faculty Mr. Swartout, Supervising Principal Administration May I again offer congratulations to the Crest staff and to their advisors. This is another outstanding issue of Crest, honoring our Senior Class of 1971 and the activities of Fillmore Cen- tral School. Wherever one goes in the world-be it the highlands or the lowlands-prairies or wood- lands-mountains or seas—homelands or far away places-there is beauty—intriguing, but al- ways different. Each path is made up of a set of footprints, a series of steps to be taken one at a time. Each of us has a path ot follow that is well trodden by those going ahead of us. Take the travel on this path one step at a time, thus enabling you to enjoy the beauty, its intriguing but always different effect. Then too, will we realize that God planned it this way; that these beautiful places our path- ways may lead us to are filled with truth, beauty and goodness, especially in the people found there. T. Grants Perry, New York A year of editing a yearbook cannot easily be summed up in one paragraph. Finances, deadlines, tears, camera trouble, planning pages, and success are experiences that are hard to put into words. But there are many people responsible for the 1971 Crest who deserve special notice. Denise and Shirley worked tirelessly as Business Manag- er and Layout Editor. Mr. Krause spent an- other devoted year, faithfully taking pic- tures, and Mrs. Hold was always willing to offer help and guidance. My sincere thanks to all who assisted in any way in the produc- tion of the yearbook. 3-Cfc l Lora Beth Stockin Editor-in-Chief 150 ♦ 11 lor’ colloylulc | ‘C«« I
