Text from Pages 1 - 160 of the 1964 volume:

In Memory PRISCILLA CLEVELAND Of three fine students who we will miss greatly in the halls of Fillmore Central School. VERONICA CLEVELAND Of MRS. SNIDER for her many years of faithful dedication to make us better citizens. Of MRS. PERRY for her patience and understanding of us as children. And of PAUL McCARTY - an outstanding citizen and athlete in our school and community. Principal's Message Congratulations to the YEARBOOK staff for another successful book. Our best wish - es for success and happiness also go out to the senior class of 1964. We are always proud of our senior classes and the senior class of 1964 is no excep- tion. We trust that at Fillmore Central School you have learn- ed to lead lives fitting for a good American. Remember that an Amer- ican is not a subject of a monarch nor a slave to a dic- tator. He is free in self-gov- erning. accepting responsibil - ity, preparing for his future, providingforhis family, plan- ning his life and making some contribution to his community. An American is known for seeking to learn and becoming useful, for solving his own problems and correcting his own faults. Hebecomesself-criticizing and does not seek to impose his will on others. With President Johnson all Americans pledge themselves to help free our Country from crime, disease and poverty. At least, seniors of 1964, and students of Fillmore Central School, this is my idea of an American. What is yours? Leon H. Swartout Supervising Principal Looking at Fillmore Central. . . . Athletics Soccer VARSITY SOCCER This year's Varsity Soccer team had an outstanding season. The squad won six, tied two and lost two. The team was led in scoring by Gary Swart- out and the defense was headed up by Pete Fuller, Tom Schubert, and Rob Wells. The senior members of this year's team carried a great share of the load and performed well throughout the entire season. FIRST TEAM Kneeling: Warren Jeffords, Gary Swartout Clair Findlay, Gordon Jeffords, Jeff Wiles. Standing: Aaron Smith, Gary Bernard, Pete Fuller-Captain, Robbie Wells, Tom Schu- bert, Tom Willett. The best individual record of 14--1 was compiled by Stan Adamowich. We had three county champs this year--Tom Schubert for his third straight year, Warren Jeffords and Stan Adamo- wich for their first year. Tom Schubert, Stan Adamowich and Bill Noniewiez were awarded Most Valuable Wrestlers in their respective weight classes. We must have won! Put him down. Bill! After the match--before the party. Charlie Haynes, Mike Holland. This year's team will be remembered for many years as one of the finest, possibly THE finest, basketball team in the school's history. The reasons for this were ability, proper at- titude. and balance. Instead of being dominated by one or two players, our team had its talent spread out. On any given night, any one of six boys could have starred. Pete Fuller and Gary Swartout made the county first and second all-star teams, and Rob Wells made the Section V tournament team. Gary Bernard was outstanding as he ended up second high re- bounder and third highscorer. Tom Willett and Clair Findlay always shared equal honors for the fifth starting position. The unselfish attitude that was so evident made the team a pleasant one to play on and an honor to be associated with. UP GARY--UP GARY--UP GARY—UP!
