The Yearbook Staff of Fillmore Central School presents The 1968 Crest Sunrise . . . 2 FCS stands, unfaltering . we come . . . 3 to search, 4 to create. We find protection, 5 enrichment, We go . . . and friends. 6 to remember. In Memoriam Sunset TABLE of CONTENTS Faculty 12-23 Seniors 24-43 Elementary 44-59 Activities 60-105 Underclassmen 106-119 Sports 120-135 Advertising 136-149 10 DEDICATION The director raises his baton, glances quickly over his group, and with one swift motion fills the auditorium with the enchantment of music . . . Students, past and present, remember a man who guided them through tonettes, and those first few indistinguishable notes-, through nervous moments before concerts and memorial day parades; to the achievement of a polished performance. More important, they recall a man who combined with his talents - ability, pa - tience and understanding to instill in them responsibility, poise, and appreciation for music. For twenty years of devotion to stu - dents, and ideals of Fillmore Central School, the Crest Staff takes pleasure in dedicating the 1968 yearbook to Mr. Stewart Folts - I don’t remember When did they? ULTY growing older, Principal’s Message Congratulations to the Crest staff for another fine year- book. Special congratulations and best wishes to the senior class who is honored by this book, The Crest of 1968. Our best wishes go with them in all their accomplishments and may they look back with fondness on the memories evoked by this yearbook. School days seek to get you ready for ex- amination; life gives the finals. May each and every one of you receive the highest possible grade that can be obtained in these finals. 1968 Leon H. Moosemen! :entral school V -inmmmm He and She Class Prophecy One gloomy eve as 1 sat pondering Lonely, saddened and depressed O’er a long-forgotten volume Of the dear old Fillmore Crest .... 1 chanced, as 1 flipped thru the pages To find myself-as if by fate Beholding the familiar faces Of my class of ’68. The pages turned more slowly then- Then finally stopped; and with them brought Memories of that class; and all the Changes twenty years had wrought. NANCY SANDFORD noit’s HARRIS now Those two make such a perfect pair It wasn’t long until they traced The tracks to the altar of DONNIE and CLAIRE It seemed like nearly everybody Went his separate way and yet In 20 years, it’s hard to believe How many times their paths have met. The last I heard from GARY BEERS He’d a radio station all his own With chief announcer “mighty CRAIG” And AMY to handle that busy phone. A block or seven from the station Is “WILMOT’S school for kids who slide” Where good ole DOUG is teaching English Playing pro soccer on the side. REGGIE’S coaching football there PAUL teaches use of water skis RON MILLS heads up the baseball end While NURSE CURRAN handles injuries. But to the academics now And teaching math (and having fun) Is Miss VASILE who uses JEAN’S Computer for the harder ones. And teaching music, teamed with drama Mighty Miss TALBOTT has found her peace Emphasizing to all of her students When you sing, use expression in your face. Now down the street from this great school Is a prime example of good architecture A “CHARLIE SMITH” original And within a place of tears and lecture. For this is the headquarters of DEB and DAMARIS, psychology They do lots of counseling we won’t mention names But mine is a most troubled class it would seem. A couple of members of our class Were lured to Hollywood’s bright powers AUDREY SYLOR joined Burnett, while CANDY stars in the Hitchcock Hours. NEIL VAN NAME and DAVID YOUNG Play baseball-major leaguer’s dream While CAROL REES has made her mark As owner of a wrestling team. BETTY now’s cheering for National League. With golden locks to her knees they’re worn. She leads the team and running up points. Is TOOT RAKOSKA’S on scoreboard and horn. And as I scan my evening paper I find they’ve also made front page “PAT WALSH’S carved moose rivals “Pieta;” And “SNIDER downs welfare as outrage. MILLER tops Alcinder’s record HOLLAND makes whopping business deal COOLEY runs for president Gee—what a class! How proud I feel! And in the comic section, I never miss BYRON and JIM’S “The coo that mooed.” And Nanny WILLETT’S daily comments On children and manners- today it’s on food. ANDY McKERROW. and CLAIR. DICK, and DANA Pooled all their talents and dough; and I hear Took over the most famous farm in the country Well known as “Green Acres” by all far and near. Then no-not all are so well-known Most in my class lead quiet, simple lives There’s SHER. LEONA and MARCIA-all happily mar- ried And OLLY BEARDSLEY he truck drives. Then GARY JAMES fixes leaky faucets CARL BAILEY makes cupboards of wood STEVE HOTCHKISS inspects all of Carl’s cupboards Trying to find one to live in for good. ROG, ROD and BRENDA are still the fast movers Stopped at least daily by WAYNE BAILEY, cop And then there’s BRUCE RAWLEIGH who (listen to this) Run the world’s busiest barber shop. And there’s MR. KRAUSE and dear MRS. POTTER Bet that they both have retired by now But I don’t think that they’ll ever forget My class-you know its funny how I wish I could rejoin that class In its march to die top-but there’s just no use With everyones problems in this busy world For an old forgotten great orange moose. 43 T.H.E. On behalf of the Crest Staff and myself I would like to express our appreciation and thanks to everyone who made this yearbook possible. This year we have tried to revise the Crest in various ways which we felt would improve the book and in doing so we hope we have set precedents which will be followed in future years. We feel that a yearbook should not only contain pictures but should also capture the true spirit of the school and its stu- dents .. . This was our objective in the 1968 Crest and we sin- cerely hope that this book meets with your expectations and ours.
