These students work constantly in order to improve their musical quality and marching ahility. The hand represents the school and community during the year in many parades and special events. Last year, it was selected as the official hand of the Lions Clubs' lnternational Convention which was held in Atlantic City, New jersey, .lune 21,2-1, 1961. This year's lead players are Doug Fitz- gerald, saxophone, Janie Bostick, flute, Ricky Rickman, trumpet, Tom VVatson, baritone, David Moody, tuhag Butch Bradley, troznhoneg -lackie Holland, drum, and George Sherwood, clarinet. The hand also participates in the Eastern North Carolina Band Contest which is held on the campus of East Carolina College in March. Last year they received the highest rating possihle- Superior. The hand under the excellent direction of Mr. R. ll. Babelay is a credit to Pike and the City of VVilson.
